I was hoping that our return to The Flash would be a big story arc episode, but instead we got what I’d call a very satisfying “of the week” entry. The Turtle (it’s Galen! The Chief lives!) turned out to be a much more demented villain than we’re used to seeing on the show, Barry and Patty’s relationship finally culminated to a climactic point, and even Jay Garrick proved why he’s still hanging around S.T.A.R. Labs. All in all, not a bad week.

While I’m happy that Barry and Patty’s story has come to a big turning point, I’m kind of disappointed that Patty didn’t figure out The Flash’s identity. It felt like the episode was building to that moment due to her reaction to being saved at the museum, not to mention The Turtle capturing her because she’s what The Flash cares about the most. Honestly, it kind of made Patty look a lot dimmer than she’s portrayed as. If this really is a sendoff for Patty (if it is, she’s gotta come back), it’s something of a weak one.

Meanwhile, the burgeoning relationship between Joe and Wally has gotten off to its necessarily rocky start. I do like that Wally is already obsessed with speed thanks to being a drag racer, so I hope we don’t have to wait too long for him to join Team Flash. Every time I watch this show, I’m reminded how much of a secret weapon Jesse L. Martin is. Does he just have the magic ability to fill his eyes to the brim with tears but never release them? That’s his superpower.

Also, Harry has gone full dark (no stars) now that he’s become a reluctant ally of Zoom’s. I did dig his badass takedown of the Turtle at the end (did… did he kill him?), but I like cantankerous Harry more than I do grim Harry. I’m very intrigued to see how his demeanor will change next week.

Because what? The Reverse-Flash is back? This has to be Eobard Thawne from Earth-2, right? What the heck can this possibly mean? It looks like I’m going to get my wish for a big story arc episode next week. Damn it! Why can’t I travel through time to next Tuesday?

Favorite moment: Team Flash all dressed to the nines. Not only do the boys look smashing in tuxedos, but Caitlin was straight up gorgeous. I could also give this moment to Jay and Caitlin drinking champagne out of beakers. Adorable!

Unfavorite moment: Cisco was laying on the Cisco a little bit much this week. His snarky attitude works best when it’s tempered with some heart, and even though he provided that moment when he offered to vibe for Harry, it didn’t balance out with his more Cisco-y moments this week.
