Patrick Meehan is the second House rep to resign from the Ethics Committee, but Trey Gowdy didn’t use taxpayer money for a sexual harassment settlement:

The White House Comments Line has a pre-recorded message blaming the Democrats for the shutdown.

The sheer level of bullshit in this fucking white house is so fucking infuriating.

Trump’s approval rating is climbing according to a CNN poll. Looks like the tax bill may indeed stave off the blue wave if the economy holds to November and companies keep sprinkling crumbs for the peasants.

I also think this shutdown is very easy for Republicans to sell as on Democrats' heads, while the reverse is a tough sell unless you're already on board with the issues and following at more than arms length.

Leave it to Democrats to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

How does Patrick Meehan keep his job when Franken got drummed out for provably less? Far less.

I'm thinking he should just run again. He would win. He took the hit.

Fuck this country. The people who voted for this scum deserve the shitty policies inflicted on them. It just sucks that they are going to take us down with them. Not even the upcoming war with NK or Iran is going to jog them from their stupidity

Speaking of which, I'm deeply disappointed that we're nearly 24 hours into this and I haven't seen or heard anything about Kim Jong-un commenting on the dotard's ability to govern.

Fuck these 'polls'. The 'polls' said that HC was going to win hands down.
Especially, fuck these media polls. This CNN poll only has a sample size of 1005 which is complete bullshit in a country this size.

“I spent my entire adult life looking out for the wellbeing, the training, the equipping of the troops for whom I was responsible,” Duckworth said. “Sadly, this is something the current occupant of the Oval Office does not seem to care to do.”

“I will not be lectured about what our military needs by a five deferment draft dodger,” she said, referring to Trump’s five deferments from the draft during the Vietnam War.

“And I have a message for Cadet Bone Spurs: If you cared about our military, you’d stop baiting Kim Jong-un into a war that could put 85,000 American troops and millions of innocent civilians in danger.”

(and men) today were marching to tell him.

He's definitely being an asshole.

It can be two things!

His tweet is clueless even if he's being butthurt about protests against him. It's basically saying, "Stop bitching about getting raped; at least you have a job!"

And he's -always- an asshole.

As far as public opinion goes, my feeling is that this shutdown will be much like the last one in that it won't move any votes one way or the other. Now until November is an eternity in political time, especially these days, and anyone who buys into the "illegals over vets" nonsense ain't exactly voting Democratic anyway.

I wonder if the calculus is to see if it galvanises people who would vote Democratic but haven't for whatever reason been incentivised enough to get out and vote.

Also, if it's not likely to shift votes all that much, well all the more reason not to give the other side anything you don't want them to have, then.

I voted for Trump and if the 2020 election were tomorrow, I'd vote for him again to, if for anything to see more Millennial meltdowns like we saw at a lot of these Universities that had to bring in dogs for dog therapy and nap sessions for the self proclaimed snowflakes...

What is it with you and dog therapy and naps? Who doesn’t like dogs? And what adult or teenager doesn’t enjoy a good nap?

Well, they're not wrong.. It is the Democrats fault, specifically this falls squarely on Chuck Schumer's head for allowing this whether anyone wants to admit it or not...

The fact that the student body couldn't handle Trump becoming President and required the coddling in which they did speaks volumes about today's generation of kids who are too thin skinned and can't handle when they don't get their way and the results of this election spoke exactly that with how a lot of these students reacted toward this...

Considering you elected a pedophile backing, barely literate rapist with a terrible track record in running businesses into the ground (with help from Russia) I'm not surprised that some people were upset.

But hey, mock the people who actually have empathy and care about others all you like, since the monster you put into power is fucking you over every single day he remains in office. That's all you have left.

I dig that picture circulating on Twitter of Trump in the Oval Office listening to the dial tone on his desk phone, pretending to be at work. He's wearing one of his shitty hats (indoors, which I believe is a faux pas), so it's obvious that he was too lazy to even bother with his combover this morning.

Hard at work!

He must be throwing the whiniest, most pathetically sniveling tantrum that he didn't get to go to Mar-A-Lago for his big anniversary party.

I picture him sitting alone in the dark with a single cupcake with a candle in it.

"Ivanka, come in and dance for Daddy."

"It's not your birthday, Dad."

The Austin gathering yesterday for the Women's March was, apparently, the largest in Texas history:

And Chicago surpassed last year's gathering:

Trump wants the GOP to invoke some sort of "nuclear" option to allow for a 51% vote and end the shutdown.

Translation: "You're making me miss my partyyyyyyyy!"

Tom Brady won't fix his hand until the Dems give in.

Going to say this again: I just want these people to get out and fucking VOTE this year. And EVERY year.

I love the huge displays of solidarity and protest. I just want them to do the next thing after voting and vote the goddamn Republicans out of office.

It's been talked about before, but this poll reiterates that young Republicans do not like Trump all that much:

A lot of smaller cities and rural areas were able to sustain their crowds from the previous year, which bodes well.

Annoyingly, despite the sustainability of the movement, I don't see this year's protests getting the same sort of coverage that they got last year.

PRyan is on Face the Nation this morning...

He has to be one of the most disingenuous people alive.
John Dickerson did challenge him on his shit a bit but not to the degree it needed to be done.
That said, having these politician talking heads on these shows 'solo' to just spout their talking points is frustrating. Of course, if they were to have an 'opponent' to challenge them (which the host almost never does) they wouldn't go on the shows.

Not for nothing, but a photo of one of the marches is the main photo on the NY Times print edition above the fold.

Could you be any more overly dramatic you fucking snowflake??? The monster you put into power????How exactly is he fucking me over??? And what business do you run that qualifies you to think you're some kind of expert other than some NJPW Loving nerd who hangs out on a movie website acting like a keyboard warrior in thinking he knows politics??? This is you after Trump won the Presidency:

Oh, and here's Mr. Trump's list of accomplishments thus far for Year 1 as President.. Not bad for someone labeled a "Monster", Granted it's obviously predictable that Liberals such as yourself will claim Obama is the one to do with the success of the Economy thus far, but hate Trump or not, you have to give Trump credit for the Economy and give credit where credit is due, that's provided Millennials are actually able to do such a thing when dealing with this Man without curling up in fetal position and crying themselves to sleep at night over this...
