Mr. Robot - USA Network - Page 2

Props to Rami Malek on that closing scene. Wow.  Could have easily over acted that one, but he didn't. I could feel the overwhelming frustration and anger just broiling inside.

And Shayla.  I liked her, too.  But there needed to be a real loss and she was the one. That's what I'm guessing. And the interim CTO's wife is the real brains AND creepy one in that household, I guess.

I'm wondering if we'll get the E-Corp take down in the season finale only to learn in the last few minutes it was a terrible mistake that leads the story into season 2?
My God. I'm sad. Kinda hurts but damn that camera work is amazing enough to make me smile too.

Oh no.

Could Elliot and Darlene be siblings? I think would go a long way towards explaining how fsociety could form around Mr. Robot/Elliot.

They have similar eyes. Just noticed on rewatch with the in-laws.

Catching up. Just...wow. This is easily my favorite new show of the season. The cinematography alone is some of the best stuff on television; just so very off-putting. People being framed up where they wouldn't normally be framed, the strict adherence to the Rule of Thirds. The way everything feels just a little, at times, quite literally, left of center.

And Malek. Goddamn, this guy is magnificent.

Also, gonna go into the True Detective thread and tell everyone that this basically sucked up all the first season's mojo, leaving that husk of a season 2 remaining.

I should've posted this when I came across it a few weeks ago.

Excellent change of pace episode, was good to finally care about Angela for a while. I am glad they took the time to step back from Elliott just a bit to help us better understand the other players.

I noticed Sepinwall talking about Tyrell killing his rival's wife as a spur of the moment decision, but I didn't read it that way at all. I assumed his horror was in finally going to a place he had never gone in order to attain his goals (which is saying something considering where we've seen him go). I guess we'll find out for sure soon enough.

I actually thought she was going off the roof. I like that Tyrell seems to be the most evil version of our hero. However he actually has a human connection. She knows the things he does and completely backs him. I do wonder if she will be ok with the murder.

Tyrell is a fun evil character to enjoy. Going off the rails on a crazy train!

I think it was spur of the moment. Compare to how careful he was about not leaving any sort of evidence on the homeless guy he paid to beat up, he's left fingerprints and DNA all over that lady. He's totally fucked.

Unless his plan is to have Elliott hack the DNA and fingerprint databases and swap his info with new CTO, but he wouldn't have gone through with the murder without having Elliott's commitment already locked down.

The fact he had wipes ready for both him and her felt to me like evidence of premeditation. Or maybe I'm wrong and he was just a good boy scout.

Terence Howard?
We seen evidence of proper etiquette on his behalf on these matters before.

That said . . . I'm leaning towards premeditated myself.

Why, yes . . . yes they could.

I'm thinking that Elliot adopted the Mr. Robot persona long ago, after his father died (or left??? #stillalive), as a way of caring for Darlene while Mom slipped further into mental illness.

I didn't recognize B.D. Wong without any raptors or sex offenders, in spite of catching his name in the opening credits.

BD Wong was okay but I believe this guy would have nailed the role of white rose easily.

That was really damn good. Loved the opening ballet scene and still couldn't figure out how Darlene and Angela knew each other.

Plus, I really want to play that Intergalactic Planetary video game.

Yeah while I don't mind the unreliable narrator thing in movies im not so sure if im that in love with it in a show. I mean I liked this episode alot but in a longer format like this I think I need to be able to trust what im seeing. Also should I only be suspicious of what I see when the characters interact with him or is it all scenes? Because we have seen Mr. Robot interact with others, so he has to be real right? Like his father really did fake his death......or not? Is he remembering that wrong?

When we see Mr. Robot interact with people, it's Elliott. The Mr. Robot personality is just driving. The same way we see Tyler Durden interact with people.

Understood but.....has any of that been confirmed or are we still just assuming that?

His father is dead. Mr.Robot can only be fictional.

Unless Angela is part of his unreliable narration, he is dead.

An episode-by-episode breakdown of Mr. Robot's appearances.

Updating my season's end predictions . . . Gideon will be killed during The Hack. Possibly by Elliot/Mr. Robot or Tyrell.

Good god.  They made a show just for me.  That's awfully sweet of them.

How has this been doing, if anyone knows?  I keep running into suggestions that this kind of bottomless sarcasm and cynicism isn't welcome in today's world, you gen X weirdo.  All that sneering at over produced lifestyle imagery and marketing is out of fashion.  Today it's genuine, not like in your day.  Our youth are positive, old man, and if you want gainful employment in this world you'll get with the program.

*ahem*  anyway--- this show isn't shy about all the things I've been wondering if you can do anymore.  It loves to reference reality directly.  And even the indirect stuff hews very close, like Evil corp's logo being Enron's logo.  It's not like Enron's logo, it is Enron's logo.  And Evil corp!  That's hilarious.  Not to mention cute, as you must ask, if the view point is so subjective that you hear it the way he hears it you do have to wonder what else isn't exactly accurate.

