Smart man. Great beginning of a script - but SHIT ending of a script. Maybe the new director will bring in a new writer.

This film will sink without trace.

Yours

William Friedkin

I kind of liked the idea of Frankenheimer doing an Exorcist movie. I mean, if the world is going to get one anyway, it might as well be done by a guy who could do it right.

It wouldn't have been the first sequel he's done, either. Frankenheimer did the sequel to Billy Friedkin's French Connection, also. There would have been a certain symmetry to doing another Friedkin sequel.

I had the pleasure of seeing Frankenheimer speak last year. He really knows his craft. Check out the commentary on Ronin to see how he plans out every shot.

Here's an idea.

Warners should hire RICHARD STANLEY to replace him...

Actually, his remake of 12 Angry Men was quite decent. I'd love to see him do Stephen Hunter's Point of Impact.

Hmm - I met him in California. He seemed nice.

However, I read TERRIBLE things about him in a Hollywood expose, and all of his latter films have stunk. Rules of engagement is the closest thing he's ever made to a watcheable movie. He's gone down the toilet and no big loss to the project.
Stories of Friedkin's madcap antics are manifold and can be found on numerous film websites.

Suffice to say that if some crazy fu**** decided to let a shotgun off, six inches from my ear, in an effort to achieve 'dramatic effect' - I'd be pissed too.

That said - I have a healthy respect for WF. He is/was, without doubt, a talented filmmaker and he doesn't suffer fools gladly.
