Blizzard's OVERWATCH - Page 27

Sweet, I'll hop on in a bit this afternoon.

I'll be down to get my placement matches out of the way starting Saturday. My wife is leaving town and I'm gonna wear a hole in this game.

Turn up ... for heroes!

Why are the villains in this game also called heroes, anyway?

That's dumb.

Well shit Amos maybe you don't know them that well!

I absolutely, with 100% confidence, expect Talon to be revealed as not actually evil at some point. That's how Blizzard rolls. And I'm fine with that. Maybe Overwatch 2 will have everyone come together to fight space omnics or something.

Squad tonight!

I've been online all week! My status was set to offline tho so I guess no one could see me. :(

We celebrated International Womens Day by picking all women in a CTF match. Pharah flew around back and stole our flag in overtime. :(

I tucker out about 10pm these nights. The earlier the better for squading up.

And when the 28th comes around, I'll probably be back into Destiny a bit.

Ayyy good times Amos.

What happened to the OG squad?

Season 4 rankings were brutal, and pegged me at 1150SR after my placement matches. Pish Posh! I have since demonstrated the error of Blizzards algorithm, and climbed up to 1550SR Silver rank without a lot of hassle. If I can hit Gold by the end of season I will be happy with it.

I've got some time tonight, free around 8-8:30 central time.

Sheeeyit I'll be there

Man if I could get in a solid hour of Overwatch without getting subjugated to the cultural revolution that would be great.

I'm gonna try again tonight!

Did something happen after I signed off last night?

One time Mal and I were matched with some rando on the mic who went HARD infowars on us.

Haha nah man after the first couple rounds - where we were whamming and bamming - my wife came home and started giving me shit. I'm not some professional e-sport athlete man, if I'm getting distracted my game craters. And thats, like, the thing she does. "Motherfuckers playing Overwatch? Better instigate a conflict!"

Cmon bae. She's got like a dozen fucken classes leveled up to 60 in FF14. I don't give a shit I'm doing fun stuff in the real world. But I can't wreck shop without getting distracted by the angry spouse? Maaaaan. Its super frustrating.

Thats why I had my mic muted, cause the domestics. Like when you play NBA 2K and its always some guy who's girlfriend is yelling at him in the background. That's me trying to cap the point.

My wife didn't start dating a man who played video games and I too have experienced similar friction.

But yeah I'm gonna try to beast out again tonight. I feel like I've gotten real good at picking to team composition, and take fewer dumb deaths from running too far ahead.

I dunno if PSN crashed or what, but I was kicked out of that last match and couldn't connect w/ yall to report what happened.

Oh well, it was after midnight anyway.

And now that guy is probably one of Trump's most trusted cabinet members.  Sorry I haven't been on Overwatch lately, fell down the rabbit hole in Horizon big time and loving every minute of it.  I have to go tackle a Stormbird and Thunderjaw  for a side quest.    Next week Mass Effect!

Maybe the cat got behind wherever and DCed the router like you predicted earlier in the evening?

Not outside the realm of possibility. Goddamned worthless cats.

Anyway I finished up my placement matches last night. 2 wins, 1 draw, 7 losses and still ended up at ~1975 SR. Go figure.

I can still play with you! Heh I was almost 2900 and I think I fell back around 2830.

I am pretty bored with the game. I want the new hero. I want new maps too.

Truuuuuu new maps might be crucial.

I got your invite daggers but I'm not actually home. I think the kids are watching TV on my account.

Well I got my ass kicked up and down the platinum ranks.

Did okay the first round at least!

new hero today?

And Winston bufffff yeah bring it

Oh word is the Winston buff in the patch? Man I been waiting on that, I love Winston from way back but dude doesn't hit for shit.

I think so? His shield cooldown now starts as soon as the bubble is dropped, which isn't amazing but it's something.

They also fixed Bastion I think.

Winston

  • Barrier Projector
    • Ability cooldown now starts when the barrier is placed, instead of when it ends

Developer Comments: This change should help Winston do what he does best: distract the enemy team and block damage.

Well. Okay. Better than nothin I guess.

The new hero is fun but dies easily without a healer and literally no one plays support.

She's not interesting enough to make me not care about the fact that there are no new maps.

New (old) Destiny stuff next week has me much more excited and that is so sad.
you know how the end of payload missions can get pretty heated, with a brutal fight for that last meter? Orisa on offense makes that a thing of the past.

In other news I got PotG as Winston last night.

WINSTOOOOOOOOON!!

How is Destiny these days? I checked out because it seems progression in everything was built on quicksand. But I did enjoy my time there! Especially in the Crucible.

I checked out because shooting at the same 4 aliens on the same 4 maps gets pretty dull after the 20-hour mark. For someone who complains about lack of variety, Destiny seems like a ODD choice.

Oh there is no variety in Destiny at all. They are releasing "new" stuff next week that is literally old material just a little harder....that's why I said it was sad that I was excited about it. At least it's mindless and way less stress than OW at times.

I am burnt out on OW. I am so sick of spending two weeks climbing 500 SR and losing it all in two hours.

I'm itching for a new game too.

I've been getting my PvE fix in Bloodborne, dying a lot to the same boss over and over.

Orisa suffers from having no mobility and no instakill method.

Roadhog has poor mobility but has his hook and insane damage. Mcree has his stun and fan the hammer, Ana has her sleep dart for escape and the grenade to defend herself. Torb has his turret etc etc.

Orissa while strong, I think has to be played very carefully, almost completely based on position. Because if you get out of position or flanked your basically fucked. She is almost a support masquerading as a tank.

I still think she will be strong once teams learn how to play with her, but she lends herself to a rather careful and plodding playstyle. I almost think bastion is a better choice across the board to fulfill her role, he even feels a bit more tanky due to his self heal.

I'm just not overly taken by the character design or mechanics. Hero 24 should have been some rampaging DPS guy with flames for hands or something, after the notably niche additions of Ana and Sombra. (Altho Ana ended up being a mandatory Support role, so what do I know.)

I kind of suspect her kit is designed largely around neutralizing these kill-boxs scenarios where one team just has impregnable positioning. Right now its a popular playstyle that mandates Reinhardt as a counter. Mandatory picks are lame.

Hero 24 should have been a fucking map.
