ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY - An Actual Post-Release Thread - Page 106

The day movies are filled with ghastly CGI zombies of whichever dead actors the Disney Nostalgiatron 3000 has decided are the most profitable is the day I stop bothering with them altogether.

I am surprised he is so down on his role in Rogue One.  It did not seem to me like his character was there [primarily] for pandering value.

Ugh the poopy heads in this thread!

Rogue One?

Better than TFA. Worse than TLJ.

It boggles my mind that TFA - which is good, no doubt about it - is the one the world seems to love most consistently.

He's saying he had to work with them to get the character to where it was in the final film.  It was much thinner on paper and Yen still wishes the role could've been fleshed out more in light of the general practice of pandering for the Chinese market.

Doesn't he say something like [paraphrasing]: "you think the end product of Rogue One is bad, you should have seen what it was like before!"

I took that to mean he wasn't impressed with his role in Rogue One (as it ended up on the screen).

Donnie Yen is better in Highlander: Endgame than he is in Rogue One.

It was more like "you think the character was cliched in the film?  you should've seen what it was like before!"

And it's true.  The guy was a cliche.  A cliche I don't mind because he's just so charismatic with what little screentime he has.  But still one I can see Yen express some regret about in terms of not pushing for more.

Hey when you want the Ip man you want the Ip man.

If they want the Ip Man, you'd probably have to make Ip Man the lead as opposed to a supporting player.

But that isn't gonna happen anytime soon.

Yeah.  He died.  And then his body was incinerated by a Death Star blast.  I think "never" is a fair guess.

That’s... possible??

That’s said, he shouldn’t feel too bad. He was about the only human character in the film with an ounce of charm!

Mendo's pimp cape is superior to Snokes way over the top Hugh Hefner jacket.

I also love everything about Liam Neeson in the film and don't hate Jake Lloyd's performance anywhere near as much as I'm supposed to.
