STAR WARS: REBELS Season 2

I'm looking forward to this series more than the movies......

Premiere is Oct.14th

There is a I STILL Love Star Wars Thread for this y'know.

That's for general Star Wars stuff.  We had a specific thread for Season 1 as well.

Or should we just move ALL SW talk to that thread, including the Force Awakens threads?

But yeah, I'm really looking forward to this.  The Siege of Lothal was awesome.  Looking forward to seeing the Ghost crew move into the universe at large.

And Sarah Michelle Gellar as an Inquisitor?  I am all about that.

Interdictor Class Cruiser, And the B-wing as a Mon Calamari design. They're pulling a lot from the EU. When all is said and done, I think more of the EU is going to be canon than most people were expecting.

That premiere episode was a lot of fun.  Loved the Jaws homage, right down to the Wiliiams-esque music that played over it.  And they really seem to have upped the scope of things this season.  There were some really cinematic shots, like the overhead one of the Star Destroyers in formation, and some of the vistas of the desert planet.

Completely agree.  They've really upped the cinematography, and the Jaws homage stuff was spot on perfect.

Think this season's going to be great,

That music was pure Barrel Chase, and it was great.  Really fun direction/Jaws homage.  And it's nice to see Rex back/the series deal with what the heck happened to the clones after the war.

Really enjoyed this. Like others have said that the scope and cinematography were fantastic in this episode as was seeing Rex and the other clones. Next week should be a lot of fun. Clones vs Stormtroopers!

They're really coming out of the gate strong this season.  That battle in the sandstorm was epic.  And I never thought I'd be nostalgic for the Clone Wars series, but they really did a nice job giving Rex and crew some emotional beats.

Holy crap.

Loved every minute of that.  The whole sandstorm battle was fantastic and I loved Rex and Ahsoka's reunion at the end. As a fan of the CLONE WARS show it was great to see them together again.

All in all it's been a great week to be a SW fan.

Some very intriguing questions raised by this week's episode in regards of the nature of the Inquisitors and just how many of them there are.  Always love an episode where Zeb gets to shine.

I love the fact that Rex seems to be sticking around.

And I dig the fact that the Inquisitors don't seem to be this unified group, but more a loose affiliation with a shared mission and yet with their agendas and their own ideas about how to about things.

Yeah, the Inquisitors definitely operate on their own. Would love to see how Vader found them.

This last episode....that Star Destroyer explosion was pretty cool....

Great episode and even better REBELS has been renewed for a third season! YUB YUB!

The New Mid Season Trailer directly ties into FORCE AWAKENS.

Interesting to have a kid's show where you know basically everyone with a lightsaber, outside of Vader, is toast.  Maybe Kanan makes it out alive, renounces his jedi ways, and just returns to smuggling after Ezra falls/dies/pulls a Kylo Ren.

If this show doesn't end with Kanan and Hera ending up raising rabbits together on some backwater and Ezra dying in a beautiful act of self-sacrifice it'll break my heart.

Currently back over in Russia so I'm catching up on this season. Heres hoping if they have Ezra go dark side, they do it in the only way that's ever made sense (to me): by putting him in a situation where he truly believes the only way he can save his friends is by using his anger/hatred to get the job done. And let him succeed! But find out later that doing bad things changes who you are. So you can win, but HOW you win is everything. Which is what it seems Yoda is saying in this teaser, so color me excited.

Is this The Maw?

I think the mid-season trailer was great, though I think there's some very deft use of what could be visions dominating it.  Obviously Yoda's spectral presence is a bit less etherial this time when speaking to Ezra.  But the stuff with Kanan and the Jedi Temple Guards, Ashoka and Vader, and Vader and Ezra -- hard to say what may be real and what's not.  With 8-10 episodes left this season, it wouldn't surprise me that the shots of Ashoka and Vader fighting were NOT from their real final confrontation, but just Ashoka's vision realizing what's happened to Anakin.

I missed the credits last night but I thought the voice of Fenn Rau sounded familiar...none other than Lucius Vorenus.

I thought this show was spinning its wheels for a bit, but things have definitely gotten back on track.  There have been some nice character pieces recently, and the last episode at the Jedi temple was a lot of fun.

Well that was a great finale pushed over the edge into amazing with that closing montage.  So many threads laid out for next season.

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

Old Crazy Maul is my favorite Maul.  Playing old and feeble like Yoda in ESB and getting Ezra to unlock his anger, then brutally murdering the hell out of the Inquisitors and blinding Kanan.  And then off to parts unknown (Obi-Wan spinoff film?).

Also, man, Kanan getting blinded was fucking brutal.  Did Maul literally slice him in the eyes with his lightsaber?!  Going all Zaitoichi was pretty sweet, though.

The moment where the mask is cracked and Ahsoka sees Anakin's scarred, Sith eye was the moment that duel truly landed for me.

I was pretty impressed with this finale.  The challenge with incorporating Vader in any capacity pre ANH has always been that it would lessen his impact, or reduce his threat.  But I have to say Filloni and co have handled him amazingly- creating not just scenarios which don't diminish him, but perhaps some truly iconic moments.

Even in VERY dangerous territory like Ezra vs Vader- it's clear Vader is never really fighting him, and it ends quickly and decisively.

Even more amazing is how restrained they were with Vader's fighting style, not falling into having him be more outlandishly agile than he's presented in the movies.  He's a wall.  And the one good blow Ashoka gets on him is believable and pretty amazing moment.

And whatever sound-work they're doing to JEJ's is working- I hear Vader, not kinda-Vader.

My only hesitation about the episode was the ambiguity about Ashoka- I think the default decision has to be her and Vader were separated in the explosion and they both limped away.  I like her character, but I think a strong death here wouldn't have been a bad thing.

Got the impression that Kanan blocked so close that the flash and sparks from the colliding lightsabers was right in his eyes, blinding him.

Oh yeah. That was pretty fucking awesome on so many levels.

That Ahsoka/Vader duel was something else. Wow.

Very glad that this got renewed for another season. Amazing stuff Filoni and Co. are doing here.

Season 3 trailer:

Yeah, yeah, Thrawn.  But way cooler is that the Bendu (the giant alien Kanan talks to about the Force) is voiced by Tom Fucking Baker!

That 3.5 minutes was more exciting than the whole of TFA

Still can't stand the look of the show for some reason, but that looks exciting.  Lots of callbacks to the Clone Wars series.

Am I crazy or is The Outrider in a couple of shots of the trailer (first at 1:08, and there's a second shot where it's docked to the Ghost)? If they're bringing in Thrawn could they be bringing in Dash Rendar, too?

Haven't watched this show in some time (not the show's fault) but this clip made me laugh out loud.

I'd love to see more of this type of "Bwahahahaha!" villainy in the Star Wars movies.

Filoni said it's not the Outrider, just another ship of the same model.

Yeah, the look continues to be pretty meh, but this show is getting very good. Even its big "fan service" moments have been handled well.

I'm looking forward to what's in store.

Does Maul shop at Nordstroms now?

Finally finished S2.

Have to say, I'd put the last two episodes up there with the very best of Star Wars.
