Supergirl (or How Kara Zor-El Got Her Groove Back) on CBS - Page 15

He was that kind of face. Even when he's not actually evil I just can't trust him.

I was happy that Chloe was mentioned, along with her wall of weird. Now that the show has given me a taste, I hope Allison Mack makes an appearance on the show.

I enjoyed seeing young Alex and Kara when they got on each other's nerves.

Search "Allison Mack" and "Recent news." This episode's timing could have been better.

I did love that the "CIA agent" gave her name as Noel Neill. Nice tip of the hat to another legacy actor.

That news was just flat out weird.

"The part of Chloe will now be played by Kristen Bell."

That being said, this episode was really great. The two teenage actresses who played Alex/Kara were excellent.

I just found out that Allison Mack has been recruiting for a sex cult. Its a safe bet she won't be on this show or any other.

Yeah, I'm bummed. She was my favorite part of Smallville.

Kristin Kreuk was quite the looker as well.

Chloe was the better character, and Mack's the better performance, by miles.

P.S. Apparently, Kreuk is a Nexian too...

Nicki Clyne, too (according to that article)?! God dammit.

I too am team Chloe. I can relate to a woman who has a passion for strange events.

I do like how they tied Smallville and Supergirl together so effortlessly.

And that's not even counting the presence of Smallville's Erica Durance. I'm not buying the recasting though. Laura Benanti made too much of an impression in Season 1.

I felt so bad for Kara when Mon-El told her he was married. While Kara and Mon-El had good chemsity together, I'm glad they're no getting back together. Kara being heart broken has been good for the show. It could be all the Buffy I watched and I can't help but think characters are more interesting if they are a tad miserable.

Maybe the movie side of DC could learn from this show. You can make the mature without trying so hard to be dark and edgy.

The Covefefe line got a smile out of me.

The season finale will be Reign turning back into Sam thanks to the love of her daughter. Yeah I know I just predicted the obvious. Hopefully it will be executed well enough that I don't care how predictable it was.

Good thing that Brainiac 5 is in one of the stasis pods to be Kara's rebound dude.

As soon as Mon-El said "The 31st Century" I nerded out. Then we got Saturn Girl as Mon-El's wife! We're finally getting the Legion of Superheroes stuff!

Next week's the big CRISIS ON EARTH X crossover and I can't wait!

Best Reeve-era callback in a while: "I saw Clark do this once..."

After seeing Sam turn into Regin, I'm assuming by season's end Kara will learn that having a broken heart is better than not having one at all.

I predict that one way or another Sam dies, and her daughter gets adopted by Alex.

"I want kiiiiiiiids!"

"My mom's deeeeeeead!"

Oh, how convenient.

CRISIS ON EARTH X begins tonight with Supergirl and Arrow (Parts 1 & 2) Should be a blast!

Smart choice to drop the individual series' opening titles in favor of a Crisis on Earth-X logo, since this wasn't really a Supergirl episode. The church fight was pretty great.

And another legacy-casting coup: The officiant at the wedding was Greatest American Hero William Katt!

Man, these first two eps were fun! Sara and Alex not knowing each other's names was so good!

Oh man that was so great. These annual mega crossovers are pure comic book goodness through and through.

"Why do you have a Kryptonite arrow?"

"Just in case an evil you showed up!"

Way to dodge the uncomfortable question Ollie!

I knew he looked familiar. Especially that hair. Damn, the team behind these shows are huge nerds. I love it!

That young woman who seemed really interested in Barry at the wedding also played a role in Smallville, so another legacy actor.

Oh, I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of her if the popular theory of her being either:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Barry and Iris' daughter Dawn Allen, sister of Don Allen, collectively known as the Tornado Twins from the comics who are also members of the Legion.

Or she may be in fact Jenni Ognats, aka XS, and Dawn's granddaughter.  Both would tie in nicely to the Legion stuff we've seen so far on Supergirl.  After BLACK LIGHTNING, I have a feeling the LEGION will be the next DC team show.

