iron fist header

I bailed on Dexter sometime after the season where John Lithgow made it clear that the show had reached its peak. I remember thoroughly enjoying that arc, but the stuff that happened immediately after? Utterly forgotten. I say this because I’ve never actually seen the immensely disliked final season of Dexter, but it has to be one of the most universally reviled conclusions to a show in recent memory. How much of that blame lies on showrunner Scott Buck’s shoulders I can’t begin to hypothesize about, but hearing that he’s going to be heading things for Netflix’s Iron Fist does give me a little bit of pause.

To be fair, the guy also ran things for Six Feet Under and Rome, two shows that continue to have praises sung about them (again, I can’t attest to their quality, having only seen the pilot for Six Feet Under), so maybe they guy just got dealt a bum hand with Dexter. Here’s hoping he’ll be able to guide Danny Rand a.k.a. Iron Fist to the kind of success and popularity that Daredevil and Jessica Jones have received.

Heroic Hollywood broke the story, though it doesn’t make up for the silliness of Umberto Gonzalez dressing up in a suit to tell everyone who Star-Lord’s pappy was and being 100% wrong (according to James Gunn). They also nabbed a synopsis, so read that if you feel like it:

“Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.”
