Damn, I used to love that game.  Many a 50p piece got chucked in the one that was in the Student Union.

Thanks for the mention of Call of Juarez Gunslinger. Definitely gonna check that out.

For the meantime, I can practice my McCree in Overwatch :)

One from way back that I hugely enjoyed was Desperados.

Basically Commandos with a Western skin. Hella fun.

Much rep for the TIMERIDER riff.

Txs, I almost went a Freejack riff, but remembered Timerider fits the thread better.*

*Even if Freejack as evil Mick Jagger.

That said, if anyone here hasn't played Call of Juarez: Gunslinger HOP ON IT. It's the tequila shot to RDR's cold beer.

It's one of my favorite shooters of the last several years. It's just a blast.

Time Rider and Looker back-to-back were my mid-80s HBO jackpot.

Oh man, top that off with Runaway and that's a full night.

Man, I forgot Looker was a Michael Crichton joint.
Also, even when I like the flawed 13th Warrior, on a better world Eaters of the Dead would had been adapted as an R Rated epic in the 80s
post #63 of 134
Looking over this thread, I realize I may have played every video game about the West outside of Custer's Revenge.

Aside from RDR, I gotta go with Outlaws.

See, I'm not so sure about this. If Dutch was the leader of the gang wouldn't he be standing in the middle of the group (presuming he is the guy to the left from the middle who kiiiind of looks like Dutch)? And none of these guys look like Javier Escuella either. Honestly, I think it might just be a coincidence that they look similar with this art style and I'm still leaning towards this being a whole new gang of crazy characters. Which IS what Rockstar have done with pretty much all their franchises in the past.

Oh, and thanks to this thread I picked up Call of Juarez: Gunslinger on Steam. Will be checking it out tonight.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger was a free game on PS Plus a few months ago.  I forgot to download it :/.

Looks pretty, but I'm disappointed there's not more info.

Oh hell yes. It's a year away yet so I'm not too disappointed. That looks gorgeous.

Very HELL ON WHEELS.  I dig it.

It's nice to know ahead of time exactly how I'm going to be spending the entirety of 2018.

Good Lord, those graphics are breathtaking. Red Dead Redemption is my favorite game of all time and was a huge inspiration on a Western screenplay I wrote. Any time I wanted to get into that frontier mindset for my writing, I'd just throw on the RDR multiplayer. I CAN NOT wait to delve into the world again.

I do wish they had kept the tradition of using a new R-word instead of "2", though. River, Reckoning, Renegade, etc. There's a lot of solid R-words! Minor quibble, of course.

Red Dead Renegade! That was it. Ah well.

Anyone think this will actually come out in 2017?

This looks amazing.  wow.  Annoys me to know they are releasing a new PS4 with better graphic capabilities...I'm guessing it won't look this good on the original PS4.

Surprised so many people say it is their favorite game of all time.  I would have to agree with that as well.  This looks like it hasn't lost that magic.

Is this for real? Because that's *ahem* horse shit.

Unfortunately, yes.  Comes out 11/10.

http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/ps4-pro-vs-ps4

"All new and recent PS4 games are required to support a 'Pro' mode, which means either improved resolution and/or increased texture and effects quality. Crucially, games that support an increased '4K' mode have to run as smoothly as they do on the standard PS4 console. Even if you don't have a 4K TV, games will look better on the PS4 Pro, though to what degree is down to the developer."

There is a new Xbox next year, too (the new PS4 comes out in a couple of weeks). It sounds like the Xbox upgrade will be a much more substantial upgrade than the PS4 Pro, but theh are both getting more powerful.

I bought my PS4 about a year ago.  I have a Best Buy warranty that will replace for free if it dies(I got a couple PS2's and PS3's with it in the past).  Thinking of giving mine a quick dunk in the tub after PS4 Pro drops.

I'm debating just getting a standard PS4 after the inevitable price drop. I'm not enough of a gamer to care too much about the graphics difference (hell, I'm still playing games on my PS3).

ha. All the games I have played on PS4 (The Last of Us, Assassin's Creed, GTAV) were all originally made for PS3.  I haven't even played a true PS4 game yet.

Either way, definitely buying RDR 2, no matter what.

Pretty sure you would just get a replacement PS4, not cash.

.

Every Rockstar trailer makes the game look better than it actually ends up looking. They know how to make trailers.
That was a delightful video card demo with zero gameplay. After Fallout 4, I'm not falling for that shit again. Show me the real game, Rockstar, or you're not advertising the game.

I've completed two playthroughs of RDR (and besides the Bounties had %100 completion on all the side quests; the genocide I brought down on the wildlife and plant life will never be forgotten), but each time I crossed into Mexico either I had the map up or the game glitched and I have never heard that song in game. I didn't even know about it until months later when a buddy of mine said that was his favorite part.

I'm currently playing through again at a leisurely pace because of XBONE backwards compatibility so hopefully I'll be able to experience it this time.

Reminds me of the time I saw Primal Fear in the theater and a storm moved in and the theater lost power right after Edward Norton's courtroom outburst and Laura Linney had a drink with Gere in the judge's chambers. For years I had no idea there was another twist at the very end.

I'm gonna play the shit out of this sequel though. With this and a new Mass Effect I'll have no spare time.

Edited for stupid typing.

That is exactly what I would get, unless they stop selling the original PS4, then I would get the newest version, I would hope.

Don't try and ruin my dreams!

Not surprised but DAMMIT.

Hopefully they are using the extra time to make it VR capable.

Well, shit.

That screenshot of the train instantly became my new wallpaper. Stunning.

And if the delay ultimately means a better game, then so be it.

New trailer rolling on into town soon:

Trouble getting the embed to show up.  If its missing, go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXZKLfLZkv8

I really wanted a reveal of more gameplay related trailer.  Aside from the bow and arrow I don't get a good sense of what's new.

Assuming not-Josh Brolin is the main character, he seems a little bland.

He does seem like a basic ass guy. We'll see.

I want this more than I want Star Wars.

Looks like more Red Dead Redemption...and dear God, that will NEVER be a bad thing.

As long as I get to walk into a Saloon, lose a shit load of money on Poker, get piss drunk and stumble outside to shoot a man that's trying to stab a prostitute.

Now I'm itchin' to play RDR all over again.

Hopefully.

Not exactly cutting-edge graphics in this trailer, and I didn't get a sense of what the over-arching story will be, but yeah, it looks like more RDR.
