Twitter Truth: "As accomplished/experienced as Kobe is, I'm disappointed he never adjusted his game based on his decline in athleticism. Same bad habits."
"as a huge Kobe fan, that's one of the main things that separates MJ from Kobe. The adaptation and game maturation."
I don't think the difference is that Kobe never adjusted his game when Jordan did. I think the difference is that Jordan retired before he lost his athletic edge. Kobe's played 7000 more minutes than Jordan did in his career and he's coming off a series of major injuries. His body is breaking down in a way Jordan's never did. It's not like Jordan stepped into a role player capacity as he got older (ala Vince Carter). He was just as ornery and stubborn about being his team's alpha dog as Kobe was, he just left the game before his body fell apart (also, he started from a much higher level than Kobe did)
"Only person with more 25/25 games with at least one block over the past 30 years than Drummond... Hakeem Olajuwon"
Drummond has leap forwarded over all my guys to solidly stake his claim as second best Center behind Boogie.

You tell me to pick a team to win this year, and my first pick is still Lebron. I don't care if he doesn't put up big fantasy numbers this year. It's a boring pick, but no one else can carry a team the way he did just last year.
Curry would be #2, then a big drop off to the rest.
Carmelo wouldn't make the team.
LeBron struggles to shoot, and his handles aren't that great, even though he demands primary ball-handling duties.
Other than that, yeah, he's talented enough to take any group of scrubs very far in the pitiful East. But those two holes in his game are why he ends up short in the end. Okay, two titles. Surrounded by Hall of Famers. Both in special circumstances (super-green OKC team that wasn't ready for primetime, lockout shortened season that brutalized most of the West).
The whole thing about basketball is having to carry your team like that isn't really representative of good basketball. Good teams play the best ball. LeBron is always having to 'carry' people. There's an argument to be made there.
I think if he just let a GM do the GM thing and build a team around him, he wouldn't be carrying guys. But he's meddled in the team-building process since the original Cleveland days, then started to very publicly build teams around him in Miami. Its ultimately about ego. I'm not trying to win a game for LeBron, I'm trying to win a game for the team i put on the floor. 1-8, or 9, or however deep we go.
Man, that Celtics-Nets trade from a few years ago is going to go down as one of the most lopsided trades of all time. Brooklyn has a legitimate shot at being the worst team in the league this year. They're probably not as bad as Philly, but it's close. They've got no outstanding young players and not even that much cap space next year, and Boston has their next 3 picks (2017 is a swap)! And those picks are unprotected! Boston is probably going to end up with a top 3 pick, maybe the #1 pick, and that's just this year. And for that, they gave up a broken down KG and an old Paul Pierce. That's highway robbery.
Jordan should just try punting the ball from the line. Couldn't hurt.
Great shooting from downtown, hitting free throws down the stretch, and timely clutch defense. Textbook Warrior win.
That 3-point attempt by Paul near the end. What was that? Horrendous. Must kill him that he's not "the man" anymore. In fact the Clippers took it to the Warriors when he was on the bench. He goes back in, Warriors go back ahead. Food for thought for Glenn Rivers.

This was tremendous by the way. I never knew his role in AIRPLANE! was originally intended for Pete Rose.
D. ROSE LIVES!
I get the real sense that in three years the Blazers are gonna be a top-3 team. I think Lillard has a plan. All those dudes around him are so young, and very tall, and very athletic. If they keep that core together and just focus on developing into the best possible team, they have most of the pieces. I can't wait.
Noah on Rose criticism: "He doesn't care at all. But it bothers me for him. People don't realize how hard it is when you've had injuries."
Twitter Truth: "We had all the jokes but imagine being as athletic as D Rose was and then BOOM. Torn knee ligaments. Rough."
That's funny. I know Noah's trying to stick up for him, but, "He doesn't care at all" is EXACTLY the problem a lot of people have with Rose. He has repeatedly made comments like not wanting to risk being sore during business meetings a decade from now.
Rose's injury history makes people WANT to feel bad for him. But his own comments and behavior make that near-impossible.
I know they've around for a while, but watching a Celtics game the other night, those alternate grey jerseys are atrocious. The Celtics have one of the most iconic jerseys in sports, why would they have them wear those grey t-shirts?
Watching "The Starters". They were discussing the Grizz, saying how worried they are about them. Pre-Season title contenders, Grizz have looked lackluster and disinterested, getting blown out on more than one occasion. It hit me: wouldn't this be a perfect destination point for Thibs? He's a motivator, and the team already has the pieces for a renewed defensive identity. His coaching would elevate them quickly and might at last get them over playoff hump.
The Grizz appear to me as a team that has run out of gas. They got by for years with grit, hustle and meanness. But day to day, father time and a historical lack of quickness have caught up to them. They are skilled enough that they may pull off a few winning streaks once the league settles into the midseason doldrums and the games slow down. I could see them being a dangerous 7 or 8 seed, but I think their title window has closed. I don't think any coach could get them past the second round, and I would not be surprised to see them out of the playoffs entirely.
Twitter Truth: "Said it June: If you had a top-10 pick in this past NBA draft, almost had to try to screw it up intentionally to not get someone really good"
"sometimes I dream
that he is me
turned down four picks
for frank kaminsky"
Cracks forming in Sactown:
Karl will be gone by Thanksgiving.
I seem to have found myself in the great minority on that one. D. Fish was his boy, he's koolatin up at Barnes' old house with Barnes' kids, who called their dad because kids know when a situation is messed up. Fish deserved to catch some hands. People falling over themselves decrying violence. Shit, its a violent world. Best way to avoid trouble is to not conduct yourself like a goddamn snake.
Also, I'm not really sure why Barnes' ex is not allowed to have a gentleman caller at her residence. Maybe her kids aren't cool with it, children of broken marriages often don't think much of their Mom's new suitor. Doesn't mean their psychotic dad gets to bust in and the beat the guy up.
James is proving to be a shitty GM as Wigging looks great. With Wiggins under $$$ control they could have added a big to help out.
And looks like the Bulls will just be another playoff team. Wasted Rose and Noah. Such a shame.
