Transformers. The Last Knight (Michael Bay, 2017) May God have mercy on us all... - Page 3

Inspector Gadget may be worse than Transformers 2.

I can think of three number 2s that are pure number 2.

Who is it that I'm supposed to sound like Nooj? Jimmy Stewart or Fred Gwynne..

I did my part by introducing her kids to MST3K and Raiders of the Lost Ark and taking them out to see Guardians of the Galaxy.

I always thoug that Adam Sandler would've made a good Inspector Gadget. He probably could've done the voice too.

Matthew Broderick what the hell...
Nope.
Geoffrey Rush in a Joe Dante Inspector Gadget. Or better yet...probably best to just not make an Inspector Gadget movie at all.

Adam Sandler only makes me think of Don Flamenco from Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

I just realized I've only ever seen like three Adam Sandler movies. And not a new one in decades..

Anyway, the new Transformers movie looks like the transformiest yet!
I wonder what Anthony Hopkins transforms into.

I shudder to even think how Bay will out creep himself this time, because the Romeo and Juliet Law scene in the last of these was fucking creepy as all fuck out.

Holy crap. That Michael Bay featurette plays like an SNL sketch! You can just imagine Ben Stiller in a blonde wig leaning against a camera and proclaiming "I'm Michael Bay and I protect the cinematic experience."

Also: At 00:08, I thought he said "I love cutting hair" and chuckled.

The really annoying thing about the trailer is that I see a scene with fucking King Arthur and a group of robot knights, and I think to myself "Why can't I watch THAT movie instead?" It's like the screenwriters couldn't decide on whether to do that movie or one where Mark "Marky Mark" Wahlberg runs around with Girl Power shooting guns and screaming in slow motion, so they decided to do both.

Also, it doesn't account for the ambiguity of Texas Penal Code 43.25 (b) so on top of everything else, it's potentially misleading advice and My God, how on Earth do I know this?

I always knew there was something about you!

How have we gotten to 5 of these and no Unicron?   I mean it's a Transformer that's a planet.   You'd think that would be Bay's jam.

They already KINDA did that by transporting Cybertron to Earth and having it cause a bunch of destruction...

but yeah, I'd love to see Unicron... voiced by Maurice LaMarche!

"AUTOBOTS! Transform and Murder planet Earth!"

Rock on Nemesis Prime, rock on.

I can't wait for the eventual crossover once Disney buys the brand.

Like James Cameron said, the glut of lazy post converted movies that flooded the cinema is what turned a lot of peole off. It doesn't help whenever a theatre doesn't bother to crank up the brightness to compensate for the dim lenses.

The scant few films shot natively in 3D are generally quite awesome, at least visually. Tran5formers will be the first film shot entirely with dual Imax 3D
cameras. Gonna be awesome. All that scrap metal carnage flyng at my face, whooo boy. I'm gonna see it at least 3 times, and buy a 4K3Dtv, and a 4K3D bluray player, and the HDR 3D bluray and watch it countless more times.

Seriously. For serious.
I'll probably see it in 2D.

That's good.  It was so weird how arbitrarily the 4th movie switched back and forth between the dual digital IMAX 3D footage and 35mm.

I didn't notice.

oh, what was the 2D showings like???

Just a regular movie.

Michael Bay is pretty good at making Michael Bay movies.

The home release for AoE is weird. Half the movie was shot in Imax, but the entire 2D disc is letterboxed, while the 3D disc fills the screen when the Imax parts takeover, same as the cimema version.

A trick I found to watch the extended picture without having to wear the pesky glasses, is to turn off the glasses. For me this unblurs the screen. While I do like 3D, the active shutter glasses I have strain my eyes after a while, so its nice to able to see AoE's bigger picture in 2D.

Its also why I stopped 3D gaming. The depth is nice, but playing a few hours of Assassin's Creed 3 with the camera constantly whipping around just killed my eyes and gave me a headache. It wasn't so bad for Mortal Kombat 9 since the view is mostly stationary, but the cutscenes in the story mode werent in 3D, just the fights. Pointless!

So when I do get around to buying a new screen, I'm going to make sure its with passive 3D. Same unmotorized frames as the theatre.

Man...not that anyone gives a rip but that's not EVEN the same thing. An episode of the cartoon in '85 did the whole bringing Cybertron into Earth's atmosphere as well. That's what the third movie was doing. I think that this movie IS doing Unicron. It sure looks like it from the trailer. I'm gonna go into hater mode if Unicron is just a planet and doesn't turn into that Galactus sized gargoyle monster..

It was more than an episode!

I had the VHS tape that had that multi-episode arc!  THE ULTIMATE DOOM!

Obviously, it wasn't exactly the same thing as actually having Unicron... I'm just saying that the visual of two planetary bodies against each other has already been used in one of Bay's movies.

Well yeah I got that part. Planets coming within close proximity of each other is a recurring thing with this property. That why I'd hope that they go with the planet devouring visual. A creature that huge would be...interesting.

I think it's funny that the cartoon was actually more realistic (such as it is) than the movies cuz when Cybertron came into Earth's orbit on the cartoon it caused all manner of devastating natural disasters. Tidal waves. Earthquakes. In the movie? Nothing.

And yeah, I'd forgotten about that episode being a two parter. That was pretty epic when I was a kid!

I think it was a three-parter

I looked it up. You're right. It was three. I blanked on that..

And people say that Bayformers isn't G1 enough. DotM was basically a direct adaptation of 2 or 3 G1 arcs, as well its own awesome stupid stuff.

Keep calm and hail Megatron.

Better move on that quick. Nobody is doing 3D in their 2017 models, and 2016 LGs are already pretty scarce.

Well, you could always wait twenty or thirty years for 3D to get around to being a flash in the pan again.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass 3D..

Megatron is crooked. Everyone knows Starscream will make Cybertron great again!

I dont know...a part of me is glad Bay is tied with his silly giant robot collateral damage movies instead of being unleashed somewhere else.

Hell, maybe he can hand Zack Snyder the Matrix of Leadership of these movies once he retires.

Avatar 2 comes out in 2020. James Cameron will make it popular again.

Still holding out hope that they come out with those glasses free 3D sets they've been R&Ding for the last few years, within the next few years. I want that Minority Report tech now dammit!

Awesome.

That was some Beast Wars level shit at the end there. Blown to bits? No problem, just pull yourself together.

Bumblebee too OP please nerf.

It was almost like a girl power PSA by Dove or something.  Really leaning into the empowerment HARD.  And all that's well and good, but I was wonder if that footage of her talking to the camera is actually in the movie too?  I HOPE IT IS.

Here's that extended spot I was talking about a month or so ago:

Just the first half of the video:

EMPOWERING!!!

also, it looks like this movie has a Megan Fox clone in the ensemble?  I think she was in one of the later trailers I saw before a movie.  I thought she WAS Megan Fox at first.

But it turns out she's Laura Haddock, who played Meredith Quill in the Guardians of the Galaxies.  She was also already in a marble movie before that as a blonde woman who is really excited to get Captain America's autograph in First Avenger.

SHARED CINNAMON UNIVERSE!!!

Oh, shit. One of those pinup girls was going to audition for my short film last year, but she cancelled.

I probably wouldn't have cast her anyway because she's British and thought her accent might be incongruous.
