Haunted place of the day 6-3-2

Hi there peoples. I've decided I need weekends off so here's the first haunted place of the week. This week I'm going to post the Haunted places I visited in New York so once again here ya go.

Belasco Theater,
New York City, New York

This place was considered one of the most haunted places in America for almost 15 years. The ghost that haunts the Belasco is said to be that of the original owner David Belasco who was seen for quit a few years after he died in 1931. An old elevator has been heard going up to his ten room siute where he used to entertain showgirls. The sounds of wild parties were also heard coming from empty chambers.

The Belasco Theater eventually turned into a sleasy strip club called the Follies. In 1965 a redheaded with a white negligee was seen by patrons and workers. She was seen descending a spiral staircase. She also threw a vase across a managers office at one point. It is thought that she is a former stripper that hanged herself in the basement of the club. She haunted the theater after it was torn down as well.

I got some great pictures of the front of the theater. I believe that the Follies was torn and they rebuilt the Belasco, of course I don't know this for sure but I do know that the Belasco is there and I gots the pictures to prove it. Who knows though maybe I photographed a phantom building.

( The Belasco is at 111 44th Street, New York, Ny 10036)

That reminds me a little of the Fox theatre here in Atlanta. It is supposed to be haunted by several ghosts. I had some friends that travelled with Phantom of the Opera that told me some stories of the place. They said that they saw some photos of some of the ghosts. One was in the make up room. It was one of those set ups where you have mirrors on both sides of the room and when you looked into one mirror, it looked like an eternity of mirrors. Anyway, in like the 3rd reflection in the mirror, you could see a face. They also claimed that there were photos of spectres sitting in some of the seats of an empty auditorium. They personally may have had some weird experiences, but I can't remember.

Howdy there people. It's time for the daily haunted place. Todays place was the most impressive place I photographed in New York. So here you go.

The Dakota,
New York City, New York

The Dakota was built in 1884. I have to say this was one of the coolest looking places, it is this huge gothic style apartment building. The Dakota is where Roman Polanski filmed Rosemary's Baby. The Dakota has had a reputation for being a supernatural site. Some workers saw the ghost of a ten year old boy walking in a hall while they were renovating apartment #77. The workers who witnessed the little boy also reported smelling an "outdoorsy ,fresh-yet-musty odor". The little boy in the hall has been reported by many other witnesses as well. The Dakota was home to a few celebrities in it's past. It was home to Boris Karloff, Judy Holliday , and John Lennon. On December 8, 1980 John Lennon was shot dead in front of this location. Quite a few reliable witnesses have repoted seeing John Lennon's ghost on the sidewalk in front of the Dakota. Unfortunately I am not one of those reliable witnesses.

(The Dakota is at the corner of 72nd Street and Central Park West in Manhattan. Phone.(212)362-1448)

Haunted place of the day 6-5-2

Boo!! Did I scare ya?
Caligari here with todays haunted place of the day.

Fire Station No. 2,
New York City, New York

This was another really cool looking place. When we arrived to photograph the fire station the front doors were wide opened so I got lots of great photos of the inside with the engines, fire fighters, and everything. I positioned myself accross the street from the fire station to get some full shots of the whole building. As I was taking pictures there was some construction going on behind me. As I packed the camera to leave I pulled out my trusty haunted places guide book and found another curious site in the same area. To my surprise, Edgar Allen Poes former house was on the same street as the fire house. I looked up the address and to surprise me even further, it turned out that the construction behind me was actually at the Poe house. So the Poe house turned out to be directly accross the street from Fire Station No. 2. I'm not going to give you peoples the story behind the Poe house today, I'm saving that for a future post. So with no further delay here's the story behind Fire Station No.2.

Fire Station No. 2 is haunted by an old-fashioned helmet double-breasted red shirt wearing middle aged man. The ghost is said to have a moustache and salt-and-pepper hair. The ghost has been seen on the stairs and in the forth floor storage room, he has also been seen in a basement coal bin. One fireman had awakened to the ghost staring down at him over his bed at 2:30 a.m. in 1991. The most recent reported siting was in 1992, William Tobin reported seeing the ghost in a long, narrow storage room on the forth floor.

Spooky huh?

(the 88 year old Fire station is located at 84 West 3rd street, in the Greenwich Village area of New York.)

make sure you check under the bed.

Haunted place of the day 6-6-2

Skyframe Too Gallery,
New York Cyt, New York

I'm so very tired today, but here it goes.

Skyframe Too Gallery is said to be haunted by folksinger Phil Ochs ghost. In the 1970's Phil Ochs owned a West Indian rastaurant in this building. In 1976 Phil Ochs committed suicide in this building. After Phil's suicide his ghost was seen by numerous people on numerous occassions. His ghost has been seen on the balcony, stairway and in offices on the lower floors of the building. The building is now an art gallery.

