Nothing special but contrary to previous comments it does have a brief glimpse of new footage: Alice loading a shotgun on a completely deserted street that is littered with abandoned cars and all kinds of trash.
WEll....I unlike some movie snob, am looking forward to it.
Lol, that trailer is the best teaser I have ever seen. And so what if you didn't like the script for the second? What bearing does that hav on everyone else?
I like the trailer, pretty cool. I'll be there on opening night for sure. Though I'm not expecting much considering I didn't really like the first one.
I liked the trailer, it was a neat way to tease a movie, I thought.

And the scene of Alice cocking the shotgun isn't new, its fromt he end of the first one.

Hey Hayden,

It's "warmest".

And why do I get the feeling you're gonna' be trouble...? Maybe something in your profile...

go away double poster! we don't want your stinking opinions! lol =)

Fuck the Resident Evil games. Fuck them. If you compare the movie to the games then it's gonna suck because no one spent 6 hours in the courtyard looking for a key that unlocks a box that has a crankshaft in it. Judging the movie on it's own merits it was a decent flick. It wasn't an epic blockbuster but it was a decent movie that appealed to a large group. IF you make a movie trying to appease a specific sub-segment of the population you are going to 1. fail because said sub-group will still find fault with it and 2. make a movie that will tank at the box office because it has too much stuff in it that the majority of viewers won't really get. Then when you want to make another horror movie, the execs say "no way, horror movies don't make money."

Edit - Okay that was me just venting. Sorry about that.

Why is it some people think that when RE gamers like myself mean more faithful we mean "we want people wandering around looking for keys"?

True to the story.
True to the flavor.
That's all we're saying.
That's what we mean. Just show the series some fucking respect in terms of its storyline and style, that's all we ask for the filmmakers to do.

Thank you. You can stop acting as if we're idiots now.

EDIT: as for the trailer - no Quicktime, no clicky.

Edit 2: Additions, subtractions, it's matharific!

I thought the first movies was pretty good. Probably I was expecting a B-rated movie and it was. Heel, I thought it had quite few reference to the games. Anyway I looking forward to second the teaser kick ASS!!!

....oh. A-heh. Sorry. My taking-things-too-personally aspects showing again.
i personally loved the 1st, i thought it was a great little sub-story to it that mostly only explained who nemesis was before the experiments on him.

but i think a lot of people are just expecting too much of the movie, and you people should just go into this movie with an open mind as any other movie, dont expect anything, cause if you do, you might get your hopes up, then hate the movie cause it didnt have it or something gay like that.
Something very strange and familiar about this cohen/Creeper guy...

Just found out today that the trailer was shot by TCM remake's Marcus Nispel.
Funny because Alexander Witt is the Director on "RE Apocalypse."
If this doesn't throw up a red flag...
I think its gonna be cool (Atleast, I hope so) I liked the first one .
Well, regardless of whether the movie will be good or not (I'm looking forward to it, thought the first was a good time if not great) I did really like the trailer.
It, and the Alien SE trailer were the best thing about Underworld.

Is Milla in this one - I thought I had read somewhere that she turned the role down. Plus although it's being written by the most talentless man in Hollywood, it does have the director of 'Ginger Snaps' directing it - so for that I'm thankful.

Sorry, chap, John Fawcett - director of Ginger Snaps - is not helming Resident Evil: Apocalypse. You must be mistaken.

<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0936838/" target="_blank">Alexander Witt</a> is taking over for Paul W.S. Anderson this time around with a script penned by Anderson.

Fawcett, on the other hand, is gearing up to direct a film called The Dark which is some spooky ghost story based on some Scottish (I think) legend.

Re: Snobby movie goers...

Sorry, I get so irritated with people who are like "well, that's not true to teh video game," or "they spent at least six more hours in the book doing that!"

Dude, its a movie, based on a video game, with killer zombies.

We're not talking great art. Maybe your expectations are too high.

I'm sorry but as far as I am concerned the RE games ARE great art. So of course my expectations for the movie were high. And they are even higher for the second one because everything in the script review sounded fucking great to me (apart from the Milla Supergirl angle) and the production stills looked much better than anything from the first film.

PS: If you don't think killer zombies can make for great art you should consider that you're maybe hanging out on the wrong forum. This is the Creature Corner! We love our zombies with a passion!

Dude, its not that I dont respect your opinion. Its more that I'm sick and tired of people trashing the first flick or saying the sequel will be bad. You haven't seen the sequel have you? So what if you've read the script, that is just a template for the Director to use. He may churn out a good film for all we know.