But enough stating the obvious.  I like how it sets a pretty high bar for the tech stuff, while still being fairly realistic.  Even pretty hip productions that're quite recent, when they talk about computers and science, feel they have to either layer on the jargon to Dr Who levels so people just tune it out and get the general gist, or stop and go over it slowly like teaching grandma the ipad.  This is like "It's 2015.  Keep up."

Nicely done so far.

Nerdist should be releasing a podcast with Malik and Slater soon.

Good.

I have to mentally process what I just watched. Fantastic, as usual - but with more punch.

That was oddly satisfying in a sense it verified everything we thought we knew and pretty much complimented us on how smart we are. Yet the popcorn is still popping so there's more to come for the finale!

Yes Malek is knocking it out of the park at Elliot, but I'm so enjoying Wallstrom as Tyrrell. Give them both emmy nominations please.

And the actress who's Tyrrell's wife. Man, she's perfectly creepy and scary.

In a lesser show, the reveal;which we all knew was coming, would have been a derpy moment. Instead, as Elliot admitted it to us, we shook our heads in quiet agreement and moved to the screen closer, knowing another mystery was a around the corner.  And we can't wait to find out what that is and what that leads us to.

Pretty brilliant. Well done.

I loved the Fight Club nod at the end with the piano version of the Where Is My Mind.

Wasn't a fan of fight club but I too love the nods of it here and there.

He actually said something like "you knew the whole time didn't you?". It's nice to know that writers don't think their audience is stupid. Although I kind of was because I was always on the fence, even the last episode.

I almost was. But I had a feeling that's what the writers wanted. I remained true to my gut feelings.  When he says, "you're going to make me say it, aren't you?" before SAYING it, I laughed out loud.

I'm still not convinced.

"From now on, I'll just go to Best Buy."

The opening credit montage of a handful of small businesses existing and dying over twenty years ending on an E Corp bank was a neat little reminder of the general homogenization that large business entities can effect upon the cultural environment. Something like that.

Couldn't help muttering What a world, what a world as Mr. Robot crumpled down at his grave.

Few things I'm wondering: Did Elliot's father truly work for E Corp? Did he die of cancer? Since we know almost nothing about Mom, my new wild guess is that we've been getting parts of her story told as Dad's. She is the one who died of cancer, or worked at E Corp.

Was Angela offered Tyrell's job?

Me too.   The way they handled it  made it a lot more than a sort of high concept  comment on identity or whatever (not that there's anything wrong with that) or 'lol so meta'.  They strung it out long enough and made the confirmation slow enough you really wish dad was actually there, for everyone's sake.  Then he wouldn't be quite so nuts and he wouldn't be quite as alone.  Or at least I did.

Just caught up on the 'reveal' episode with Darlene-as-sister, and have to say:

FUCKING BRAVO.

The golden age of Television continues. Everyone involved is at the top of their game. Including Slater, even if he is mostly doing his usual routine.

One question. Who was Tyrell talking to in the black SUV next to the fairground? The scene ends with Slater storming out of the car. We saw Slater as Mr Robot, but it doesn't make sense for Elliot to be there. I think.

Well, Tyrell and Elliot have formed...some sort of weird relationship/alliance, so it makes sense for Elliot to be there. The Slater personality just took over during that particular instance, I suppose.

Yeah, I guess so. I'll have to rewaych that scene.
Apparently everyone should watch all the end credits for this and the HANNIBAL finale.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER WHITE TEXT SO PEOPLE DON'T STUMBLE ACROSS THIS INADVERTANTLY

So, just watched the penultimate episode and have to say, kudos to everyone involved for honestly making me believe that maaaaaaaybe Slater hadn't died and had, in fact, been hiding from Evil Corp these past twenty years.

Also:

I love how that song is now forever entwined with its use at the end of Fight Club.

Season finale delayed due to the virginia reporter tragedy.
Why? I don't want to sound insensitive, but how much attention should this cunt get? CNN is already pushing everything else. Just watch that. The best thing to do is carry on as normal.

EDIT: By 'Cunt' I mean the shooter, obviously.

Delayed until next week.

USA has postponed tonight’s scheduled season finale of Mr. Robot in light of the murders that occurred live on air this morning in Virginia. The network has released a brief statement: “The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robotcontains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia. Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time.” The network will instead air an encore presentation of last week’s penultimate installment. The Mr. Robot finale will now run next Wednesday, September 2, at 10 p.m. ET.

Meanwhile, incensitive dolts in my Fb feed are posting/sharing the vid, from the shooter's perspective, of him killing these two people.
