The Chicago Cubs March to the 2016 World Series - Page 2

It seems like the lesser pitchers are trying to nip the corners and make them swing outside the zone.  That may work for a guy like Kershaw, but when they miss these Cubs hitters are patient enough to wait.  They had 11 guys reach via free pass, 10 walks and 1 HBP.

It seems like these pitchers are just afraid.  I can see why but walking only makes it worse.  You just have to throw strikes and hope for the best.

And looking at the Cubs April schedule-Colorado, @ STL, @ Cincy, Mil, Atlanta.  They can run up 20+ wins.  They almost have to with these teams.

Agree.  April is really soft for them.  17-20  wins at least is very do-able.

9-2

Arrieta is just amazing.  The day after the defense sucked balls he shuts them down through 8.  Believe has a 40+ scoreless innings streak at Wrigley which is nuts considering how much the wind blows out.

3 game lead over the Cards, 4 over the Pirates.  Wainwright is sucking early which helps.  I'm getting a 2001 regular season Seattle vibe from this team.

I'll be there tomorrow trying not to pull a Bartman in the front row in Left.

I hope you're right about this.  Including the part where the Mariners lost to the Yanks in the playoffs.

Russell out, Baez in today.

Prediction: 10-3 Cubs win today.  Baez dong today.

Awesome!  What a perfect day for a ballgame man!  The place will be a Zoo today.  Let us know how our beautiful baby (Wrigley) is looking.

I didn't get front cow by the well. I'm above the ne part in left field so no chance to Bartman a ball. Next game will be right field cuz nobody goes there first

Of course they lost and didn't do shit.  And I got fucking sunburn.

BUT

On my way back I stopped at Target in the Loop to find a bathroom and I noticed someone familiar.  I continued to look and I nearly bumped into John Locke.  Fucking Terry O'Quinn.  Didn't want to bother him so I didn't say hi but if this was 10 years ago I would have and totally fan girl'd out.

Yeah, that sucked!   Lester was on and pitched really well.  Gotta give props to the Rock pitcher.  He had really good stuff, attacked the zone,  and kept the hitters off balanced.

The hardest hit ball was by Lester and that tells you what kind of game it was.  lol

Cards tonight!

Cards played classical music during Cubs BP and then turned it off. Cubs said fuck it and brought out their own music. Lol

These teams fucking hate it each other!

Heard the Cards played Chelsea Dagger last night too.  Not sure if that was mocking or not.  Either way they got their ass handed to them by Lackey who they didn't even try and resign.  Poor move.

Cards beat up on the bad team and scored a ton but are having trouble with the upper tier ones.  Can the Cubs sweep?  Garcia will be tough but they can do it.

Fowler has been on a mission this year!  Holy crap I'm so glad he come back.

Let's get it going tonight.  Hopefully it doesn't rain and they get it in.

11-3  and 2-0 vs Cards with their 3rd and 4th starters.

Not worried about their hitting yet.  Still very early.  They are being patient at the plate and the hits will come.

I'm a bit worried about Soler's defense.  He misplayed a ball last night into a triple and in the Rockies series he threw the ball to the wrong spot costing him a run.  Hell at my game on an out he threw the ball to the wrong spot.  Baez called him on it but nobody was on so no biggie.

Heyward.  Why do teams run on him?  Cards should be kickingthemselves as they should know better.

Heyward been killing the ball this series and nothing to show for it.  Man, is he good on defense.   Can't fault the Cards for running you had to and a perfect through got him.

LETS SWEEEEEEPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!

Cubs pitchers know how to rake.

And it looks like Cincy pitching may help the Cubs bust out of their slump.

Arrieta no hitting Reds through 5 but at 74 pitches.  He won't make 9 so I hope he gives up a hit soon.

He made the 9 and got the no hitter  16-0

No more words for Jake...

That was a complete team domination.  Holy crap was that a wrecking ball.

My team, the Cubbies!  So much pitching!  So much hitting!  So much wow!

This is so satisfying, being a long-suffering fan and all.

The Cubs run differential is 67 in just 17 games. 105 runs and their studs are barely hitting .200.

Plus their top 4 starters are fucking great.

99% of the time when a person say that an announcer is against their team they are wrong. Thom Brennaman is part of that 1% against the Cubs. I don't know how you can be pissed at a fan base that always travels well and cheers for their team.

I don't think Milwaukee is a very good team.  If they are tanking they should trade Braun ASAP.

16-5

Cubs had 11 walks and 2 HBP

The top 3 teams in the NL central are legit.  Reds & Brewers are dog shit.  The Cubs could easily go 33 and 6 vs those 2 teams.  Already 8-1

There are about 4 teams in the NL that fit that-Padres and the Cubs next opponent the Braves.

Let's just hope KB is fine.  Seem's like it's just a mild sprain.

