The Chicago Cubs March to the 2016 World Series - Page 4

Looks like this is happening.  Don't know anything about Torres other than he's your top minor league prospect and has a real high ceiling, which is exactly what the Yanks need right now.  Hopefully we'll see him in a couple of years.

Chapman is a freak.  He's a human flamethrower which is exactly what the Cubs need.  You guys are trying to win it this year so it all makes sense.

its official. Conflicted but at the same time it's the reality of sports now.

As to what they gave up-doesn't matter if they win. Torres is suppose to be legit and I really liked McKinney. Warren never clicked her so that's no loss. No idea on Crawford.

It helps the bullpen immensely. If you can make it an 8 inning game(7 with Rondon who's legit) then it just makes everyone relax.

Theo couldn't let the Giants or Nats get him.

And now we trade Andrew Miller to the Giants or Nats for all the prospects.

11.5 games up and 12 in the loss column over the cards. Last year at this time the Cubs were 9.5 back.

The starting pitching is back to form and Fowler is back are the top 2 reasons the Cubs are back on track. It's beautiful to watch. And now a 10 Game home stand to lengthen the lead. 2 vs LAA, 4 STL, 4 Mil. Cubs can really just bury the Cards with a series win.
Clicking like a mother fucker! Coast to the div title and give players rest.

Soler is a freak. Two months off and was terrible in his rehab assignment. Then this weekend.

10 in a row. The division is the Cubs and now it's just best record overall. Let the Giants/Nats fight each other in the NLDS. Both have great pitching staffs. Dodgers, Marlins, or Cards are weaker. I'll take my chances with them.

Gotta love kicking the shit out of the Cards.

81-45. That's insane to think about. On pace for 104.

Time to think about playoffs. They should have home field edge as they are up 7.5 on th Nats. Shockingly the Dodgers surpassed the Giants after being down 6 games.

As for the wild card 5 teams are still in it. Of all of them the Giants worry me the most but if they don't turn it around they might drop from that too.

I won't root for anyone. I'll just hope the WC game goes 18 innings and the winning team wastes 2 starters.

20-4 over last 24. 29-10 since AS Break.

Was rooting for them hard last night. Awesome comeback win. Keep it up through the weekend.

Only problem is while the Cubs will beat up on the Giants for you, they will do the same in September to the Giants. I'm going on the 4th. Should be the only chance the Giants have to win as I'm a jinx.

Last year's 4-game trip to Chicago was a disaster for the Giants.

They'll take 2 of the 4 next weekend.

Bryant has the MVP wrapped up.

So....In four years

College Player of the year

Minor League player of the year

Rookie of the Year

MVP

That pretty fucking crazy!  Not to mention he's played 4-5 positions this year.

And Russell has a great at hitting 100 rbi's.  The kids continue to impress daily.

Cubs magic number is 18 and it's not even September yet.

And interesting note from Cubs Twitter- Cubs are 20 games over .500 against the NL central.

We had 74 wins at this point last year and won 97 games.  We have 84 wins now.

How about Hendricks!  Dude is a machine.

You hear about what Hawk said during the Sox telecast yesterday? If not search it out. He basically says Todd Frazier is better than Kris Bryant. Steve Stone seemed stunned he was making the comparison and tried helping him out.

At the game again today. Am 0-4-1 going but this is first game when they lost the day before.

I'm not a jinx. So tempted to leave the game after 11 again. But the day off on Monday I was ready to stick it out.

Wrigley tip-getting food/drinks in the bleacher area is easy. Lines are never long. But holy sit are the lines long in the main part. Bleachers are General Admission so you can walk the entire stadium. Went to get some ice cream and and the lines for everything including the bathrooms were super long. Get your food early or wait for vendors.

41K at miller park yesterday and 3/4 had to be Cubs fans.  Amazing sight to see.

17 game lead is biggest in 109 years-a -1907 they finished 17 games ahead of 2nd place Pittsburgh.

And the records keep on falling. I would looooove to clinch in STL in front of "the best fans in baseball".

Step 1 complete-win in he NL Central. 3 more steps to go.

Looking like Mets vs Giants in the WC. Cards are gonna have to step up big to avoid a collapse.

Both Giants & Mets have good staffs so it will be tough but their offenses struggle so it's a wash.

