The Hoff?? Weird, missed him. OK half. England need to stop making silly mistakes. Wales started to threaten just before the half. On my third pint.

Despite supporting England I half wish Brown had head-butted him.

Dat George North. This is far closer than I thought it would be. It's getting unbearable

FUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKK. Congrats Mike.
Fuuuuuuuuuck indeed.

Still, time to beat the 'strayans. Eng and Wales through.

Bring it.

Well played, Cymru smile.gif

Awesome game. The amount of fight in that Wales team as they've lost man after man after man is extraordinary. No team plays with more heart than they do.
Fucking amazing. You just can't call it from Wales. Utterly heroic. I'm eating all my words.

Burgess flopped. Made errors and didn't do much with the ball when he had it. England need a game changer. More Jonny Mays.

Walking home pissed and pissed off. But watching Wales fight their guts out was impressive.

Commiserations BluLou. And don't congratulate me too hard. I'm Irish! Elated all the same though.

I cannot understand why Ben Youngs was taken off. Don't understand that decision at all.
Ah balls. Great atmosphere at the stadium. But still. Balls.

I nearly booked a ticket for the COMMANDO 'quote-a-long' at the Prince Charles tonight!

Aussies looking okay, shaky first half, but still - Australia. I'm basically pinning my hopes on Fiji at this point - hoping we've killed enough of the Welsh players that they'll steam roller them on Thursday and open the group back up.

Not perfect but job done for Ireland. Couldn't believe how fast Keith Earls was able to run over the line. He just exploded.

I was gutted Zebo was in touch for that try, flashy as fuck.

Saturday is going to be absolutely epic

I have to get up at 4am on Sunday so I'm going to have to miss the game live (my heart-rate says thanks). If England come up out as furious as they should be, and the scrum goes well, we should ge tthe win. The ref is Romain Poite who traditionally makes a decision on the first couple of scrums and follows that through for the whole game. Win them and it's in the bag... small things!

The scrum battle's going to be very intriguing, especially since the Aus pack fancies themselves as a force now (and deservedly so, so far). If they can even gain parity up front and free up that killer backline it'll be a long night for England. Then again - home advantage and massive resources count for plenty, it's not going to be easy for Aus either.

Both teams will paste the ABs though if the men in black continue to handle the ball like they've done in the first half against Georgia. And if DC continues to kick like he's never seen goalposts before.
This was amazing. Can't beat a smile like that.

Uh-oh, did Georgia just break McCaw?

New Zealand really need to up there game before the knock-out stages, unfortunately they're not going to get to play anybody that is actually at their level to really hone their skills...

Saying that, in a few years Georgia might be up there by their recent performances!

We really need to find a place for Georgia in the six nations.

Yeah, they should be brought in. If Italy counts in World Rugby so do Georgia.

Absolutely. On this years form, Georgia would beat Italy nine times out of ten. Bear in mind Georgia were resting players against New Zealand tonight, they could be truly scary in a few years.

Wallabies looking sharp. England defence good, but one lapse by Youngs and there's a try. Have to mark the man with ball! Don't worry about the rest of your line.

Nooooooooo. Foley again. Oh well I am half Australian, so....

England just fell apart in the last twenty minutes there. Those Foley tries rattled them and it showed.

Too many mistakes, and more damn penalties. Aussies are clinical.

That's it. We're out.

Urgh. Monday's going to be a nightmare.

Workmates will delight in it, then I have a final stage job interview with a couple of Aussies.

As a half Scottish, half English Chelsea fan, this weekend's results couldn't have been much worse.

Time to find a good book.

Even if we'd clawed it back, we wouldn't have deserved it. Turnover after turnover.

Lancaster's gone, for sure. I've always felt we've done better than we should have done under his stewardship.

Number of "Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi" txts Ive received this morning is now up to 5.
Commiserations, just a horrendous week for England. They were completely outmatched tonight. Mistake after mistake, Australia's scrum was amazing, Farrell's yellow card. It just fell apart in the last twenty minutes.

This Group of death thing is exciting in theory but as Michael Lynagh is saying on ITV over here, it's a bit of a joke having three tier one teams (four if you count Fiji) fighting for a place.

Ah, even if we'd made it out of the pools, we'd have been humiliated in the QF on that showing. I'm hoping this will provide a bit of kick to the powers that be to sort England's fundamentals out.

That's why Aus are Southern Hemisphere reigning champions. They did a similar job on the ABs when it counted in the RC. Their tight five is a mean machine, their loosies are so streetwise it's sickening and their backline are assassins from so many angles.

Well deserved but a shame for the tournament to lose the hosts. Hopefully Wales and Ireland can uphold the glory of the UNITED Kingdom.

uh-oh, you've just opened yourself up for a serious Pantsing.

Get all those Sarries players out of my England team please, starting with Farrell X 2.

South Africa 64 USA 0. Ouch. That's a team with something to prove.

X 2.

If you're referring to Bucho's geographical faux pas, I let it slide. This once.

It happens. Australians are really far away!

Amazing game of Scotland v Samoa. Was rooting for the japanese helping result, but that was intense fast, attacking rugby. Great game.

Yeah that was a good one. Australia/Wales could learn a bit about attack from those two!

I take back that bitchy comment. This second half has been epic!

Fair play to Aussies, they know how to defend!

How Wales didn't score there I'll never know. A bit of quick ball wouldn't have hurt them. Another good game though.
Wales really should have scored there and I think North missed an opportunity as well. Oh well. South Africa next, it's been done before.

I'm quietly confident England should win this.

Straya's the best side on the planet right now. Coming out unscathed from the group of death even when they play two men down proves it beyond doubt, especially with the ABs producing error after error in every game against opposition who weren't providing the level of comp Aus were facing and Ireland making Italy look good.

I figured the upper case would be enough signal that it was an intentional dig rather than a faux pas, but that's what I get for being cheeky on the internet I guess.

Good lad. For the record, I know Australia and New Zealand aren't the same place!

I never doubted you a second Bucho. Your wit is above reproach.

Some pretty devastating Irish injuries but what a game. Throuhly deserved. M absolutely buzzing! I had cousin in the stadium and am so jealous.
Welp, that settles it then. ABs will be out at the quarter final stage again.

Well, it kind of is.  It's just that the locals insist on calling it "Australia" instead of its proper name, The West Island.

Much like Bucho, the NZ media is in a frenzy of doom and gloom over meeting the French, in the Quarters, in Cardiff.  All it needs now is Wayne Barnes to be the ref and the wailing and gnashing of teeth will be heard around the world.