He looked fine.  I'm sure he'll get the day off tomorrow.  I could play left and the Cubs would still win.

Besides 3AM is smoking hot

He's been awesome this year.  I hated him last year because he never did shit and I never got why Theo and Maddon loved him so much.   I mean he's selective, takes walks, and has a quick bat, so...What the hell was I thinking!   One thing I've learned the past 5 years is never doubt the Owner or the FO.

And how about Ross this year!  He's playing like he's looking for a 3 year deal!   I love that dude!  I'm thinking he comes back next year as a coach or something.   Maybe if Davey gets a manager job he'll slot in as a bench coach.

They are skipping Hendricks for the Pitt series.  Hammel, Arrieta, Lester lined up.

18-6

Well the game got a little chippy after the Pirates hit Zobrist intentionally.  They chased Cole out before the 5th ended because his pitch count got up to 105.

Arrieta/Lester the next 2 so they have a great chance to win if not sweep the series.

Deadspin is doing something great.  The managing editor(or founder) is a huge Cards fans so when the Cubs beat them last year they wrote a huge piece on it.  Now they upped the ante by writing a story for each loss.  The latest

STL is 12-13 and 6.5 back.  Good times

19-6

5 game lead over Pirates
7 game lead over the Cards

Cubs could lead the division by 15 @ the break the way this thing is going. Pirates are one of the best hitting teams and the Cubs have shut them down. Would love a sweep heading into the 4 game set with the Nats. I'll be ther Sunday. Right Field this time and barring a rain out I should get to see Jake.

That was the easiest sweep in a while. Band the Piratesnare Good. .283 batting average coming in and they did nothing.

6 game lead after 26 is nice. But the Pirates are notoriously a slow starting team so a big head state is welcome

Bring on the Nats

cccc can you send a pm when you see this? For some reason I can only access CHUD from my phone. Forgot my password and it won't let me reset it saying I blocked CHUD when I know I didn't. Thanks in advance

I sent a PM to jackknife. Cubs 20-6. Unreal and that was complete domination of a good Pitt team.

Thanks. Makes no sense I can't log on

21-6 with a makeshift line up the past 4 games. This team is so deep. They are 100+'wins bound.

Now maybe all those people who said the Cubs haven't beat anyone can shut up. 4 in a row from them.

22-6. Crazy start. And the bats are starting to heat up. Everyone over .250 except Heyward

They better not mess it up for me on Sunday

6 in a row. 23-6 and for some reason I'm nervous I won't be getting a win tomorrow. And Arrieta is going. I'm nuts.

I really want to see this team against the Mets. See if they learned from the NLCS.

Looks like the Cubs dodged a bullet with not getting Price. He has lost a few MPH off his fastball and has an ERA over 6.

And the division lead is 7.5. I don't know how to handle this good fortune.

A 5 hour game. I left early so not to miss Game of Thrones

Arrieta wasn't good today. High early pitch count led to a 5th inning exit.

180 million dollar man sac bunted in the 7th. Great call cuz Heyward is not hitting

Seeing cahill hit and almost kill the opposing pitcher with a line drive was funny

24-6. .800 ball

And a weird statistical anomaly- Harper first player in 100 years to reach base 7 times without an official AB.  That's kinda cool.

Reminds me of the time I went to the Sox-Rangers during the last year of Comiskey... no game ended up being played, but it was the longest rain delay in history.  Over seven hours. Love those obscure little baseball records.

I saw that. I believe he also was a first to 2 games in a row as he had 3 walks Saturday and a sac fly.

They also had military people throwing out the first pitch. First was a female station at the reserve base in Arlington Heights-the worst excuse for a "military base" in the country.

2nd was a Medal of Honor winner from Chicago who got a huge standing O and really wanted the applause. He then proceeded to 3 hop the ball to home plate. I hope he never had to throw a grenade in combat.

Right?  That's nuts, but why in the hell did Baker not hit Murphy behind Harper?  That's so damn obvious, and Maddon exploited that to perfection.

Typical Dusty. He wants the lefty righty lefty order so teams have to make a choice in later innings but Murphy is the only other guy hitting on the team

And his one hit was really an error. The ball went off Bryant's glove and into the Cubs bullpen allowing Harper to score.

Zimmerman hit .249 last year and is 13 points under that now. Instead of spending everything on pitching they should have got another bat to hit behind Harper. He'll be a FA soon enough and if they don't get him help its hello Yankees

Yep.

How about Javy?!?!   Holy shit can they guy play the infield.  His baseball instincts are off the charts.  He's become so valuable to this team.

Javy and LaStella should play 3rd and Bryant in LF at this point. Silver has no confidence and can be a liability in LF.

Yep.  I don't know how many times I've said that Javy would make that play when Zorb or KB doesn't make a play.  And these guys aren't slouches on D either.   Javy is just superior.