The most unlike Cubs season ever. Only ONE day not in first and really they have had a 5 game lead or bigger the entire season. It's just so fucking odd. But I can get use to it.

Is it wrong sitting here in the morning watching highlights and celebration videos to have tears streaming down my cheeks?

Man, what a year and I want that WS so damn bad.  I just love this team so much.  Never been prouder to be a Cubs fan at this moment.  Let's keep the party going....

....and going.

edit:  My Wife keeps asking when does the season end?  I want my Husband back.  And the first thing my kids ask me in the Morning is if the Cubs won knowing what kind of mood I'll be in.  LOL!!!!!!

Can't believe that I can't turn any of my kids into baseball fans.  I mean WTF!!!!

The oddest thing about it is their was never a moment I didn't think they wouldn't win the division.  Been the most stress free dominate Cubs team I've ever seen.

1 down, 10 to go. My heart can't take this.

Great fucking game by Lester. Ross is MVP of this game though.
I'm rooting for the Cubs but the Giants are like bugs that you just can't seem to get rid of.

Great game.  Pitchers on point and Lester does what he does.  He's been so damn good this year and I love that defense shift pickoff throw by Rossy.  Man, that was beautiful.

2 down and 9 to go. Jaws is such a mediocre pitcher. Glad the Cubs didn't sign him for that money.

Repearlt-Holy fucking shit.

Best part was the Baez's hit off Strickland who brushed him back the game before for celebrating too much. Then Baez went nuts at first.

Another crazy stat was the runs saved by second basemen and Baez wis in the mix even though he has played around 900 less innings.

And yesterday is why the Cubs got Chapman despite he DV issues- you couldn't let a team like the Giants, who wanted him, get him. It also shows why you always have to have a farm system to get players when you need them. Giants just didn't have enough good players to get him or Miller.

Yep.  If you have a chance to get the best closer in the game you get him.  They aren't going to go after someone who wouldn't fit in the clubhouse.

Fuck that was crazy. Not a fan of taking Lester out early for an on pinch hitter in Soler. It worked eventually.

Chapman almost got out of a jam. Hopefully he'll get pissed and be focused for the next game.

One more. They have to find a way to get to Kershaw. Heyward has to sit in favor of Almora. Rizzo is the only lefty in line up then. My line up

Fowler
Bryant
Zobrist
Rizzo
Baez
Contreras
Russell
Almora
Hendricks

Going to be insane Saturday if they get a lead.
I think it ends Saturday. I think we'll get to Kershaw with a couple and Hendricks does Hendricks. Baez is a fucking stud. Holy shit!

In holy mother fucking shit News-Kyle Schwarber is going to hit in Arizona fall league Saturday in hopes to DH if Cubs make World Series
post #194 of 289

That'd be an awesome story.  I'm not sure how much impact it would have on the series, but for him and the Cubs' fans, it'd be very cool.

He if he can hit it's huge. Schwarber is the Cubs all time leader in HRvin the postseason. He's the perfect DH.

I'm sick of the MSM and their inability to let Bartman go.

Anxiety is high. Not nervous but ready to get it on.

I waited 25 years to see my team in the Super Bowl.  I can't imagine waiting as long as the Cubs have to get to the World Series.

Good on you guys.

It a weird feeling. But I expected them to do this. This is a great team. The teams of the past seemed like 1 and done. The 2003 team had pitching but the hitting was suspect.

This team should be great for years to come.

But it's time to make Cleveland miserable again.

Congrats on getting there, especially to the few of you that keep this thread active as truly hardcore fans, and yes it is time to make Cleveland miserable.

Growing up in Wisconsin one hell of a long time ago, my dad shoved the packers down my sister and I's throats, and while I gravitated to Detroit sports teams (specifically Lions and Wings...was never really a baseball fan) at an early age, my sister adopted the Cubs and Bears as her own teams.  I also have one of my oldest and best friends that lives just down the way in South Bend IN, and he has also been a lifetime Cubs fan.

They are both in tears right now, and to only say that they are happy would be an understatement based on just talking with both of them.  Let's hope that the team can now get those last 4, because they sure as hell look like they have the right balance to do so.

And one day I can only hope that my Lions can get it done in the same sort of fashion The Cubs have so far this season...one can only hope!

Yep. Woke up and Cubs are still in the World Series. Just have to finish.

I think Schwarber is making the roster. It's just too perfect.
