Nintendo's NES Classic Edition mini console w/ HDMI & 30 games is coming November 11th! - Page 2

Naw haha...bought it new..
I want one but its Castlevania 3 away from perfection.
Castlevania 3 is the shit. It's almost a perfect game. Just the right amount of challenge. Unlike Castlevania 2....which is so fucking hard that I wonder if it was botched somehow. I never made ANY progress with that game...and I beat THE SHIT out of Metroid and Super Metroid..
Castlevania 3 is good stuff, but the Japanese version was better - the US release fucked around with the difficulty in weird ways, and also didn't have the utterly kickass sound expansion. Reason #1 I bothered to get a Famicom.

I'm fairly certain, unless you had the Nintendo Power magazine with the clue in it, you would never figure out you need to equip that certain item and crouch on that certain ledge in order to progress further.
Yeah it was all that bullshit that turned me off of it completely at one point. I got all the first three of them for Christmas in '90 I think and 1 was great...and 3 was even better but 2? Aside from a pleasantly creepy atmosphere I just felt like I was blindly running around with no damn idea what my goals were. Got fed up with that crap pretty quick..
F-Zero 64's soundtrack is up there with MegaMan2 for sheer metal bliss.
I can still hum some of the Mega Man 2 tracks. I beat that game stupid back in the day. It was the easiest NES Mega Man BY FAR. Every other one was harder than a knot on a tree. Fucking incredibly hard..
Megaman 2 is basically the human race's justification for existing. If omnipotent aliens ever put us on trial, I'll be prepared to make the case for the defense.
I believe the correlation between it being the easiest (I agree) and having the best soundtrack was intentional on the gamemakers.

How can you concentrate of level patterns when you're shreddin' air guitar breh?

...I loved the N64 controller.

That was the only issue with Castlevania 2.  If you new that, you could beat the game in a single play session(a couple hours).  There were multiple endings based on how long it took you to beat it.  Outside of the b.s. crouching thing, it is my favorite NES Castelvania, by far.

Oh yes I still love Castlevania 2.  It contains my favourite musical track, Bloody Tears, from the entire series of games.

I loved it so much as a kid I even had the handheld Tiger version of it!  It made no sense whatsoever.

Oh shit...I'd forgotten about those Tiger handheld games. I played like two of them and was like what is THIS crap? They were low down on the totem pole technolgy-wise even for the time..

My mother thought my brothers and I loved those Tiger games, so we each got one every year for a good five years. Worst gifts ever, especially since we were too poor to have batteries on hand. Played them for a few hours, IF the game was remotely playable, and then put it aside when it died out -- never to play it again.

Those Tiger games were so laughably bad that when I had the choice, as a kid, of sitting bored in a hospital waiting room with nothing to do, or playing the LCD game that the waiting room had left out for kids to use, I chose sitting around being bored. Yargh were they ever crap.

Before I got a Game Boy, all I had was the Sonic the Hedgehog fake Tiger game. Sonic's frozen statuesque body could only teleport to the side, or leap up for a single frame of glorious jumpability.

When I think about Tiger stuff, the proliferation of dumb touchscreen smartphone games seems not so bad. Today's kids won't have to experience the horrors of LCD Double Dribble.

Or LCD Double Dragon..

Nice.  I actually put Bloody Tears on a Halloween mix I made last year.  My wife thought it was Crystal Castles(the band) or something new that just came out.

Might as well post it:

I remember REALLY liking the remix of it from the SNES Castlevania...which is another great one by the way..

Yeah, that track is pretty damn rad. Now I want an NES drum machine sample pack. This might be the first NES music I've heard where I can distinguish the "kick" and the "snare".

Anyone manage to get one of these today? I check the local WalMart at lunch and didn't see any.

These things are going for crazy amounts on eBay already, so I'm not getting my hopes up on finding one any time soon.

Nah.  Amazon sellers have them for $300+, which is idiotic.

Supposedly Amazon will have them in-stock at 5pm eastern, so I'm hoping to get one there.

That 2.5 ft. controller cord really kills it for me.

I do have a 20ft HDMI but now to invest in a 10 ft. Mini USB is kind of dumb.

hehehehe amazon isn't working

RIP Amazon

Fuck you, 2016.

Just wanted to get one for my son for the holidays.  Scalpers immediately put them all on ebay, Amazon wasn't working, and people lined up for it.

I just ... I'd say Nintendo should get their shit together, but this is intentional.  It is what they're known for, and it is irritating.

There is one on eBay right now with 71 bids. Currently $610! LOL.
like MUNKEES we are!
I only want one right now because it's so god damn exclusive!

I get the feeling!

And I know I wouldn't even use it!

So, did Amazon even sell any or did nerds refreshing the page eff everything up?  I was able to add it to my cart a couple of times, but it never showed up.   Since then, the product details page won't even open.

Same.

GIMME GIMME GIMME.

Four or five months ago I sold my Nintendo Gamecube component cable, the gamecube, and four or five games for 399.99.

The component cable was 200-250 of that value.  Just because Nintendo undeproduced the living shit out of it.  This strategy/problem is decades old for them.

Guess some were able to order:

One-click ordering never worked for me.

Pretty certain folks have automated the process (just like with ticketmaster) thereby ensuring that human fingers could never be fast enough.

There will be more of these available on Black Friday, I would imagine.

I wonder if there was a limit on Amazon or if you could order a dozen at once.

My heart demands this but my brain says no.
I have most of these on my 3DS, so I'm not very nostalgia driven to get one anytime soon.
Plus, no Castlevania 3, Contra and Tetris kinda makes me less interested on this.
Won't see my Toys R Us order until Monday, but I scored one when pre-orders went live that one brief day earlier this year. Picked up one lone extra controller at Target at lunch.

Everyone hitting F5 at work when Amazon went live audibly cussed out when Amazon logged them out, prompting frantic keyboard mashing, and then the cruel twist of being able to add the fucker to the cart but not adding it to the cart.

Nintendo should have halted Wii U production months ago and ramped up Classic Nintendo units instead.

I already own many of the games I like for this from Wii store purchases. However, if they do this for the SNES I will be all over that like a lunatic. I chose Sega instead in my youth so I missed out on so many great SNES games. Or an N64 version? Take whatever you want from me Nintendo.

LOL, the component cable value thing is ridiculous. I got a ghetto 10$ component cable for Wii (which plays all Gamecube games and has 4 GC controller ports) from Gamestop that looks fine on my HDTV. Supposedly the signal quality on the original GC component cable is slightly better...I don't really see how much better it could be. It's 480p, it ain't gonna blow your balls off no matter how you look at it.

Or you could just emulate the games in Dolphin, set it to 640x480, and youd have an even more perfect 480p signal. Drop a few bucks on a controller adapter for USB and you're all set.

Um, yeah, that video cable is the exact same one they've been using since the SNES, and you can get them for like $2 on eBay.

Umm, this is the cheapest one on ebay at the moment for "buy it now."

hooooo weee!

I got one and it's a nice.

Btw: hop 2 lavas, hop 1, hop 1, swim. Can't believe I remembered that for SMB 1. If you know what down, forward, back, back, high kick is...without google, I'd probably drink with you. If you google it, I'd probably work with you.

Ah, my mistake, I didn't realize we were talking about Y/Pb/Pr video. That's nuts.

That's standard composite, for an interlaced signal. The special one in question that was sold seperately is component, which is progressive. It doesn't work on standard tube TVs, unless it is a 'monitor' type that has progressive component inputs.

Edit: Durrrr already answered.

Anyways, I still want the new NES controller.
