His address is knocking around the web too. Looks sort of like the house where we first met Doug Jones, or Jesse Pinkman. Must be odd living somewhere there is so little green. I'd feel in constant existential dread living in a in a beige house with a concrete moat, in a remote housing estate, off a highway, in a desert. Need to be a stronger person than me to make that work.

I don't know what disgusts me more, DJT's empathy-less "warmest condolences" comment or the medias coverage 'orgasm'.
All the tv news channels are showing footage in a fucking loop this morning.

The FUCK are 'warmest condolences', anyway?

Because he can't fucking write.

What's even worse than both of those is the fact that this story here even exists.

I’m sick to my stomach over this.

Not North Korea. Not ISIS. Some old fuck who probably voted for Trump.

Don’t give this man any attention. Give it to the victims. And don’t give fucking prayers. Do something.

This is morbid but I am seething and heartbroken by this, but I hope he did this in Trump’s name. This administration and
Congress are so antipathetic that I hold them accountable.

I want The Fat Golfer to read every victim’s name on live television, without any of his coked our improv, even if it means John Kelly threatening to kill him beforehand. I want him to know evil exists here, and not just other countries.

God help us all.

He tweeted sympathies. “God bless you!”

Not enough. God is not going to help this one out.

To most of these assholes, God is condoning this.

Aronofsky was too kind to the man in the sky.

Well, it's worth remembering that there's probably a bunch of Trump voters right now who are hoping that this was a Democrat ("can you have white Antifa?" they wonder) bent on murdering a bunch of God-fearing country music fans.

Sadly, that's probably the best possible outcome here.
All that, and a swastika tattoo.

I’m skeptical that this was some Bernie Bro loon. This was some blackhearted piece of shit.

This is a horrible day, but fantasy-casting the shooter's political allegiance actually makes "warmest condolences" seem like a healthy and productive manner of dealing with it.

Well Trumpers spent all night on 4chan working out ways to blame the Jewish community. So I'd say working out where this all came from and bracing yourselves for these assholes is the most "productive" way of going about it.

When it comes to these mass shootings, I have no more heart to break. I'm furious as hell.

I don't know if "the other side is doing it" is particularly effective, either.

Huh.  Trump just condemned the shooting in Vegas as 'an act of pure evil'.

See, Donald?  That wasn't too hard?  Not sure why you couldn't do that in Charlottesville.  Oh, I remember why now...

Great, now his approval numbers will go up.

It’s “an act of evil” because he still has real estate in Vegas.

And I’m not trying to be irrational because I feel that way. This is awful and unthinkable in so many ways.

He may have said the words but he is incapable of comprehending them.

Also, the 'bible' shit is just him pandering to the fundie Pence base. His knowledge of religion more than likely comes from watching The Ten Commandments...and he was rooting for the Egyptians.

If the killer turns out to be a Republican Trump will probably change his tune.

It's an act of evil...but not terrorism?

Listening to him read off the teleprompter is liking listening to a developmentally challenged child read a picture book.

I would trust my Downs daughter as President over this buffoon...if there's one thing she has in spades, it's empathy.

There's a difference between processing actual information as it comes in and wishlisting attributes onto the shooter, so as to make him the "perfect" villain whose horrific act of mass murder also has the silver lining of reinforcing rather than challenging all your own existing political beliefs and biases.

Not that I don't understand the impulse. I'm sure I've done exactly that before, and I definitely felt that the minor swell of relief upon finding out it was a white guy lone wolf.  Not that the loss of life is less horrific, but at least when the shooter is white I know people won't be talking seriously about suspending habeas corpus and de facto martial law.

This is absolutely true, but shameful as it is to admit, when I got in my car to go to work this morning and this story was on, I initially only got about half of it, and I won't lie and say that the first thought in my head wasn't "Oh God please don't let this be a Muslim, particularly from one of the travel ban countries."  There is no real "best case scenario" when you're dealing with this level of body count but I've been so twisted around with this administration that I'm always worrying that the worst case scenario is right around the corner.

Well...not to get pedantic but until we know the motives, it really might not be terrorism.  Terrorism is seeking to achieve some kind of sociopolitical goal through the terror it inspires.   An act may be completely terrifying but if the guy or girl commits it because they're psychotic it's not really terrorism.

Now of course there is the double-standard of how quick this would be labelled terrorism even in the same lack of information if the guy was brown-skinned and had a "Muslim-sounding" name.

Until there is more of an investigation done they can't leap to the conclusion that's it's terrorism related. There have been a lot of mass shootings that weren't linked to terrorism.

The authorities are reporting they have no idea why this guy did what he did.

There was just a terrorist attack in Edmonton and it was very quickly made apparent it was a terrorist attack because an Islamic State flag was found in the vehicle used and the person arrested had been investigated in the past for radical beliefs.

Yes, you are absolutely correct on more investigation being needed, but you could be assured that if the circumstances of this incident were exactly the same, but for the perpetrator being brown-skinned and/or having a "muslim-sounding" name, the police would be saying "Until we can prove otherwise we are treating this as an act of terror(ism)."

Somehow Dylann Roof doesn't get brought up on terrorism charges, despite having a very specific, very political goal.

'Terrorism', at least in the United States, means one thing: muslims.

Its an absolutely insane distinction to even attempt, since the whole point of terrorism is to spread fear. You know how you make people fearful? Call it terrorism. Mission accomplished.

You have to remember the Police don't release all of the information they have available. They'll release the information that won't compromise the investigation.

A lot of what is reported by the media is conjecture from friends of witnesses and social media postings.

Oh right, our police and other law-enforcement officials in the US never jump the gun or apply double-standards.  How silly of me to have forgotten that.

That's rather cunning on their part, really (unless it's actually true, in which case boy howdy are some folks' heads gonna asplode).  But then again leveraging social media and spouting out propaganda has always been a strong point for ISIS.

But I'm pretty sure ISIS has tried to claim a few different attacks that were later proven to have no connection before.

Agreed - and if I didn't know better I'd swear Republicans were paying the fuckers to say stuff like that.

Old white republican shoots up a few hundred people = awkwaaaarrrd

Old white man converts to Islam and THEN shoots up a few hundred people = RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORISM WE FUCKING TOLD YOU LIBTARDS THIS WAS WAR!!!!!

Nah, I don't think Republicans need to pay them.  They're savvy enough with their communications to know it'll muddy the waters, and if Trump takes the bait he'll make some ham-fisted comments or worse yet attempt an actual crackdown on Muslims in the US, which (in ISIS mind...likely with some validity) will just send people flocking to radical groups in droves.

Falsely claiming responsibility after murder-suicides is pretty much an ISIS trademark. There's a little bit of humor in the fact that they rushed their boilerplate message out there before the shooter was confirmed to be a cracker in his 60's.

Yeah, in hindsight the fact they couldn't be assed to even provide the guy's name should've probably been a giveaway.

Yeah, ISIS claiming credit for this kind of shit is so predictable you might well assume they just have a troll-bot set up to watch the news feeds for certain keywords and auto-post a response.