But I dooo love zombies...and cheesy horror....but I also love my Rings

Sorry for my stupidity - Actually blame Harry Knowles who seemed to think it was the director of Ginger Snaps.
Cohen - Paul is not a first-time director, in case you feel RE was his first film. His first script since his debut film, Shopping, for sure. But not his first directing job.
Ai. Sorry. Didn't pay too close of attention there. Apologies. Gotcha. No need to get snippy.
It's a pretty neat teaser IMO. Similar to the Umbrella product promos that were in the games.

Good stuff.

Well, warmest, safest - doesn't matter to me. If you like hiding it in a man - for whatever reason - who am I to judge?

Hellboy, you're so right. Definitely something familiar...

And the Resident Evil teaser is really cool. Makes sense to me that Nispel would shoot it, as he's that swank advertising maestro...

The Resident Evil games art?

Ummm....

The first RE game was completely AWFUL, and the middle 2 games are about the only ones I would call good. Code Veronica had some flaws and didn't do anything mindblowing other than giving me a creepy fixation on Claire Redfield. The remake was lackluster, and the Gun Survivor and Gaiden games have been critically panned as crap. Havent bothered with Zero yet, but might grab it used at a sub 20 dollar pricepoint.

Resident Evil the series is a total ripoff of Alone in the Dark, cept with Zombies instead of Cthulhuoid monstrosities.

Of course, RE was a console game, and the Playstation/Playstation 2 generation of gamers are lucky if they acknowledge computer or earlier console games at all, much less that some of these earlier systems created the games today's biggest hits are mostly all derivative of...

Anderson made a fun movie which didn't seem to contradict the games any, and made Mila J. incredibly HAWT to my eyes. Sure, there wasn't much grue, but so what? Its not like the Return of the Living Dead or the holy Romero Trilogy are gonna magically fly out of our movie collections. We can still see zombie gore all we want.

But what do I know? I liked Event Horizon and Mortal Kombat too.

CURSE ME FOR NOT HATING ANDERSON!! Its a wonder I don't weep daily for my sin... (This would be sarcasm. If I am gonna weep, its gonna be about my lackluster life and lack of nookie, not a B movie director's take on a videogame series inspired by Zombie movies and a French computer game..)

So can we all go have a beer/soda/pizza/joint and chill?
Resident Evil didn't rip off Alone in the Dark.

Resident Evil took AITD's crude 3D adventure game skeleton and gave it a major overhaul. Thus creating action-based survival horror.
Nailed it there, Adam. Thank you.

I'd go on another one of my rants right about now about the RE series being one of the only games that's had something resembling a timeline that (besides some continuity errors and plot holes) has kept pretty consistent, but, ya know, in this case, I'm not gonna bother with someone who shows as much piss and vinegar as you, Bloodcat. Not worth getting angry over in this case, I think.

The movie did contradict the games, though, in many cases. Licker backround was wrong (though strangely, Anderson's explanation made a bit more sense - "re-infected zombies"? WTF?), for one. As well, if the train was not for the lab that William Birkin supposedly worked at, then why did its train have the same number on it? That's another. And there's tons more than that, but, please, don't get me started, okay? That's all yer getting outta me.

But yeah, what Adam said.
Cause the train that led to the lab william birkin worked at was not an actual moving train, it was merely an elevator DISGUISED as a train car.
No no no, I don't mean that one. I mean the emergency exit one that went out the tunnel at the end. The number - "Alexi-5000". It's the same number on the train in the movie.
Is there anywhere else this teaser can be downloaded? I can't get it to work.
Verbs, have a look at Suprnova.org. They had a torrent of it a few days back.

Then most likely it's the model # or something, cause the emergency train led out of the city.
the one in the movie just went to the mansion, to the lab, and back.

Hey! Dont call me names just because i know that this movie is no better than the first, it all comes down to whether you liked the first or not, as a good time, it was pretty good, but as a horror film that was based on a game, well...it was lacking, alot, this one is 2.

The Creeper
True, it wasnt rated that high on my list of horror films but it was entertaining. I wouldnt mind seeing the sequel but Im not expecting a mind blowing horror masterpiece or anything...
I really liked the first RE movie for what it was: an action movie with zombies...not a zombie movie with action.

That being said, it was a flawed movie, for sure. I'm hoping the RE2 movie makes up for certain problems that the first movie had: lackluster zombies and one, count 'em, one monster that really only did shit until the end.

