KONG: SKULL ISLAND (2017) - [Pre-Release] - Page 7

"Jordan, you -- you realize that these dickheads go to the movies, too?"

"They do?"

"A-yup."

"Oh, shiiiiit!"

Yeah, that's what I figured. I was surprised he had the balls to post that with a movie release on the horizon.

Probably true.  But I have excellent taste in literature!

Wow is he Shoeless Joe Jordan? So concerned about the glass...

Also hilarious that he doesn't help the attendants but shits on the guy for doing nothing.

I'm gonna assume Skull Island is officially Kong's safe space.

I just pictured Josh Trank tweeting the whole thing.

It's not quite the same as tweeting that the studio butchered your film on the day before it opens, but yeah... not the savviest move.

He made a pretty poor decision to post that interaction online, but in his defense how was he supposed to help aside from getting out of the way?

Seems like a dumbass.

This is why I hate traveling.

He could have helped pick it up instead of tweeting how the guy beside him is a jackass who didn't help pick it up.
I kept thinking that the tweets would get picked up in real time by some alt-right hate site, and the fucker would've seen an article about him being Twitter-shamed by a Hollywood beardo pop up in his Facebook feed.

New promo vid for Hiddleston's character. It uses the clever blocking out mechanic of Godzilla's title credits.

I bet we'll see a similar main title sequence for this movie, too.

I saw the trailer for this on the big screen last night. I'm back on board.

were you originally not?

I had the same thoughts as Bradito. I saw the original teaser online and meh-ed about it all over the place. Got high for Rogue One and it played before it.

I sung a different tune.

I didn't dig some of the creature designs, but who cares what I think? I certainly don't.

I care

I care too!

I was already on board for this, but seeing the trailer on the big screen was obviously more impressive than my phone.

Maybe I just need a bigger phone.

How's a KING KONG vs GODZILLA movie going to work? I can't see it.

I'm at a point in my life where, if a Kaiju movie makes it to mainstream American theaters, I'ma see that.

The concept of Kaiju just strikes me.

My guess is that they start off as enemies but a greater threat shows up and they have to team up. I base this on that neither of them have been portrayed as villains in their movies made by Legendary.

I saw the trailer in one of those groovy Dolby auditoriums with reclining seats and scrotum-rattling sound.

Nice.

Another tv spot.  Looks really good.

Saw the trailer before Rogue One. Bringing out the weird bug monsters from the deleted/lost scenes from the original Harryhausen work actually has me interested in this.

We also saw the trailer in front of R1. Looked fantastic on the big screen.

As with Logan, going to try to avoid all further marketing efforts for this one. Just hoping it delivers what the trailer promises.

The movie's still looking great!

New IMAX poster:

That's such a great riff.

I think this movie may have the best posters lineup of any recent blockbuster.  I really like them all.

I approve of it.

"Skull Island... shit, I'm still only on Skull Island."

More importantly, it seems to imply that John C. Reily's character gets around on a boat built out of the wreckage of a B17 Flying Fortress.

Which is fucking cool as shit.

Holy shit that poster wins all the points.

Christ why can't they produce stuff like that first off instead of having to riff on a classic?

Regardless, this still looks ace.

"Shoot him off the Empire State Building. With extreme prejudice."

To say I'm looking forward to this is an understatement.

I'm very excited about it, too.  Hopefully it delivers the goods.

I'm also kind of looking forward to March in general, which is absolutely stacked with big and/or interesting releases this year.

Indeed. I'll be booking my IMAX screening as soon as they get those tickets up.  Can't wait!

The Japanese do some fine work as well.

That poster makes me feel like there's still some good in the world.

I'm sort of glad there aren't dinosaurs on this Skull Island.

What a weird thing for a guy named Carnotaur to say!
He probably hates competition.

It's a little busy, but I love that it puts all the creatures front and center.  I'd expect nothing less from the Japanese.

I still think there's a good 30% chance some dinosaurs have been shielded from the marketing and may appear at some point in the film.  There are certainly going to be dinosaur bones in the movie.

The closing scene:

JOHN C. REILLY: "Oh, those bones? That's Kong's ancient ancestral enemy. I call it a Zillasaurus. That sounded a lot better in my head."

Maybe I was just burnt out on the last King Kong having really terrible dinosaur effects.

I think I just like how they are making up new creatures and stuff rather than trying to dig up inside the prehistoric well.
