What does Michael think?

Surely there are better sources for viewing impressive car driving.

Funny, I enjoy most of the franchise, but I think Tokyo Drift is the most legit "movie" of the bunch. It always feels like the one actually trying to do something. *shrug* Different strokes I guess.

What "something" would that be?

It just seems to have the strongest story of the bunch even if it's been done a thousand times before. I just don't hate the movie as much as everyone else especially when I compare it to 2 and 4. I can see why people don't care for Lucas Black, but the rest of the movie has always been harshly maligned to me.

RONIN comes to mind.  Oh yes.

When y'all acknowledge that the person the entire film revolves around is a talentless plank of wood and still insist the movie's "good":

That's not what I said. I implied he doesn't bother me like he does others. He's not going to win any Oscars, but he doesn't ruin the movie for me either. I think he's just fine, and the movie is, IMO, not even close to the worst of the franchise.

ETA: I meant to actually say that I believe it has one of the stronger stories of the bunch, not the strongest.

I wouldn't say it's the worst. But this is a franchise that didn't become watchable until installment number five, so that's not saying much.
I find 2Fast eminently watchable.
You find the dock fight watchable!

(Am I doing this right?)
You are! And it is!
I saw Part IV a few months ago and then promptly forgot everything about it. That'll teach me to catch up on what I've missed.

They're all kind of like that. Kind of like the Police Academy movies.

Much to the surprise of no one, the always-trustworthy TMZ is reporting that Johnson was actually referring to Diesel.

We're told The Rock has butted heads with Vin during the production, in part because V.D. is a producer and has made decisions that didn't sit well with the former wrestling champ.

Whoa.

So I guess the Rock is done with this franchise.

I assume most of Vin Diesel's notes as producer are:

Not enough Vin Diesel.

I'm reminded of this

I remember hearing that Diesel was difficult during the production of the last one, not coming out of his trailer and that sort of thing.

It's so strange to me. You make millions of dollars to play pretend. Chill out. You could have my job.

ooooh, I wish that documentary had english subtitles!!!

I've never seen the movie and didn't know there was a documentary for it.

Very particular kind of people make it in that industry.  Pretending is only a part of those millions.  There's a lot of high-pressure politics and wrangling that we don't see when it comes to these BIG MACHINES (especially since the guy is involved from the very beginning of these movies now).  Doesn't surprise me that there will be some 'childish' acting-out.

I wanna childishly act out!

Go to 36:46 for where Vin Diesel goes Vin Diesel.

There's a funny O&A clip on YouTube where serial masturbator Louis CK talks about writing a joke for Vin Diesel at the MTV Movie Awards. It didn't go as scripted.

Without context, it seems like he's trying to get the ship back on track and fix something that has gotten messy!  I don't have enough context!

Also, I assume Diesel is a bit like Edward Norton.  Another actor/director who has a habit of meddling with the director!

It was building for a while between Diesel and Kassovitz. Basically at this point he went over Kassovitz's head and gathered the cast/crew on his own calling out the entire production which kind of fucks the trust in the director at that point.

ohhhhhh, I wonder if I could find a version of that documentary with english subtitles.

The auto-translated ones on Youtube are nonsensical.

I feel like I would always be super nice and profesh around The Rock.

"Daddy's gone..."

So was Paul Walker mommy?

yes I think so

No more parents. Time to become the bat.

I think Diesel played up the cast being such a "family" off screen but I don't think it ever really was. It sure helped publicity though.

It's one of those families where Daddy disappears for two sequels then comes back with a new gf.

It's one of those families where when Daddy's around it's all smiles but the minute he turns his back they all kind of make fun of him.

so... messed up just like real families!

Some words of wisdom for The Rock:

Crikey, that speech. There's something both sad and hilarious in how Diesel probably considers himself as the main draw for FAST 8.

So few pages ago we were wondering who was going to replace Paul Walker as the blonde, blue-eyed, 5-o'clock-shadow guy of the team. I thought it was going to be Lucas Black. And all this time Scott Eastwood's name was on their cast list.

I feel stupid.

Sounds like we're going to get a trailer on December 11.

That sucks. I was hoping to get a trailer before the end of the world.

I created a duplicate thread by accident. Copying my post from there:

So the new The Fast and the Furious movie is called The Fate of the Furious. Trailer on Sunday. Next year's biggest Oscar contender.

Trailer teaser:

It’s official! The title of #F8 is THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS. Tune-in live on @Facebook this Sunday for the trailer debut! pic.twitter.com/EtTwdcxtpX

Edited thread title.
That's the dumbest, punniest and ridiculous title I've ever heard and oh god, I'm so stupidly excited for this.
I love that stupid title so much.
That is the most ridiculous title ever.....and I saw a movie called 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Dumb titles are par for the course in this franchise.
