You're not entirely correct. Some of those dragons were killed with conventional weapons. One was specifically killed with arrows. They aren't indestructible.

If you're talking about the Dragon that was killed in Dorne, it wasn't arrows, it was a ballista.  To the eye.  Basically a one-in-a-million shot.

The heavy implication of the histories is that Dragons are pretty much unstoppable once they reach a certain size unless you get monumentally lucky, the rider/controller is a complete dumbass, or you have a dragon yourself.  If all it took was "lots of arrows" then Aegon's Conquest never would have happened, or at least would have been a whole lot harder.

Well let's hope Jon never rides one, then...

God I hope we at least get a dragon vs dragon battle. Don't really know how that would work, but someone mentioned a dragon dying and coming back to life under the White Walkers control....

I've assumed for years that Bran warging into Drogon would be how they eventually got neutralized.

Oh God, that would be the most metal thing ever, and I'd love it, and I don't even like metal that much.

Evil Ice Dragon (preferably killing a major character as it turns evil) being killed by Good Guy Fire Dragon is something the world needs now. Burt Bacharach even wrote a song about that.

Always weird seeing a variety of GOT actors together who in the show would be at each others' throats:

Conleth Hill with hair is the nopiest thing ever.

Liam Cunningham states that filming begins in five weeks time, in September.  So we're only looking at a two month delay in the start date, and since they have three less episodes to shoot it probably won't end that much later than normal either.  I'm betting a May/June premiere.

I'm betting June. One of the showrunners said at SDCC that they'd be filming into February of 2017.

Interesting that the shoot will last as long as it did when they were shooting ten episodes.  Must be some complicated stuff up ahead.

Or longer episodes.

If the seven episodes were longer than an hour to any significant degree, you'd be looking at a similar total runtime to the other seasons in which case, what's the point of the reduction?  Big battle sequences, on the other hand, could easily dilate the schedule to its regular length even with a lower "story volume."

Yeah, my assumption is that we're going to have more complex scenes and sequences as the story wraps up, thus necessitating more shooting and post production time.

I wouldn't count on having too many supersized episodes like we had in S6.

Who's the blonde in the picture? Asking for a friend.

That's the Waif from Arya's training in the House of Black and White. Can't recall her actual name and I can't be arsed to look it up.

Who's the seated dude with the unicorn t?

Miguel Sapochnik -- who seemed pretty confirmed during the Comic Con panel for the final 6 (?) episodes.

Thinking about it, I'd have total confidence if he completely directed the final 6 hours -- True Detective style.

Probably won't happen but Alex Graves shot 4 hours in Season 4. It's not that insane.

Thanks. Yeah, I'd be really, really happy if Sapochnik directed all or most of the final season.

That would be nuts in the best possible way.

Though I would find a Marshall/Sapochnik tag-team to be acceptable as well.

And I won't be happy until we get a Marshall-MacLaren-Sapochnik-Bender-Taylor Voltron.

Lena Headey still has some paychecks to clear i see.

An I mistaken, or are none of those actors actually in that poster??

I'm not sure if you're joking Bluelouboyle, but those are CGI characters on the poster. The actors are providing the voices.

Oh. Of course. In my defence I ate a dodgy Mr Whippy yesterday, AND caught this bug that's going around, resulting in 7 bouts of diahrea and vomiting. Feeling a bit light headed.

The guy on the right looks like Dan Stevens, which confused me even more.

The bearded guy looks a bit like Donald Sutherland. Wouldn't surprise me if they used certain actors for inspiration. I'm pretty sure Square Enix have done it before.

The NYT review for this did a hilarious job destroying it. It exemplifies everything that has gone terribly wrong with Final Fantasy as a series over the last... what, 12 years at least?

Other reviews weren't exactly too kind either. And to think that two games in that series are among the chief reasons I went to film school and got into visual storytelling in the first place.

So, Jim Broadbent has been cast in a "significant" role. That's a pretty big get.
Melisandre removes her necklace, becomes nude old woman. Removes her earrings, becomes nude Jim Broadbent.

Either that or my bet is he'll be maestering up a storm in Old Town. I can't see him being any kind of war leader. Then again, I'd have said the same of Tim McInnerny before Season 6.

I have no idea what he's going to do, but the quality of the casting (so far) and the shortened season portends a blow out in terms of budget. It's already the most expensive show on television and I imagine that HBO is going to let D&D pull out all the stops for the final two. That said, a part of me is just waiting for the announcement of a fully Sapochnik directed Season 8. Some murmurings put that on the table.

Yeah, Broadbent has to be a maester. I can totally picture him being all quirky yet expositiony in scenes with John Bradley.
That and I don't want to imagine new characters being necessary in any other areas of the story. There're already too many for my tiny brain to handle and Old Town was the one spot I thought of which is relatively unfleshed-out at this point.

Maybe Broadbent'll be the spiritual precursor of Moulin Rouge's Zidler, and will run a traveling troupe of hot redheaded courtesans.

He could be a leader of the remants of the Sparrows, but Maester sounds most likely.

A TROUPE OF HOT REDHEADED COURTESANS!

Make it happen, D&D!

If that's what it is, I'm pretty sure I can live with it.

Finally, we get the Moulin Rouge!-style kickline/can-can version of "The Bear and the Maiden Fair" the fans have all been begging to see!

Older GOT stuff but saw Pedro Pascal talking to Seth Meyers last night. He told a nice little story about how he got the role of Oberyn Martell through his friend Sarah Paulson. Maybe he has told this one 1000 times before but it was new to me.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=jCPH_S9KtHA

He is a very good actor, naturally charismatic and funny, and with his Netflix mustache looks uncannily like Burt Reynolds in his prime. Why is he not the biggest star in the world again?

It has yet to be confirmed, but Angela Motherfucking Lansbury might be joining the cast!

This is excellent news.  Mostly because I thought Angela Lansbury died in 1996.  But that may have been my actual grandmother, now that I think on it.

What's crazy is that at age 90, she would not be the oldest cast member to be involved with Game of Thrones.  That honor goes to Peter Vaughan (Maester Aemon), who was 91 when he filmed his last scenes.

If she can conjure up Shaw's mother from the original Manchurian Candidate we all win.
The fuck?? She's still alive?? I'm sure I read her obituary a while back.
