WTF happened to the Jags offense? They aren't even getting junk time td's anymore. I'm 6-1 in my $$$ fantasy league but A Robinson is killing me. How does this beast only get single digits in yards?

I think that last garbage score puts the lie to what you're saying, Sir!

But yeah, the Jags are brutally bad.

Greg Olson.

I'm watching the Arizona Coyotes get manhandled by the refs for the second time this week.

I went to Rifftrax "Carnival of Souls". Not sure which was worse--that movie, or this game.

I really like Carnival of Souls!

Greg Olson fired by the Jaguars.

Hey, it worked for the Bills.

Yeah, more tied games!  This will bring the viewers back!

Andy Dalton is Muff Cabbage. Seriously, that fucking guy stinks. And the Bengals defense really misses Mike Zimmer. I predict they'll have a new head coach next year, followed by an inevitable slide into bad futility (as opposed to the last few years of "good futility").
I've been predicting Marv Lewis being fired for the last few years. Hasn't happened and won't this year. Bengals like being just above mediocre
post #1060 of 1931

Huh. I didn't think icing the kicker ever worked...

Yeah, but now I'M predicting it. Because they aren't (and won't be) above mediocre.
Another OT game with Oakland and Tampa bay. At this point I'm pulling for another tie.
I hope Dickson is drinking heavily.
The NFL execs must have been thrilled with that outcome. Two ties in a weekend would have been talked about all week.

Well, Derek Carr single-handedly made that game/week worth watching. Well, that and the laugh riot that was the Raiders getting called for 12-men twice, then on the 2-pt attempt having NINE men on the field.

This year I'm only watching NFL games when I'm already at the pub for the best chicken wings on Earth (smoked Thai Chili-Lime wings).

I used to pay for the Sunday Ticket package, and now football is an "I'll watch if it's on at the bar" event. Like tennis.

Maybe I should get into Rugby instead. What I saw of it over in Australia / New Zealand was some highly entertaining carnage.

Considering Oakland should have won that game at least twice before that point, nah, I'm okay.

I mean seriously, when a team works that hard to hand a game to you, it's only polite to take it from them.  And we couldn't even do that.

I did see a pretty epic takedown when a Raiders fan, while being escorted from the stadium, just hauled off and punched this Bucs fan two or three times in the face.  Took about six officers to take him down and cuff him.

I wonder if he plays defense.

Raiders fans are like a nationwide gang that infiltrate stadiums everywhere, its best to avoid them entirely.

Oh, nearly every one I talked to was actually pretty nice and no more obnoxious in supporting their team than we were in supporting ours.  It was just irritating that there were so damn many of them.

Nah, you're confusing Raiders fans with Niners fans. Raiders fans are goofy as shit, but most of them are harmless. Niners fans are violent, thuggish fuckheads that will fight fans of other teams or even each other, at the drop of a hat.

You'd think it would be the other way around.
So, anyway. The Cardinals' season is pretty much done. We really needed to at least split the last two games, and we managed to fuck both up. I don't see us making the post-season, and I think the team is due for a significant shake-up.

I think we got too big, too fast. We're Seattle, except without a QB who could close the deal. All or Nothing seemed to be beneficial while the cameras were rolling, but now it feels like the team's become complacent and lacking fire. Bruce Arians is half the coach he was last season (how can you fucking not challenge that fumble in the first quarter? And it wasn't the only obvious challenge opportunity he missed), our defensive coordinator can't coast on Todd Bowles' playbook anymore, and holy shit our Special Teams needs a complete overhaul.

This has to be Palmer's last season. He's got no gas left in the tank, and our deep ball no longer exists. He's 2015 Peyton Manning without the mind for game management. Still, coaching insists on the deep ball and it puts us in terrible situations, each game. David Johnson is fantastic, but we're going to run him into the ground. The kid plays virtually every snap in the first three quarters, and I'm scared as hell that he's going to get injured... but we have no one else to move the chains. Fitzgerald doesn't want to ride the QB carousel again, so he's likely to retire, too.

I don't know where that leaves us. I don't know enough about college ball to know if the QB draft class for 2017 is any good. And I wouldn't want us to draft one in the first round anyway, given Steve Keim's track record in the first couple of rounds. Speaking of which, the man can spot sleeper talent, but we need to completely reevaluate how we scout line talent. John Cooper was a bust. DJ Humphries is a bust.

