The Lord of the Rings dvds from the early 2000s permanently spoiled me - I can't watch these kind of bland, vacuous puff-pieces without my eyes rolling out of my skull.

No slight on Pratt, but his spiel at the start has that irritating, unnaturally-cut-so-only-the-blandest-and-most-anodyne-statements-remain thing going on too.

"The / Jurassic movies have always been / exciting and suspenseful /////// We're telling the next chapter'.

Another pathetic complaint - why the fuck is it now trendy to score series trailers with self-consciously dramatic, drum laden synthesizer versions of the theme? Just track some of Williams's fucking exceptional music directly LIKE IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS.

Well, it's much too soon to get a no-holds barred retrospective. Maybe in 10 years.

We did get a pretty great one for the Jurassic Park trilogy a few years ago.

But then that would turn JP into a live-action Ice Age sequel and would negate the point of a park with "Jurassic" in the title. So nevermind.

Well, it's not like Jurassic Park was pulling dinosaurs just from the Jurassic period. The park is just named that because it sounds cool.

If the plot is what you say (rescuing Dino’s from a volcano), don’t say it’s implausible: https://twitter.com/abc/status/938649921015701504

I was a nerdy enough 8 year old to have 'It would've been more accurate to call it Cretaceous* Park' in my go-to bank of 'cool' facts. I don't, um, remember anyone being particularly interested.

*Because the main stars of the film are the Tyrannosaurus, the Triceratops, and the Raptors - I was (nasal sneer of condescension) of course aware that Brachiosaurus and Dilophosaurus are from the Jurassic period.

I wonder if CLOM wishes he was in the process of directing this sequel after henrybook and 'leaving' star war?

Christ almighty, how many trailers for a trailer does this thing need?

And on another peevish note, what's with the current trend for doing a 10 second sizzle real of the trailer you're about to watch, right before the trailer?

IT'S SO DUMB

I wonder if it's some measure dictated by the metrics for how many viewers stick around when the trailer doesn't immediately start with loud, attention getting footage and sounds?

Either way, IT'S SO DUMB!!!

Maybe they're all BSG fans?

Yup - that was me this morning.  "It must be Thursday there, trailer will be out", nope just a shed load of trailers for the trailer and behind the scenes of the trailer.

guys, it is Jurassic World 2, you already know it's gonna suck.

but then I remember Bayona is directing, and he brought his DP and editor, and that's a ray of hope!

but then I remember that CLOM and Connolly, the same wunder-duo that wrote the first J-World, wrote this one, too.

and the darkness in my heart returns.

CLOM!!!

BY CLOM, IT'S HERE!

This film needs a cold fusion bomb.
EH. The dialogue. The overuse of CGI.

I’m starting to get flashbacks of 2015.

i'm out

I liked Jurassic World fine. But never saw the need for Fallen Kingdom outside of money!

The trailer severely lacks a hook and the closest thing to one is Goldblum repeating "Life finds a way." Repeating an old catch-phrase doesn't make up for that, just ask Independence Day: Resurgence also starring Goldblum.

This looks...fun?

I had no expectations for the first “World” so I ended up having a blast. This one? Just doesn’t look fun.

I’d say Goldblums delivery sounds weird but...it’s Goldblum.
kinda hear something reminiscent of Serra's Fifth Element score
post #325 of 428

The T-Rex coming in out of nowhere to save the day should come with a zany comedic sting by now.

this looks like the Batman vs. Superman to Jurassic World's Man of Steel.

that is, whatever little redeeming if ill-conceived entertainment value there might have been, crushed under something more dour and overblown.

and man oh man are there some tired beats in this thing:

-"RUN! ... RUN!"

-pregnant pauses before sudden dino movements.

-Chris Pratt's face.

I don't get it so the island blows up then the movie starts?

Who is this for, cause I hate them.

This is a WEIRDLY edited trailer.

It looks AND sounds like the trailers that fans stitch together from TV spots. So disjointed.

And WHY DO WE KEEP SENDING KIDS TO THE DINO ISLAND???

I'll probably watch this in a theater that serves alcoholic beverages.

Eeeh eehhh eeeeeeee.

Every drawing I did of dinosaurs as a kid had a volcano blowing up in the background so I like to pretend they found these and decided to make a Jurassic Park sequel out of them.

I used to draw boobs on all of the girls in magazines.

Pervert.

Wait did you find some sort of fetish magazine with boobless girls?

What an oddly paced trailer!  And where are all those shots of Pratt snuggling up to the Rex that were showing up to hype this trailer?

The movie itself looks like a bunch of fun nonsense, though I wish the hook we're being sold wasn't just "It's THE LOST WORLD if the hunters were the good guys, plus a volcano."

You don't have to defend EVERY single thing like it's worth the effort.

I've already ragequit the thread. It's pointless to talk to me.

Have fun.

Doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. It can't possibly be as painful and shabby looking as JW, since it is Clomless.

Wait...a writing credit from Clom? Bah! Send it back to the tar pits.

Haven't seen any of Bayona's other films, so I don't know if he has skills.

Summer 2018, see Chris Pratt in SQUINTMAX 3D.

What exactly did you expect?

Of COURSE there's enough evidence this far that everyone is certain they'll hate it and it's terrible (yet all watch it).

From what I can tell it's about trying to get dinosaurs off the island alive before a volcano destroys it? A volcano disaster movie....but with dinosaurs. Fuck the haters, that sounds rad..

He does.  At least in terms of the direction and visual style, there's no question this will be better than JURASSIC WORLD.

Fuck, I think it looks good.  I'm still a sucker for a dinosaur film and this has enough nice shots to suggest it will be good at the movies.

And I like Chris Pratt, sue me.

I need to know one thing and one thing only to buy a ticket to this.

Does a dinosaur eat or otherwise viciously maim anyone during the course of this movie?

Yes, you say?

Two for Jurassic Park 5 please..

Oh I like the concept just fine. But this current blockbuster mentality of throwing everything at the screen because you can lacks the realism and restraint that the first movie, hell even the second movie and third movie, did so easily. Perhaps they were lucky to be around a time where budgets and computer effects weren’t there to create the whole image and SFX artists weren’t overworked because some exec got them to sign some contract that made them virtual slaves.

Eeeh eehhh eeeeeeee.

T-Rex sounds good, too.

I mos def look for subtlety in a movie that could be just as easily titled Exploding Dinosaur Island..

Agreed.

The trailer looks good, I’m a sucker for Dino’s and I thought Jurassic World was fantastic. So you better believe I’ll be there.

I would totally see that movie

If it was the dinosaurs that randomly exploded

No, I’d draw them on top of their clothes.

I was a weirdo.

Anyways, this movie doesn’t look good. And did they bring Goldblum in just for a cameo to get some lines for the trailer? I feel like we’ve already heard 70% of his dialogue in the trailer.
