Questions for Rob Zombie

Thread Starter
I'm talking to the man this week. Got any questions you'd like me to ask him? I'm trying to keep clear of the usual bullshit we've read so many times before about the Universal/MGM debacle and stuff about Corpses' delay.

Post your questions here and I'll sift through them.
Would you ever consider playing a villain in horror movie?
I'm just wondering if he'll use the director comantary of the DVD to slam all of the other studio's that fucked with him.
Will "House" be the last Rob Zombie movie or can we expect some more in the future ?
What took him so long to make a horror film?

What film if ever truly truly scared the dreads off of him?

Where would he like to see horror go in the near future..

Probably cliche but you asked so there
What horror film would he love to remake?

Has he considered presenting his film(s) in a direct web stream or download format, paid for by advertising, to cut all the studio bullshit?

Will we see an Unrated DVD?
What does he get the most satisfaction from making music or movies?

Has there ever been talk of getting White Zombie back together?

What is his favorite horror film?

What does Rob think of the 21st century horror movie genre in general?

Floyd - he's stated time and time again, "no, White Zombie is not getting back" Just sort of a "they did what they came to do, now it's done" thing from what I've heard.

As for my question additions:

How was the scoring process?
(addition to question of more movies) If you do more films, what kind of style do you see yourself getting into? (like, either the kinda colorful, exploitation-feel of HO1KC, adapting other styles to combine into it, or what?)
Do you still want to do a Crow film?
Intent for the next album?

I think that's it.

Hey Evil, one can hope! wink
I would like to know who his favorite authors and directors are. I'd also like to know if there is going to be a Zombie commentary track on the DVD.
Floydian Trip- Zombie's stated recently, that "I've tried to like the new stuff, but honestly I can't. Everything after 1985 is shit."

So that tells you what he thinks of present day horror.

For my questions....

1) Does he plan to direct outside horror and if so, why?

2) What is his "Dream Horror Movie" to do? Is it original, and if so, what is it?

3) Is he a fan of horror literature as well, or just horror movies?

4) What does his comic collection consist of?

Okay...so the last one is lame, but I'm curious.

Hey Fixxxer, when did he say that and was it regarding american cinema/hollywood?

Audition isn't crap
nor
The Others
Below
Ginger Snaps
Funny Games
etc..

I think he must have been talking about maintsream hollywood which has been crap but there have been a decent stream of good horror via indie and foriegn films for at least the last decade.
Zombie was on the radio in my home town last fall before he did a concert. He said about the same thing. He hates the slick Hollywood style horror movie. I think he mentioned 13 Ghosts and a few others. He is a very smart guy and knows a hell of a lot about classic horror. He showed footage of Corpses' on the screen behind him during his concert and upset some parents that were in attendance. There were several letters to the editor calling him a Satanist and calling for bans of his CDs. Yeah. He is so evil that he writes songs about the Munsters. Anyway, back on topic, I'd like to know what recent indie horror movies he has liked and what is his most prized horror collectable.

ok, here goes my geeky little question:
With him being involved in art has he ever considered doing a comic book, or a book with collections of his original artwork in it?
Those dreds have GOT to be a pain in the ass.
I can never think of any good questions.

Is he glad to be thought of as a super geek boy that got lucky and made the big time?

That's not a dig, I mean... I'm a geek. I just get the feeling he's representin'...yo

... including his own movie if you ask me...
If I wanted to use one of his songs for a student film project (like Never Gonna Stop for example), does he have any kind of (cheap) deal for film students? wink

uhh, how about if he would ever consider directing a movie musical (ala. Rocky Horror). You know that would kick some major ass.
Aerosmith are the biggest bunch of sellout pansies out there! That's not much of an accomplishment if you ask me. Their career went to shit after the 70's!

Have you checked out Rob's latest CD, good stuff! I agree White Zombie was great but imo solo Rob is just as good but different. Kind of like Sabbath/Ozzy.

So many stupid questions I'd love to ask... But I guess I'll try to think of a good one here...

There are some real horror icons in 'Corpses' (Karen Black, Sid Haig, etc.). Being a horror fan, did he seek them out specifically for the movie, or did they have to audition?

Also, what other horror icons would he like to work with/direct in the future?

nah, youre forgetting something. Ozzy recruited guitarists who knew more than 2 chords. Rob's yet to accomplish that task.

i just skimmed the above questions so forgive me if this has been asked but, what writers would Rob like to work with on his next movie(s)? and would he let someone else do one of his scores/soundtracks?
Sorry, off topic here for a second but HT did you happen to catch the Iron Maiden concert where they filmed their DVD? I saw the tour here in Chicago and the crowd totally sucked. In fact, Maiden said Chicago was the worst stop on the tour for them.
1- Whatever happened to that script for a crow sequel he wrote? Has it been reworked, will it be a new project of his, has he forgotten about it entirely?

2- How does he feel about the modern remake craze, and would he ever consider directing/writting a remake? Which film would he choose?

Hey fiends, just got done talking to the man...thanks for the suggestions. Interview will be up on Friday!
The interview is up, bitches.

Great Interview, Ryan.
Yeah, Good one Rotten!
Bitches? Great, now I've got two pimps.
That was great. I feel like I know him now...
Nice interview.

Also, I never realized that Shane from The Shield was in this! I'm sure he'll give a fun performance...
I enjoyed the interview also. I don't know if I can drag my wife to see this in the theaters, though. I may have to go alone, or with my buddy who is also a big Zombie fan.

My RZ question (albeit much too late):

Are you being considered to play Lobo in the next Superman movie? (c'mon, he kinda looks like him, doesn't he?)
This was a really great interview. I mean, come on man... I was like, 'Oh yeah, I'll write the script!' I went home and I was just like, 'Shit! How do you fuckin' write a script?'

Also got a snicker out of: "That's cool. You can paint yourself a really cool helmet."

I'm looking forward to this movie, but I'll be seeing Halloween for the first time (and on the big screen, w00tah) April 11th instead.
Great interview! Good thing you didn't ask any of my questions because it tuened out really funny and interesting without them. That's what I love about Zombie, the guy is smart and knows what he wants to do and he's really laid back. I can't wait for House!!!
SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!

For anybody who has seen House Of 1000 Corpses, i have one question. At the end of the movie, what does Dr. Satan say? He says something right before he releases the monster.

END SPOILERS
Nice job Ryan. Tho I would have liked to have known his plans for this Halloween (another haunted house?), his current favorite music/films/comic books/novels.
I dug the hell out of the interview. I'm really excited that there's a new director on the block who actually respects the genre.