Anyway, this is just long-winded lamentation for my team. We came close, but the window is pretty much closed. The part of me that enjoys change is ready to see someone new under center (just please not Drew Stanton), but the lifelong Cardinals fan in me is terrified of going through half a dozen QBs in a season again.

QB isn't too bad for 2017. Top 10 right now is:

1. Kizer - Notre Dame

2. Kayaa - UM (this is a shaky one to me)

3. Watson - Clemson

4. Trubisky - UNC

5. Webb - Cal

6. Mahomes - Texas Tech

7. "Swag" Kelly - Ole Miss

8. Falk - Washington St

9. Hill - BYU

10. Leidner - Minnesota

There's also Barrett from OSU, Dobbs from Tennessee, and Ward from Houston. But there are a decent amount of QBs. I've seen about half these guys play before--I'd stay away from Kelly and Kayaa.

Being a fan of Ohio, Barrett seems like he'd be a steal in the Draft, but I simply cannot gauge the QBs in Meyer's system. I thought Cardale Jones might've had the goods after he won all those high-pressure games in their championship season, but he's not played well in the few opportunities he's had in the NFL.

Then again, he's playing for the Bills. Their own coach has already fucking given up on the season.

Happy hat MLB beat the NTL even for one day. I hope with some ratings drop the owners will start to doubt Goodell and fire his ass. Then the new guy can start to undo some of the crap Goodell got rid of like the end zone celebrations.

Fire Goodell into the sun.

I haven't seen all of them play, but I can safely say that Dobbs shouldn't be mentioned in this conversation. He has a better chance of being an astronaut than an NFL quarterback. I'm not joking.

Oh, now I'm pissed. Word is out that Bruce Arians was told after Carson Palmer's "fumble" that replay was malfunctioning, and the play couldn't be reviewed. It was very, very clearly a forward pass - intentional grounding at worst - and it was ruled a fumble, which was scooped up for a touchdown by Carolina's defense. It busted the team's rhythm and we never recovered.

Thanks, NFL. Maybe you can start testing your fucking equipment, or I don't know, maybe show the play again on the big screen, or have the network go to commercial and review the network feed?

Jesus Christ, this fucking league.

Arizona being the recipient of bad calls is a theme this year.  Who did Arians piss off?

Oh and a check must have bounced, or Moozlebech the Unclean One stopped returning Pete's txts:

Yep. Here come the Vikings that I know.

So much for the Vikings being contenders. They are letting the Bears run all over them. One thing to have a weak offense-that you can overcome.

Figures I pick the Vikings in my suicide pool. Fuck you guys. Plus I was up 40'going against Howard and Diggs. Should have been an easy win. Now I'm nervous as hell.
As a lifelong Vikes fan...yeah ya had to think something like this was going to happen.

Wtf happened during that bye? 5-0 going in. 0-2 in ugly ugly losses coming out? I just don't understand.

These teams have us figured out and Norv Turner is stuck in his same Norv Turner rut.

I mean...fuck.
Fuck you Vikings for not stopping Howard.
I'd say it's more the Sam Bradford we all knew existed.
Good job, Trent Williams.

Come on, no breaking news post about Percy Harvin putting down the blunt and returning to the Bills? No one?

I thought we tried to stick to RELEVANT NFL news here. I'll believe this is relevant when he scores a td.

The Vikings fired Norv. Not sure how that helps the o-line. EDIT: Correction - Norv resigned. (sure)

I'm sure it was a mutual thing.

http://www.startribune.com/norv-turner-resigns-as-vikings-offensive-coordinator-pat-shurmur-to-take-over-duties/399653581/

Glad to see him go.  We've needed a fresh outlook with our offensive line for a long time.

Pat Shurmur huh? This Browns fan sends his condolences.

Norv was a genius when the Vikings were undefeated, now he's the scapegoat.

Sam Bradford was never the answer Vikings fans. He's the picture of mediocrity.

It's always funny how stuff plays out - ask a Vikings fan in August how he would feel if they lost Bridgewater and Peterson by week 2, but were 5-2 and with a de facto 2 game division lead in week 8 and said fan would have been ECSTATIC.

I'm all for Norv leaving.

It certainly can't hurt us.
Hey DT-your Cards franchise has the longest championship drought in American sports. No pressure.

That's definitely the first time I've heard that since last night.

So the Falcons/Bucs game is 7 to 7 halfway into the first quarter.

For the three people on the board who give a shit.

I chose Doctor Strange over this, although I have the second half on now.

Ha ha I also went to Dr Strange. I quite enjoyed it!
