Some speculation on whether Flynn has flipped, corroborating Judas's comments earlier this week.

"I am to, how you say, flog the bishop now."

"Do you mind if I--"

"As you will. But I must be allowed to finish first."

"Of course, your grace."

I think that's exactly how it went down.

McCain ain’t perfect, but this is pretty hardcore of him to say.

It’s all talk, but then again, look who’s President.

I'll say this for the man: the depths of ignorance, whininess, and general cack-handedness he can plumb still surprise me, as does the heights of transparent treason one can hit once a large enough section of the public is behind you.

So much to unpack...

"having a good relationship with Russia"... says the guy who has never had a good relationship with anyone in his entire life. Of course he thinks being someone's bitch is a good relationship.

"There always playing politics"... oof.

"I want to solve North Korea... terrorism"... yeah, because THEY'RE puzzles... and because if they were puzzles, the guy we'd want solving them is the one who needs help solving stairs.

I'd love for someone to ask him what the difference is between Iran and Russia. I mean, we KNOW what the difference is, but even so, we have two countries that are both dictatorial, both with interests that harm the United States, but only one of them has entered into an agreement to curb its bad behavior. According to even Trump's own people, Iran has honored that agreement. And on the other side we have Putin who has of course demonstrated limited good faith. So why isn't having a "good relationship" with Iran a "good thing", Mr. President?

The only question is how long before, "dark people"  would sneak into his word salad.

Here's a tweet that probably infuriated his lawyers. This one will definitely be used as evidence.

'I try so hard to be his friend'

Although, to be honest, he's right to say 'having a good relationship with Russia is a good thing'. Just maybe not the way you're going about it.

Are the different time zones making him extra fucking cranky? This is some demented shit, even by his standards.

Also, way to go with the new 280 character limit Twitter. Brav-fucking-o.

The puzzle he’s trying to solve is the Lament Configuration.
Were Twitter users really crying out for an extension of the character limit?

No.  Fewer Nazis and a crackdown on harassment were on the wish list.

Although all the lamentations about it have been fun.

Yes. Trump gets cranky when he can’t sleep in his own bed. He HATES the long overseas trips, and there’s usually some debate as to whether he’ll come home early or not.

Put more simply: He hasn’t been able to bilk the Secret Service for more money for one of his resorts this week.

My first guess would be that he's in a mood because Putin called Trump on the carpet for failing to deliver on some promise or other.

In an unusual intervention, the AFSA's Barbara Stephenson blasts the Trump administration's decimation of the diplomatic corps. This doctrine of retreat, so aptly named by opponents of State and USAID funding cuts in the Senate, is reckless, short-sighted, and detrimental to the U.S.'s global leadership. As an aspiring Foreign Service Officer, it is devastating to watch the effects of the hiring freeze as some of our best and brightest decide to pursue other paths.

As current Defense Secretary James Mattis once said about the effects of undervaluing diplomacy, "If you don’t fund the State Department fully, then I need to buy more ammunition ultimately." Congress might have rejected this administration's maddening proposed cuts to State, but that hasn't stopped them from sabotaging recruitment and retention. More:

Quote:
"Our leadership ranks are being depleted at a dizzying speed, due in part to the decision to slash promotion numbers by more than half. The Foreign Service officer corps at State has lost 60 percent of its Career Ambassadors since January [the equivalent of a four-star general]. Ranks of Career Ministers, our three-star equivalents, are down from 33 to 19. The ranks of our two-star Minister Counselors have fallen from 431 right after Labor Day to 369 today—and are still falling.

….Not surprisingly, given the blocked entry path, interest in joining the Foreign Service is plummeting. I wrote with pride in my March 2016 column that “more than 17,000 people applied to take the Foreign Service Officer Test last year,” citing interest in joining the Foreign Service as a key indicator of the health of the institution. What does it tell us, then, that we are on track to have fewer than half as many people take the Foreign Service Officer Test this year?"

Madness. Sheer madness. Our influence depends on our ability to project soft power, and the Trump administration is doing everything in its power to erode that.

I'm with J.K. Rowling and other critics of the character extension on this one: the previous limit forced some creativity.

Now Twitter feels even more like a strange micro-blogging-but-not-really-blogging platform.

Robert Anderson, who was Mueller's assistant director of counterintelligence at the FBI from 2011 to 2013, writes for Time magazine:

(Summarizing and paraphrasing)

Expect FARa charges, expect wire fraud charges, expect mail fraud charges. This is how Mueller snags people who have been exploited by foreign intelligence agencies. The criminal penalties can be as much as 20 years in federal prison per charge. Expect a foot race to Mueller's office to offer testimony in exchange for immunity or leniency. These fuckers know that they're too soft to endure time in federal prison. Expect that Mueller has already flipped a plurality of people of in Trump's inner circle and that they're already wearing wires. This is how the man works.

Late breaking news on Alabama Senate race candidate Roy Moore tonight:

A former prosecutor, who worked with Moore in the 80's during his brief tenure as a prosecutor for Etowah County, has told CNN that it was common knowledge at the time that Moore hung out at high school football games and shopping malls and picked up teenage girls.

CNN reached out to the person after she posted on a local newspaper that she has no doubt about Moore's accuser's story. The prosecutor posted under her real name, showing no fear of being sued, and has publicly challenged the rest of her and Moore's former coworkers to come forward.

Come on Alabama, you're not going to send a pedophile to the Senate are you? If you don't want to vote for the Democrat that's fine, but do not cast a vote that says this slime ball should represent you.

I'm really surprised that 45 hasn't tweeted boasting that Strange was the better choice.
Moore was born in 1947, and if I'm right about when Roy and the woman CNN interviewed worked together, he would have been in his late 30's, pushing 40.

That would mean publicly allying with a loser. In Trump's pathological mind, it would project weakness.

I expect this to end with Sean Hannity defending Moore's newly discovered pedophile pizzeria live on Fox.

Surprised Moore is making it through the weekend.  Trump might be sitting on this as a distraction for when the next indictments drop.  "He was a good man and the fake news and haters and losers dragged him through hell.  SAD!!! Roy Moore has done the right thing to step aside and Republicans will UNITE for write-in candidate Dr. Mindbender!" (I'm doing 280 character fake tweets now)

Dr. Mindbender?  This is an episode of 'Get Smart' or 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.' or something now?  The Dems need to field a Dr. Sinister now.

Jack Posobiec doxed one of Moore's accusers, if Twitter would like to get on that.

While totally believable, Trump did not tweet about the endorsement of a second-rate G.I. Joe villain for Senator of Alabama. It did fool me though.