(This building, built in the 1880s, is located in lower Manhattan at 60 Mercer Street, New York, NY 10013)

Booga booga booga.
Yes, it's time for todays haunted place of the day. I gots some good pictuers of the outside of today place. It was kinda cool is was on this very small street in the middle of the city. The street was almost like an alley. When we went to take our photos we came in contact with the locals who proceded to tell us, when asked about the ghosts, that the place was haunted by the local drug enforcement officers ( I love New Yorkers, really I do.). Anyway todays place is....

The Gay Street (and yes that is the name of the street.) Phantom,
New York City, New York

I'm not feeling very creative today so you guys get the straight out of the book story.
Residents of this apartment building have sensed a shadowy entity moving up and down the stairways, and once, several witnesses encounteredthe aparation of a man in a black suit standing on the steps in front of the building. The ghost smiled politely and then disappeared. The apparation of a man in a top hat and tails has been reported inside the house as well. Author Walter Gibson believes the spirits are psychic impressions he left behind when he wrote The Shadowmystery series here in the late1940s. The Shadow was Gibson's crimefighting hero. His alter ego, Lamont Cranston, often wore a dark cape and top hat.

(The apartment building is in Greenwich Village at 12 Gay Street, New York, NY 10014)

Haunted place of the day 6-10-2

Hellooooo everybody and welcome back to another exciting week. Hope everyone had a good weekend. I found this haunted place and thought it sounded interesting. I have'nt been here but it sounds cool, so here ya go.

Manassas, Virginia
Old Town Inn in Manassas, just outside Washington, DC. Recently, a family vacationing from Griffith, Indiana, were caught in a violent thunderstorm one evening and sought lodging at the inn. They were assigned Room 54 of the century-old hotel. The thunderstorm had knocked out TV reception, so the husband, wife, and ten-year-old son sat in their room, talking about their trip. Suddenly they heard the sound of something crashing to the bathroom floor, but when they investigated, they could find nothing wrong. Again they were interrupted by the sound of breaking objects in the bathroom. Again, they could find nothing broken. Shortly after going to bed, the wife was awakened by a strange tugging on her mattress. The odd sensation continued, and she decided to wake up her husband. She told him there was something strange going on and insisted they trade beds. Before long, her husband was experiencing the same sensation. He jumped out of bed, searched around the room, and found nothing. He told his wife that there must be mice in the room, crawled back into bed, and soon fell asleep. His wife lay in the dark, trying to sleep. Then, in amazement, she watched her sleeping spouse levitate off the bed and fall to the floor. She tried to explain to her dazed husband that some force had thrown him to the floor, but his incredulous stare made her drop the subject and get back into bed. They got up the next morning, hoping to get an early start. The husband was putting his clothes on, and his wife had already dressed and was busy blow-drying her hair. The man walked to the window and peeked out: it was pitch black outside. He looked at his watch and realized it was only 1:30 A.M. The bewildered couple undressed and went back to bed. Finally came the light of morning. The family dressed and went downstairs to the inn's restaurant. After breakfast, the husband stopped at the front desk to ask if there was a problem with rodents at the inn. He related what had happened to manager Janie Pugh, who smiled and said: "Oh, that's Miss Lucy up to her old tricks. She usually stays in Room 52 but sometimes wanders into rooms nearby." Miss Lucy's antics had been witnessed by both employees and guests alike. Meanwhile, his wife and son waited at their table in the restaurant. A lady wearing an old overcoat and a nightgown came up to them and asked where to get food to go. The wife pointed to the cashier. The lady came back in a few minutes to thank her for being so kind. Curious about the lady's odd behavior, she watched her walk away and brush past her husband, who was returning to their table. "That old lady who just walked by you is weird," the wife said. "What old lady," replied her husband, "I didn't see anyone."

Haunted place of the day 6-11-2

Big Canoe resort,
Near Jasper, Georgia

I found this ghost story and I just thought it was fascinating. I suppose that if you were an indian who did'nt know you were dead you'd be pretty curiou about all this crazy modern stuff. Read on people this is a cool account.

One recent case from Georgia that Nancy Roberts reveals in her new book Georgia Ghosts is taking place at the Big Canoe Resort near Jasper in the northwest mountains of Georgia. For the past few years, the tall ghost of an Indian has been appearing to employees at the Sconti Clubhouse. "He is most likely to appear when the place is quiet and nobody else is around," said witness Billy Howard. "On Wednesday mornings, when I go in to work about three or four o’clock in the morning, he is at the clubhouse. He’s always curious about what I’m doing and wants to watch everything." Recently, the ghost started making noises for the first time. While straightening up a banquet room, Billy heard a clicking sound and found the ghost sitting at a table knocking two sugar holders together. The apparition has also been seen by housekeeper Gail Jones, and ever since, she utters a courteous greeting whenever she enters the clubhouse to clean. So far the ghost has been spotted in the men’s locker room, the downstairs banquet room, the pro shop, the kitchen, and in the double doorway at the entrance to the clubhouse. It is thought that the spirit is of a Cherokee Indian, possibly buried under the clubhouse, who does not realize he is dead. When the apparition appeared in the outside doorway, he took off running when a golfcart drove towards him. It was a reaction one might expect from someone living, who had never seen a golfcart and was frightened by it. The Indian apparently thought he was about to be run over.