From all the advance word, this movie might look like it improves upon concepts of the first. We have yet to see any zombie footage, but from what's floating around the Internet, there seems to be a whole lot more good zombie action. Also, there seems to be more monsters, which is always a good thing.

The only aspect I really don't dig is:

possible SPOILER.

is that Milla is supposed to be super charged in this. Hightened senses, more strength, etc. I'm not too fond of that idea, it's like putting Batman or Superman in the middle of Dawn of the Dead.

Bit even that I can get over, if the rest of the movie is good. I'll be willing to overlook it if the rest of the movie is smart and entertaining.

We shouldn't base opinions on the short comings of the first movie (but, yes, it is everyone's God given right, and I'll never fault anyone for it), because in many people's mind this movie is already gonna suck and will never be any good because of the dislike for the first.

It might be a case where a sequel is better than the first.

We might all be pleasently suprised.

And besides...it's another zombie movie! That's gotta count for something.

Did anyone else catch the little bit of footage they showed at the MTV Movie Awards post show? It wasn't much but pretty cool. No action footage just Mila in a lab waking up.

sorry about posting here its just that i didn't want to start a new thread

Cool, someone resurrected my thread! How appropriate!

I haven't seen the MTV footage, though. Is it just me or does this film need a new teaser or the final trailer real quickly? The old teaser with the faux commercial showed no new footage and I'm just dying to get to see some Nemesis in action. I want to know if they got him right and if I can hyped for this sequel or just scratch it from my list of anticipated movies ...

the scientists ask her if she remembers anything. if she remembers her name and she is getting pulled out of this bacta tank looking thing and she is all like "I....I......I......I.......Uh.......I Remeber everything" and lunges at them after they dissmiss her as a weak shell shocked little Mila/Hottie and then it cuts away and says Reident Evil.
Cool but no real good footage.

Ok well Anybody who has played the games or read the books knows Carlos is just a private in that Umbrella paramilitary force right?
Apparently not he's a commander and his leader in the games and books Nicholai is now carlos's 2nd in command(also there is no Mikhail as far as i can tell).

And of course there the SUPER POWERS!! ok I'll be sick if i keep talking about this let's move on.

Then there is no S.T.A.R.S. Jill is a normal cop (WTF!) and theres no other S.T.A.R.S. members (Barry,Chris,Wesker, and no there is no Claire Leon) .

I'm obsessed with the storyline of the games/books I've read every book atleast twice and played every game multiple times(even the terrible ones on Gameboy and the FPS ones) and if the articles and script I've read are real I'm not going to see this peice of shit movie

Ok my rant is over sorry to waste your time
post #48 of 50
Found this blurb from Bloody Disgusting website from months ago and it pretty much is the same thing that aired on MTV. Oh and the website is booming with content. no new trailer though.

"A scooper told Aint it Cool News about a clip from Resident Evil: Apocalypse shown at the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors, "The clip seemed to take place at the end of the film because we see Milla "Alice" Jovovich inside of a huge tank just like the one Luke Skywalker was in Star Wars 2 and we see scientists scurrying about discussing how well she's healing then the head scientist has her released from the tank then we see Milla Fully nude (Bonus) incoherently trying to speak doing the LeeLoo thing and the Head scientist asks her if she remembers anything and then she starts to have rapid cut flashbacks of her fully strapped shooting double guns and various shots of the S.T.A.R.S. team, Zombies leaping and screaming then she snaps out of it and says to the head scientist "I remember everything" then proceeds to grab his pen then stabs him in the neck."
Yeah, that was at Fango and did nothing to make me want to see it. Alice has superpowers and she's in some cryo stasis tube thing...what the fuck does that have to do with zombies? I mean, if you're going to premiere a clip from the film in front of hundreds of drooling horror fans, wouldn't you want to make sure it's full of zombie ass-kicking? I sure as hell would.

Sorry, still bitter about the first one. I'll give this one a fighting chance.

And I know there was footage out there of Milla fighting the Nemesis at one point, behind the scenes stuff, and we covered it...and now I can't find the damn story. Wonderful. But yeah, Wetbones, Nemesis looks pretty damn good.

I remember that ... It was some behind the scenes stuff that went up at the website of the company that provided the cameras for the movie ... Sadly I never got to see it as they were forced by Sony/Screen "Gems" to take it down right after the story broke ...

I heard the Nemesis doesn't have acid tentacles in the movie, though, which sucks. Tentacles are cool. Even if they don't rape Japanese schoolgirls. From what I heard they gave him sume sort of pipes sticking out of his back instead. WTF?
