Yeah. I just feel total, unflinching apathy toward this film.

I rewatch the first three ALIEN flicks almost yearly. I should care about this. But I don't.
I'll probably see this!

There are still aspects of Prometheus that I like (mainly the visuals and Fassbender as David), so I am excited to see Scott take another shot with these elements without Lindeloff there to ruin things.

Everyone is setting themselves up to like this movie by surprise. I can feel it.

I mean... It's not like Lindelof put a gun to his head.  He has the perfectly service prequel script he had, and then he brought in Lindelof and said "yeah, lets go with the muddled mess."  I'm shocked he didn't look at the script for the Martian and go "no no no no."

I certainly would not defend the shoddy work by Lindeloff, but he's not in a position to tell Scott where the story is going, or force/demand story beats.  He's writing what Scott is telling him to write, and yes he's doing it poorly and without any depth, but Ridley is in charge there, he's steering the ship and can veto anything that he's unhappy with.  I respect Ridley as a director, but his instincts as a storyteller are mostly awful.  He should not be involved in crafting a script.

That's exactly the point I was trying to get across.  The lack of Lindelof should not make anyone feel better about this.  It's Ridley who does this shit.

Oh, and to continue the pearl-clutching, you might be interested, Guy Pearce is returning as Peter Weyland...let the bitching and moaning resume!!

For its flaws Prometheus really isn't that bad. I'm less interested in this one just because it's the back to your same old facehuggers and Xenomorph's again.

Really?!

He has to have been made young again, right? Because otherwise he'd be ancient, as this is set some time after Prometheus, correct?

Could it be a flashback?

This movie is totally going to double-down on that stupid "Jesus was an Engineer" idea Scott kept throwing out there in interviews.

Gotcha. That's better than what I was expecting, at least.

Guess someone's been watching 'Westworld'...

I'll never forgive them for notvusing Sydow for the Weyland role.

Really?...I think Sydow lucked-out!

Shouldn't it have been Lance Henricksen?

He should come back as just Weyland's head. The two heads can just sit there and comment on the movie's plot like Statler and Waldorf.

Don't tempt 2016..

2016 is already fucked as it is in regards to that.

It just said, "thanks for the reminder".

It's from the official Alien facebook page, as far as I can tell. https://www.facebook.com/alienanthology/

I'm interested to see what new flavor of 'awful' this franchise can create.

Pffffft.  Alien Isolation tells me that running does absolutely no fucking good.

Smooth head not shitty Cameron ridged head. Also not stupid whatever at end of Prometheus.

Interest piqued, but skepticism still intact.

I liked Prometheus, warts and dumbness included, mainly because its gorgeous, has some great moments and you can see the skeleton of a great movie in it (you know, before, Fox brought in Lindelof because of course this movie needed to have a big name scriptwriter attached*).

No Lindelof, Fassbender and a direct connection to Alien makes me look forward to this, but with suspicion and caution.

*I still cant believe Scott actually bought and agreed with Lindelof's changes to the original script by Jon Spaiths; that script was really solid and perfectly in tune with Alien)...but somehow, Lindelof had to bring his usual BS into the movie.

Hopefully Scott has read the Prometheus critcisms, ignored all the people who liked the film despite its flaws, and is going to course-correct with this new one.
This movie is going to suck and we all know it.
That's the spirit!

All I care about is if it's "Dirty, but sexily so."

If all I get is gorgeous visuals I'll be happy enough..
That attitude is what made prometheus what it was, with scientists on an unknown planet trying to pet clearly terrifying viper aliens.

Fuck that stupid movie. The response to the original script being "too prequely" was a massive fuck up, followed by a pandering sequel that appears to be the prequel alien movie they avoided in the first place!

If I was MAKING the movie, that's not the kind of attitude I'd have.

But since I'm not, I'm tempering my expectations to fit what we're actually likely to get..
You are holding them to a lower standard! Don't! The martian was amazing! It's ok to expect a lot from ridley again.
No no no

THE MARTIAN was a fluke
Drew. Goddard.
Completely forgot Ridley directed The Martian.

Prometheus though. Gah. What a piece of average-modern-looking shit.
At least it doesn't fuck up the lore TOO bad, with the small but ignorable exceptions of the engineers appearance and the ties to life on earth.

I always expected the alien to be biological warfare.
I'm glad Freeman and I are on the same page about Prometheus. This is our "Martha" moment.
I'm batman in that scenario.
