Also that. I mean, for God's sake, you can pretty much take your pick at this point.

Really the only thing stopping impeachment from happening right fucking now is A. the House is full of shitbiscuits who are either active proponents of Trumpism or angling to profit by it, so it can't even get rolling, and B. Trump has thus far focused the majority of his ire on the Senate, which can't do anything until the House votes to impeach.

Reading an article on his speech, it sounds like less a speech and a rally than a greatest hits album.

Also, if we're playing the "Stupid Watergate" card, firing Comey had echoes of the Saturday Night Massacre. There's still time for this to play out.

Let his fall happen gradually, not suddenly.

De-railing, sorry:

had a dream last night where I watched 2019 Best Picture -nominated President Trump biopic called "MIRACLES". It was pretty good. The end credits showed mug shots of DJT, Ivanka, Kushner, Bannon, etc. And there was an end credits song.

Yup. That song.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

That is one amazing dream.

A few things about Trump's speech...

1. He mentioned Kenya.  I think we all know why.

2. It's not being talked about a lot yet, but he did mention getting out of NAFTA.  Texas Republicans must be freaking out by the idea of having to defend that; they were likely expecting the establishment to whip him into shape on that topic by now (like it did on Afghanistan).

Of course he would; this is the Inauguration crowd size thing all over again. Trump is never tired of making stuff up.

Was anyone younger than 60 at that rally?

He probably lies about things that don't even matter, just to practice.

I wanna shave all his hair off and stuff it into his mouth then gag him with a pair of Bannon's tighty-whiteys, right out of the hamper and then tie him up inside Harry Knowles septic tank and leave him there..

The strange story of that ‘Blacks for Trump’ guy standing behind POTUS at his Phoenix rally

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2017/08/23/the-strange-story-of-that-blacks-for-trump-guy-standing-behind-potus-at-his-phoenix-rally/?utm_term=.15d99dc52280

Quote:
Before he started calling himself Michael the Black Man, the man identified as Maurice Woodside. Around 1980, he joined a cult led by Hulon Mitchell Jr., who went by Yahweh Ben Yahweh and eventually turned violent, reported the New Times. The two men met when Woodside was 21 years old.

Woodside followed Yahweh’s fiery teachings for years, even after the leader allegedly denied his dying, cancer-stricken mother medical treatment and instead prescribed her “vegetables, nuts, and herbs,” prosecutors once said in court, according to the New Times.

In the early 1990s, the New Times reported, Woodside, Yahweh and 14 other members of the cult were arrested by federal agents and charged with racketeering and conspiracy in 14 murders and a firebombing, reported the New Times.

Ricardo Woodside, Maurice’s brother, had once been in the cult but left after his mother’s death. Woodside testified in court that his brother had helped beat a man named Aston Green, who argued with Yahweh and was taken to the Florida Everglades and beheaded with a dull machete, reported the New Times.

He also testified that Maurice Woodside was the cult member who stabbed a Louisiana man named Leonard Dupree in the eye with a sharpened stick.

Yahweh was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Maurice Woodside, who denies the cult was violent or murderous, was acquitted along with six others.

DJT has become one of those washed up singers in a 'rock band' that has to play local state fairs because that's the only gig he can get where he can have his ego appeased.

Hell, he's taken to wearing a hair 'bandana' in a pathetic attempt to hide the fact that he's going/gone bald.

His fans are initially excited to hear that one tune he likes to try to sing (it's the only one he actually learned to play), but when it's the only song he sings, his fans quickly get bored....and his 'concerts' are that same song over and over.

As Trump ranted and rambled in Phoenix, his crowd slowly thinned

Quote:

But as the night dragged on, many in the crowd lost interest in what the president was saying.

Hundreds left early, while others plopped down on the ground, scrolled through their social media feeds or started up a conversation with their neighbors. After waiting for hours in 107-degree heat to get into the rally hall — where their water bottles were confiscated by security — people were tired and dehydrated and the president just wasn't keeping their attention. Although Trump has long been the master of reading the mood of a room and quickly adjusting his message to satisfy as many of his fans as possible, his rage seemed to cloud his senses.

