It's finally revealed.

http://www.creature-corner.com/news2/jun04house.php3

Now the real waiting begins...

*does another gleeful geeky squeak*
Err. Sorry. Enthusasim.

FINALLY. God, I've been waiting to see a Rob Zombie-directted movie since I saw at IMDB he was supposed to do Crow 3 (that was quite a long time ago, wasn't it?).
Too bad it's getting trimmed a bit. Ah well. Don't care. I'm hungry for some carnage from this guy!

MGM, eh? I thought that might be who it was. Either way, this is fantastic news.

Well first off I'm happy hapy happy that we can finally spill our guts on this news, it is muy excellente and I was getting impatient.

The trimming, though expected, still bums me out though, but hopefully Monsiuer Zombie will have his hands in a nifty and loaded DVD release.

Also, is anyone else having issues posting?

I click on "reply" and keep getting the "you are not logged in" message, sigh, this is happening on random threads as far as I can tell, I hate being restricted dammit frown

Well shit, you must be doing something I'm not, because I sleep with him every night!

Does this mean we have to have a catfight or something now?

*Waits to see a pic of Dan and and Johnny on Dan's profile like the Creeture's*

If someone sends me a pic of Dan that can be arranged, though my peace of mind will never be the same...

What started as a silly joke has now taken a very dark and unnerving turn...

I feel so dirty!

Let's do some math, shall we?

MGM...

- Cut Supernova to a PG-13...check
- Restored Supernova to an R for DVD...check

- Cut Original Sin to an R...check
- Released Original Sin unrated on DVD...check

- Cut Rollerball to a PG-13...check
- Restored Rollerball to an R for DVD...check

- Releasing the most complete version of Last House on the Left on DVD in August...check

Yeah, I think we'll get to see House uncut someday.

And fuck Artisan. Fuck them right in the ear...

October 18th, supposedly. Same date as 'Ghost Ship' and 'Ring', I believe.
Holy crap, what a weekend. I hate to say it, but those other two will probably draw more of a crowd than 1000 Corpses.

Ring will be marketed towards high school kids, with its young, pretty actors and clever ad campaign.

Ghost Ship will probably perform like the other Dark Castle features. A slick campaign (from the producers of HoHH and 13 Ghosts!) and a relatively "safe" horror plot.

1000 Corpses is a wild card. Sure, Rob Zombie fans will go, but it doesn't have stars that will pull the mainstream in. And who knows how the public will respond to something as gruesome as this movie sounds?

It would be cool if it becomes a huge hit in the theater, but it's more likely to become a cult hit on video.

i dunno, people have been ACHING to see this flick for what seems like aeons.i think its gonna do quite well.but what do i know?

It'll be great to check out House of 1,000 Corpses on the big screen finally, even in an R-rated cut. As for the competition, I'm not sure if it's fair to expect Ring to be marketed to teens with its "young, pretty actors". Naomi Watts is pretty, yes, but she's also in her late 20s, early 30s, I believe - so she's not exactly a teenybopper lead like a Jennifer Love Hewitt. I've liked Watts since Tank Girl and anyone who saw her in Mulholland Drive should be anxiously awaiting her next film. If anything, I think Ring will be marketed towards the upscale, adult crowd that made supernatural thrillers like What Lies Beneath, The Others and The Sixth Sense into popular hits.

You're right, it won't be as teenage-cast driven as something like Scream. But isn't the plot about high school students passing around the killer videotape? Also, the print ad I saw imitated a "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" comic book page, which suggests a kid-centric campaign to me.

Naomi Watts was amazing in Mullholland Drive. I'm looking forward to this one.

The plot is about a curse video tape, yes, but it has nothing to do with high school kids, save they are the vicitims at the beginning. The actual story is about a reporter (Watts) who is trying to figure out where the tape came from and why it has a tendency to kill everyone that watches it. It will be marketed as a supernatural thriller, that I can almost guarentee.

If, indeed, all three movies are coming out that weekend, I see 'Ghost Ship' doing the best buisness, because it is more "safe" horror. And yes, we've been waiting years for 'House', but we're horror fans and sadly not a major part of the population, but it will definetly make some cash at the b.o.

I think they've placed these ads well in advance of the movie to try and recapture that "urban myth" vibe that propelled Blair Witch into the stratosphere - the idea being that people will vaguely recall seeing something in a magazine about this videotape, and rumours will start that it's based on a true story.

That's my take on it anyway.

Yup, it's important to remember that we, meaning horror fans and cult movie connosieurs, are a niche group. Studios want to pull in the biggest demographic possible for every movie, therefore making the most money they can. I'm not saying this is bad, it's just something to keep in mind.

Folks on this board might be upset about great foreign movies getting the remake treatment, or classics like Clash of the Titans, but the general public doesn't give it that much thought. The mainstream movie-going public doesn't rent movies that are more than five years old. They don't watch anything with subtitles, cuz reading is for books. They might not even know anything about a movie before they go to the theater.

Personally, I'm amazed that people get in a car, go to the theater, stand in line and THEN look at the markee and try to pick a movie to see. That's totally backwards from the way I do things.

It's all a matter of priorities and interests, I suppose.

(Steps off soapbox)
