And Rob Bricken's FAQ.

These fuckers swanning in with their one word appraisals and then fucking off. Are we not deserving of crumbs from your lofty table? Are we to be kept in these shadows until Friday? Are we to rely on the word of men like DCFANBOYYYY? Take pity on us. Ask yourselves, what would the Son of Krypton do?

Really just grasping at anything that comes out of this due to eager curiosity. There are two reviews on Rottentomatoes that are not kind. They are translated from Spanish.

I see a Thursday showing at midnight in my near future..

read the one review in spanish, and its harsh; basically calls it a massive dissapointment in every sense and fears it will permeate the DC Movie Universe to follow, and feels like barely a prelude to JL.

It calls out the choice to bring in Geoff Johns onboard to make the film more comic book like in tone, saying what works on the page doesnt translate well to the screen.

Also points out that the movie leaving MoS's realism with a mix of sci-fi for a full comic book like world makes the movie tone deaf, and that there is little narrative and character arcs, with plots and conflict being barely resolved as characters move on through its 3 hour duration.

Affleck is solid but not deserving of the praise fans have giver to his performance, as the review calls out this Batman doing and acting in ways its comic book counterpart would never do.

Eisenberg's Luthor is similarly praised for its similarity to Zuckerberg/Social Network, but the character is tainted by a cliched "genius traumatized by parents" motivation.

In the end, it says those wanting a full comic book styles fantasy will love it, but those that enjoyed MoS semi realistic/serious take on the genre will be let down, and that WB/DC competitiveness against Marvel caused them to be overhwelmed by their own creation, and the end result is a movie that buries its high expectations.

So... no bueno, then?

Sounds like it's comic book opera. Tosca ain't for everyone.

Comic book opera is a pretty darn good description, I think.

I am really interested to see the director's cut.  My hunch is that most of the footage comes from the first half, which you can REALLY tell got edited down, especially even the first act.  Lots of cuts to black to indicate time passing.  My guess is this material probably fleshes out Lois and Clark's relationship and Bruce's character.

There is also one jaw-droppingly weird choice towards the end of the title fight.  I can already tell that moment is going to be the one that everyone makes fun of from this movie.

God, what ryoken posted is the single most enthusiasm draining thing I've read. Ouch..

Cool. Thank you. This is just about what google translate translated it to. The other says the same sort of thing it seems.

I can deal with "comic book opera." That appeals much more to me than whatever the MCU's approach is.

But Snyder isn't very good at melodrama. He's always going for BIG movie moments, but it's pretty clear that he doesn't really understand how to fine-tune them to inspire big emotion.

To be fair, though, precious few cinematic storytellers genuinely understand melodrama.

Your welcome; I tried to synthetize the gist of it as best as I could.

As a native spanish speaker, the review pretty much sums up as "Mediocre and dissapointing overall, massive letdown for those that liked MOS, and fine for those who want a mindless comic book film".

But seriously, as the film that is supposed to set the tone and stage for the DC Film universe, the reviews are pretty brutal.

Oh my, this thread is going to be so delicious.

Tv Tropes has updated the movie's various pages with spoilers.

Just a warning everyone.

Still sounds wonderful

I cant wait to see the scene were Luthor loses his hair...I cant imagine how Snyder will portray it onscreen.

Super stylized and slow as molasses.

I'm shaking my head over here that the negative review hinges on "Fans of MOS will be disappointed." Ok... So what about the other 90% of folks who have spent the last 3 years ragging on MOS?

I think it means there is literally no hope for you. You'd be better off with a double-feature of White Chicks and 50 Shades of Grey.

"Ben Affleck is the best modern Batman!"

"But the movie itself is terrible, poorly made, dumb, and shockingly dull. Doomsday is trash. Lex stinks. The worst modern comic book film."

"#BatmanvSuperman is like Amazing Spider-Man meets The Phantom Menace. Mostly a bore, but Wonder Woman is great!"

My black, black heart is glowing with dark fire. Be right back, I'm getting some popcorn.

Apparently this is at best a super dull slog that's sometimes embarrassingly serious or at worst a goddamn tire fire.

I am one of the few that really, really liked Man of Steel... but I also hated Snyder's Watchmen, so... I'll wait till I can watch this thing in an empty theater on a Sunday afternoon.

It's like 11% on Rotten tomatoes with 20 reviews.

"Also it is clear that Zack HATES Superman."

Don't bother. Your 15 minutes was up 10 hours ago. We've moved on. You're old hat now.

The fallout from this is going to be absolutely fascinating to watch.  Also heartbreaking.  What a waste.  This NEEDED to be good.

It's okay. The movie committed seppuku just to bring me joy.

People like Faraci are calling it worse than FANT4STIC FOUR. Do you actually believe in that shit?

It's called Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, it didn't need anything.

Yeah. A HUGE second-week drop is guaranteed with these reviews (and, frankly, the ending).  Does WB blink on that April 11 production date on JL and fire Snyder?  Couldn't see it happening before, but now...

I think calling it worse than FF, or Green Lantern, or Thor 2 is wrong - this film was too gonzo weird for me to hate.

You mean this thing really is the franchise-killing disaster I've been hoping for?

Joy! Endless joy!

I get your point...but maybe it is? It's just as possible as it isn't at this juncture.

Wait, Thor 2 is fun.

Thor 2 is the Styrofoam communion wafer of the MCU.

I thought it was pretty bland, which for better or worse this is most certainly not.

We've got Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman on film.  I doubt it kills anything, but a radical reconsideration of the approach is needed.

Zack is almost certainly going to be fired, as he should be.

Given the hate campaign against this film from the very start, I'm just very suspicious of anyone making those claims, as if they were setting to dislike this movie no matter how well it turned out. I'll see for myself.

What does that make Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, and Age of Ultron?