I went on a monster roadtrip through the South. Visited Little Rock, Memphis, saw the solar eclipse in Nashville, Birmingham (lovely city), Jackson (jesus fucking christ Mississippi), Monroe, Shreveport.

Even saw that retarded ass statue of Nathan Forrest Bedford. Lol.

Didn't think about Trump once. It was awesome.

EDIT: wait, no. I subjected my wife to DUNE on audiobook. When Baron Harkonnen first showed up, I leaned over and said "this guy reminds me of Trump."

Where do you live Zhukov? Don't you live close to my neck of the woods? I divide my time between Mount Pleasant and Houston. But I've been staying solely in Mount Pleasant since I got injured. PM me if you don't wanna share that publicly. Lol or lemme know if you don't wanna say at all. I'm not trying to be too nosy..

I love a guy whose father's family got here in 1885 and whose mother got here in 1929 talking about the Confederate South as "our culture."  I guess my parents living in New Jersey makes me Dutch.

I moved here from New Orleans in December, mostly unwillingly.  My husband is lucky I love him so much or I'd have left him rather than letting him drag me here.

From what I can piece together, it's your typical inner city vs suburb issues but without any remotely redeeming qualities to make up for it.  Horrible economics, political corruption, lots of crime, racial tension like crazy.  There's really nice suburb areas just north of the city (Madison and Ridgeland) where basically all the people with money fled so the city's tax based collapsed and those left behind were stranded with no assistance.  And you can guess the dominant skin color of each of those groups.  Basically a mini-model of Trump's America.

It's like Detroit without the 'glorious past' of the auto industry or New Orleans with all the wonderful culture stripped away.  Thank God we have an exit strategy.

It's not entirely an editorial as it actually documents all the batshit insane mouth sounds that DJT uttered.

You can't even say "well, they are taken out of context" because even 'in context' they would make no sense.

Oh ok cool. I remembered you saying once that you were familiar with Mt Pleasant so I figured you were close by. I got a buddy who lives in Dallas that I'm gonna visit soon. But this ain't the thread for this so I'll shut this convo down now....I'm sure nobody else wants to read this lol. But thanks for letting me know. Whenever I'm in DFW area soon, might shoot you a PM!

Comments on that Arpaio thread say that the pardon requires an admission of guilt and doesn't protect him from civil suits, so he's not off scot-free. That's the upside there.

And I stand by my Diceman comparison. Seeing that empty convention hall feels like a fad at the end of its rope.

And sanity.

Oh, he's speaking in Nevada tonight. One day, that Brent Spiner in Independence Day looking guy is going down for all the Quaaludes be procured for Trumpy.

Not that anyone in Congress gives a shit, but apparently Ben Carson appearing at the rally last night was in violation of the Hatch Act.

Add it to the list I guess.

Meghan McCain isn't very happy with how her party suddenly wants her dad to die slowly and painfully,

https://twitter.com/MeghanMcCain/status/900192628544684032

But I can't help gloating. You can't tell me she didn't know what her party is like. They've fed these people tainted mad cow disease meat FOR DECADES through Fox news (Where she works!) and trashy talk radio, and it's finally caught up with their brains. Meghan had no issue with these lowlifes when they went after the gay community, women, Democrats... But, now that they've twisted their ugly heads and have decided to tear her dad, and other Republicans apart as well, suddenly, she's "Woah! Why so mean??" FUCK'EM.

Meghan McCain's been pretty vocal about the moral rot within her party for a while now, so I don't know where the "no issue" thing comes from.

Yeah well she still cashes paychecks signed by Fox News. I wonder if she actually voted for the Republican candidate, or if her shilling for the craven GOP agenda is completely cynical.

Yeah, and I was going to say something about how telling people to fuck off and they should have known better the exact moment they start to see reason is probably not best practice.  But I'll admit, when I saw her Twitter bio listed her as "Blonde Republican - (flag emoji)", I involuntarily spurted "OH FUCK OFF!"
