The Chicago Cubs March to the 2016 World Series - Page 6

Wow. Just wow!!! I've only been to Chicago once but I'm getting kinda emotional. So happy for the people of such a great city.

Incredible game. Hats off to Cubs fans. That's gonna be some parade.

We already had one in '05.  It was pretty good too!

That was worth staying up for.

Fucking Cleveland. They can't just lose a World Series; they have to come just close enough to winning to make you really feel it.

The game was great, though, and I suppose I would have been rooting for the Cubs in any other scenario. Somehow it seems fitting for the Cubs to beat Cleveland, which makes Cleveland now the team with the longest World Series drought.

Between this and the election my adrenal glands are gonna look like shriveled up raisens by next Wednesday.

Best game I've ever watched. What a series. Congrats Cubs, it was well earned.
Only caught the last few innings, but that was pretty great alright.

Helluva game 7. The Indians have now lost in extra innings in game seven TWICE.

It has now been 30-ish minutes since the Cubs last won a World Series. Congrats.

Now that was a fucking game of baseball.

We are now living in a world where the Cubs are World Series champions.

Green apples are 108 calories. It all ties together.

Yes it still happened. Holy mother fucking shit.

That was a game for the ages.

So Anya, how hungover are you?

Ken Burns is probably having a very busy morning lining up Inning Eleven.

That was a great game - I'm more a basketball guy than a baseball guy, and a Red Sox/Nationals fan more than a Cleveland one, but those last couple innings were thrilling to watch. Seeing teams break through droughts like that always brings a smile to my face.

I would have with a video or some audio had I not been on my phone.

I am not a baseball guy at all. I didn't watch this season, nor this series. However, as a Chicago guy that has seen his fair share of Cubs games at Wrigley, I am elated. What a helluva show.

Half the fun for me was watching Bill Murray's antics and reactions.

I stayed sober cuz I wanted to remember it all. Plus getting really drunk makes me sleepy and I would have drunk a lot to get through that game.

I know Maddon is getting a lot of shit for using Chapman too much in 6 and it cost him in 7 and I get that to a point. But you have to get to 7 first. I wish he kept Hendricks in longer cuz Cleveland wasn't hitting him hard. Even keeping in Lester longer was probably a better play.

But if Maddon is getting shit on, then Terry Francona needs some of that same heat too. He over used his bullpen in all 3 series, part due to necessity, but using Miller for 2 or 3 innings multiple times caught up to him. Using Kluber as a starter for the 3rd time caught up to them. Maybe instead of Kluber in game 4 they could have had a bullpen day and saved Kluber for 5. Maybe they win it in 5.

No mater what is said about Joe they still won.

Congratulations Cubs and Anya!

I had no dog in this fight but my desire to watch history in the making.  And even though the Indians have had a dry spell the longer drought for the Cubs won my loyalty.

I'm just glad we don't have to see another one of these threads for another 100 years.  :D

J/K Anya, keep on keeping on.  Maybe next year.  Too.

Cool:

I just wanted to watch some good baseball, and holy shit did these two teams deliver.  I didn't watch every game but I did see bits and pieces of most of them.  Indeed, I caught games 2 and 3 almost entirely when I was stuck in Boston last week with very little to do.

Both teams are to be congratulated for their efforts.  Both teams competed with honor and should be proud.  That game 7 will go down in history as one of the all time greats.

That reminds me.  We will soon be seeing third world children wearing "Cleveland Indians: 2016 World Series Champions" apparel in online charity photographs.

I'm not quite clear. The article says he drove to listen to last night's game with his Dad. But then it goes on to say that the pact he made with his Dad was "we would make sure we listen to the games together." Did he only listen to last night's game at the gravesite? If so he sorta half-assed it. Less than half-assed, actually.

I am so glad I wasn't the only one wondering where he was during the other six games.

He pretty much waited until the Cubs were in a position to clinch. Complete default of the pact.

Good, good.  Let the hate flow through you.

Not to mention how did the NBC affiliate in Indianapolis even know to cover this story in the first place?

"Hey WTHR, I'm gonna be out fulfilling a World Series pact for my dead Dad over at Greenwood. If you gotta crew out in the area stop on by. No sense in keeping this a private matter between father and son."

Anya, may I suggest the title of next season's thread be; "The Chicago Cubs Race to Defend Their Title Before Nuclear Annihilation 2017"?

I was thinking something along those lines. A prequel to The 100.