(sorry once again, no directions.)

Haunted place of the day 6-12-2

Welcome to todays haunted place of the day. Sit back relax and enjoy.

CALIFORNIA - Long Beach

Queen Mary Hotel. This oceanliner, now permanently docked at the Port of Long Beach, was commissioned in 1936 and made over a thousand Atlantic crossings. Many incidents of strange rapping noises, moving objects, disembodied voices, and ghostly apparitions have been reported by staff, guests, and investigators on the drydocked ship. The First Class Swimming Pool is haunted by the ghosts of two women who drowned there. One is dressed in 1960s clothing and the other wears 1930s attire. The forlorn ghost of a little boy who fell overboard near the pool has also been sighted in the passageway there. For some unknown reason, many psychics have had detected strongly negative feelings in the Changing Rooms at the end of the pool. The old first class lounge, now know as the Queens Salon, is haunted by the ghost of a beautiful woman in a flowing white dress. Unexplainable balls of light and the apparition of a black-haired man in a 1930s suit have been seen by tour guides in the First Class Suite area. The Forward Storage Room, where the ship’s archives are kept, is haunted by the sounds of children playing. Inexplicable pounding sounds have been recorded near the Bosun’s Locker, which is the area of the hull which sliced the British Light Cruiser Curacoa in half during World War II. Because of her wartime sailing orders, the Queen Mary was not allowed to stop to rescue survivors, and 338 men perished in the cold ocean. The Tourist Class Swimming Pool is haunted by the presence of a woman who drowned in it, and the third-level Cabin B340 is haunted by a murdered purser and is no longer rented out because of unexplained disturbances there. Poltergeist activity has been reported in the Kitchen, where a cook was murdered during World War II. It is said his cooking was so terrible that it caused a riot among troops being carried to the front. The violence quickly got out of hand and the cook ended up stuffed inside an oven and burned to death. His ghastly screams were somehow impregnated into the ship's iron bulkhead and are sometimes replayed to startled visitors. The ghosts in the ship’s Morgue could have any of a number of identities. Sixteen crewmembers, two G.I.s and 31 passengers have died on the ship. But the most documented sighting is the apparition of an 18-year-old crewman, John Pedder. Pedder was crushed to death while trying to slip through an automatically closing door in Shaft Alley during a routine watertight drill on July 10, 1966. It was hatchway Door #13. Another crewman allegedly haunting the Queen Mary is Senior 2nd Officer William Stark. He was accidentally poisoned in 1949, when he drank tetrachloride that the staff captain kept in an old gin bottle. So far, over fifty witnesses have reported paranormal happenings on this ship, and the list keeps growing.

(The Queen Mary Hotel and Museum is berthed at Pier J in the Port of Long Beach. The mailing address is: The Queen Mary, 1126 Queens Highway, Long Beach, CA 90802-6390. Call 310-435-3511 for information or 800-437-2934 for reservations.)

Damn, that's harsh. I guess when you're stuck on an oceanliner with a bunch of men an not a single woman in sight, somethings going to make you crack.

Haunted place of the day 6-14-2

Woop-dee-doo welcome to the Friday edition of Haunted place of the day. Todays spooky treat is coming at from Burlington, Iowa. I just love these ghosts that haunt stretches of roads. So read on weary traveler.

Highway 34
Burlington, Iowa
The apparation of a black man carrying a leather bag is seen along this highway. The phantom is always walking westward along the north side of the road, and he is always seen between 1:00 and 2:00 A.M. He is thought to be the ghost of an escaped slave who died of diptheria in the 1860s and was buried in the basement of a Burlington home.

(Burlington is in the southeast corner of Iowa at the junction of U.S. Highways 34 and 61. The apparation is seen on old Highway 34, between Burlington and Danville.)

Back when I graduated from high school in 91 I moved to Beavercreek Ohio with my parents(I only lasted 9 months and then it was back to California) I used to work the graveyard shift at a bakery. On my off nights I used to stay up all night so I could keep a regular sleep schedule. We live about a mile from this cool old church with a little cemetary. Being the ghost freak I am, I decided that it would be fun to create my own ghost legend. So one night I put on my trench coat and fedora and walked to the cemetary. I sat on the church porch until a few cars passed and then I walked home from the cemetary. I made sure that when cars passed I absolutely did not respond I looked straight ahead and walked. I did this at 2 A.M. every Friday night for about a month at. After about a month I realized that it was pretty lame and stopped. Anyway I thought that was pretty funny at the time. I just thought I would share a little of my freakyness with you guys. So late at night if you see a ghostly figure walking down a dark road, be nice I'm just having fun.

Happy haunting.
