I wish I could grow a beard at all...

what Bruce should do is train under 100x Earth gravity!  all it takes is a few days of it!  or so the manga indicates!

Then I'll remain skeptical one ;)

Wait, doesnt this wok only for saiyans? And doesnt Superman comes from a world with a stronger gravity?

Also, if a Saiyan has a long beard, and he goes Super Saiyan, does the beard go up too?

In other news, coworkers got me to watch Dragon Ball Super, and its been a pleasant surprise; just dumb fun allaround.

Plus, you get to see Vegeta's skills at changing a diaper.

ugh dragonball zzzzzzzzzzzz

Bruce should train wearing a heavy turtle shell!
My only exposure to Dragonball Z was that live action movie that inexplicably had Ernie Hudson in it....so yeah, I don't look too kindly upon that whole thing.

I still can't remember what dire set of circumstances led me to watching that movie..
hahaha that movie...

Early reviews are in. Much praise for Gal Gadot.

96 percent on the old hated review aggri mah gator.

Looking good for DC. Fucking finally.  Jesus Christ.

Yes! Make good movies! All movies would be good in a perfect world.

Hopefully WB learns from this and smartens the fuck up from now on.

*snicker*

Of course, the first review I read this morning on The Guardian (my morning news source) is the only negative one, which put me in a bad mood. Thankfully, looks like that is literally the only Rotten in the RT crowd at the moment. They've always been a touch snobby about superhero flicks anyway.

It'll go down.  They ALWAYS go down.

The upside is, if it's not good after all, we can at least point and laugh at WB/DC some more.

But it’s that moment that will stun you. Jenkins picked a very symbolic place for Wonder Woman’s debut, and watching her run at top speed through No Man’s Land, deflecting bullets with ease, it’s a damn near indescribable high. You are simply not used to seeing a character like Wonder Woman on screen, but with her debut moment turned up to the max, it’s truly magnificent.

If only Jenkins had been overseeing the DCU instead of Snyder, eh?

Snyder's overseeing jackshit post-Justice League. I've been saying for more than a year that once JL is out the Snydester will be quietly replaced. By Whedon by the look of things.

These reviews make me happy. If WB had fuck this up even I would have turned on them.

I mean, maybe a creator is really good at one character because it speaks to them and not good as a manager of an entire stable of characters?

It strikes me as a short sighted "WB" decision to latch onto the first positively received director with a death grip.

This scene made me tear up.  In the post-release thread, it's the bit I said was like Steve Rogers jumping on the grenade times a hundred.

Just curious, but did that scene use the trailer music?

You mean her BVS theme?  It pops up during a part of that scene, but isn't used for the whole thing.

Does Wonder Woman ever throw her shield at Nazis like Captain Steve Rogers?  Does it bounce around between like three of them like my Paladin character in WoW?

STOP CALLING THEM NAZIS DAMMIT!

The movie takes place like half a decade before the National Socialist German Worker's Party was even founded and 20 years before the Nazis invaded Poland.

Your generalisation is not only offensive to our German friends but grossly historically inaccurate.

Jeez. Stop being a History Nazi, Codey!

So she doesn't throw her shield at Nazis is what your saying?

It was a trick question in two ways.  Cap doesn't really fight Nazis.

Why I oughtta!

Does this make the Germans of World War 1 the protomorphs to the Nazis Xenomorph?

No, more the Engineers.

Anyhoo, reading reviews and seeing people compare Gadot's performance to that of Christopher Reeves' Superman is both unexpected and awesome.

Guess those reports of the movie being a mess were a big old pile of bullshit.

Man, I'm so glad that I actually have what seems to be a good movie to look forward to this weekend. I was given a bunch of free cinema tickets by my old man (he gets them as part of his bank account but they're for a cinema chain he lives nowhere close to, whereas I use that particular brand regularly) and it's surprisingly difficult finding movies to use them for.

You're supposed to play ESO with me this weekend!!

Reminder that Germain Lussier is completely in the tank for these kind of things (he's the dude that posts pictures of himself crying at the Star Wars trailers and posted an extended article about how he was so mad he didn't get any toys on Force Friday), and so anything he says needs to be taken with a grain of salt the size of Lot's wife. He's basically Knowles with a degree in writing.

All the other reviews sound great, though!

I thought the mad about Force Friday thing was Drew McWeeny? Not that that would make Germain any less in the tank.

Nah McWeeny was salty he had to pay alimony/child support and couldn't afford SW toys.

Which is so much worse.
That's just weird..

Watch DC fans implode in on their own logic as they rip into Wonder Woman for only getting rave reviews because of Femi-Nazis (oh, I'm sorry, Femi-Germans) while also bragging about how much better it is than Marvel movies.

Let us Force:

I’d been looking forward to this for months: Force Friday, the big reveal and release of the first toys from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I’d previously lined up for toys from Episodes I, II and III—and VII was going to be no different. But this Force Friday was a truly awful experience...

...I stayed in the normal line while I told my fiance, who I dragged along with me, to head to the Lego line. I couldn’t buy anything big because I’d have to ship it home, but a small piece couldn’t hurt. She was back with my Rey Speeder before the 25 or so people in front of me made their way through the aisle...

...I looked at my Rey’s Speeder Lego and debated just putting it down. I had been so excited to geek out withrfans and now I just felt terrible. I decided to take it just so this wasn’t a total waste.

Sure, but generally when they start this strong they still land well into positive territory. If this settles at the same or slightly better aggregate than the average Marvel film it's a win. If it stays in the high 80's or low 90's it's a triumph.

Smart timing on WB's part in terms of lifting the embargo. Good pre release WOM may well get butts in seats this weekend.

That's at least two reviews saying it's the best DC film since TDK.

Wow.

This review and Scott Mendelson's seem a bit at odds - he says all the wonkiness is in the latter part of the film, while the BMD review seems to think the first third or so is the clunkiest. While I'm going to work to keep my expectations leveled, I'm really happy to see that I can expect something basically good rather than "broken but interesting."

It'll be really interesting, though, to see how this impacts the course of the DCEU. From all reports, Snyder's effectively out as the defining voice. Wan's AQUAMAN is in production but isn't free from any course corrections from WW. Wondering if Whedon will be the big dog in determining the films' overall tone and direction or if Johns will retain the role.

I imagine that a first act set on a fantasy island with portentous accents may be offputting to some. This is a disparity I experience with the Thor movies: they're my least favorite Marvel movies not so much due to their quality (debatable) but because the high-fantasy elements and Shakespearean drama just aren't my cup of tea.

And with WW, it sounds like the third act is a full-on action extravaganza. And no matter how well-executed, some people just aren't into that.

At least the second-act fish-out-of-water-in-London stuff seems to be universally loved.

Hell, maybe she likes the toys more than him. I'm not going to bother to find out.

The high fantasy elements are my favorite parts of the Thor movies. It's everything else that falls pretty flat for me.

Exactly. So you'll probably love that part of WW.

Love seeing these rave reviews.  I'm seeing some comparisons to the original Reeve SUPERMAN, and that's awesome.