Watching CRISIS ON EARTH X right now.

Terrible special effects aside this is a lot of fun (Mick especially!).

Mick in the robe was great. I loved Ollie’s ‘I don’t have superspeed’ gag.

Also very, very happy with the Alex and Sara stuff and the reveal of Prometheus’s identity.

The new Arrow Team (Rene, Curtis, Black Canary) are useless as ever. I don't care for any of them ever since they were introduced in Season 4.

That warehouse fight in the second episode reminded me of nothing so much as an old school City of Heroes mission.

I really wish these shows would find another way to make the villains scary than making the heroes ineffectual buffoons.

Those were two legit LOL moments for me.  "Your daughter insisted I don't walk around the house naked so I found one of your dresses".  Fuckin' Mick.

And Ollie is so much more fun when he's playing the straight man that actually has a sense of humour.

What's weird about that was my wife didn't watch a lot of TV in their house when she was a kid, so she had no idea about The Greatest American Hero.  However, I had a weird hankerin' to watch House for the first time in decades about 3 weeks ago.  When he turned up last night, she points and goes "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!!!"

Now that is why I enjoy the hell out of the Arrowverse. They may have half the budget of the DCEU but they have more heart and more fun.

Loved every minute of it.

"General, would you care to step outside?"

Did NOT see that callback coming, and they set it up so well.

for my money that was a much better crossover than last year's.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Earth-X Red Tornado looked awesome!

Stein's death scene legit got to me - those two really brought it in that scene.  Damn near teared up.

That really was a tonne of fun, and Sara has become such a great character.  Who woulda guessed several years ago?

Watching this makes me wish Brandon Routh had another movie as Supes.

He's not bulked up enough. But there's a goodness to him that badly needed in the DCCU right now.

Hoechlin has been a solid Supes on tv.

I thought that was great too. Although to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the first two Reeves movies. IMO there good, but there are a lot more comic book movies I would rather watch.

The cross over was a lot of fun, but it did go dark at times. I forgot the reset my DVR, so I missed the second hour on Monday, so I was shocked when the first episode started off in a concentration camp. They did not fuck around with showing how evil the Nazis where.

I was impressed by Felicity's impassion speech when she was shielding Kara.

I don't follow Legends, but Routh's Atom suit is an exceptional piece of design and construction, particularly for a TV show.

Legends started out wonky but DAMN, it's turned into a ridiculously goofy-fun show.

Was disappointed Hoechlin didn't show up for the crossover.  Ray meeting Supes would be the exact type of cheesy meta humor that make these shows charming.  See also Garber complaining about the designer of the Titanic.

And I've never gotten the Felicity hate until now.  Way to completely hijack another couple's spontaneous romantic moment, and make it all about you.

I’m hoping they’re saving that for a future crossover set primarily on Supergirl’s Earth.

Giving Nazi Supergirl an "SS" logo was pretty damn bold. Took me a minute to register that that's exactly what it was.

Honestly making full-on, unashamed (Ollie was the Fuhrer!) Nazi versions of the leads of two of their three lead driven shows with nothing resembling a redemption arc in sight is pretty damn bold.

I quit watching during the first season when the Hawkman/Hawkgirl "Nope, no choice, you have to love me" stuff got to be too much.  Seems like starting with Season 2 may not be a bad idea.

And damn, I don't keep up with the show, but Dr. Stein's final moments really got to me.

The Hawks really dragged the show down and Vandal Savage wasn’t a great villain. Once they dropped those characters, the show really found it’s groove.

At least Hawkgirl taught us what a Barrista is!

Also Rip is the worst.

Yeah, you could really just kick off on season 2 and be better off for it, if we're being honest.  By the midway point of that season they've pretty much embraced the inherent comic-bookiness of the concept and just run with it.  Routh, as is nearly always the case, is an absolute delight.  But almost the entire cast has great chemistry with each other.

Carly Loltz is another standout for me. She has charisma in spades here.
