I'll have this on Tuesday regardless of the negetive things I've heard. Is it really that bad?

Don't listen to all that bullshit. I got the DVD friday, my video store puts things out earlier(I think thats illegal) and I watched it. It's full of gore, I haven't seen gore like this in.....forever. They didn't pull any punches as far as that goes. And its a fairly original story with a few cool plot twists. I ever found it superior to below. which I really didn't think I would. When it comes out officially tuesday im buying and you should too.

Hate it with the fire of a thousand suns.

Although I'm sure that the Halle Berry mess next October will surpass it.

There's only one good scene in it, and it's not the opening. But hey, some people liked it. Maybe there's something I'm missing.

Then again, some people keep going to see Jennifer Lopez movies....

I'm with you Floyd, I somehow missed it at the theatre, but I'll be picking it up myself.

I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a really fun movie

hated it hated it hated it. theopening scene is gory, the rest is like a watered down beer. and stupidity is in overabundance in this flick. and too many characters were wasted on weak kills. don't see any originality either....nope, i would avoid this movie like an offer of of anal butt games from Ernest Borgnine.

Tuesday?! I'm hearing Friday in my neck of the woods. Regardless, I will be there to get my copy as soon as possible, saw it at the theater and loved it.

YES...

"Ghost Ship" DOES NOT hit shelves until Friday the 28th. That is the official street date.

So, whatever your local Best Buy is intending to do come Tuesday is beyond me.

I've just rented the DVD yesterday. Not a bad flick but not great either. The opening scene is actually pretty decent with a quite a lot of gore and action. However, the movie slows down from there. In my opinion Ghost Ship is not nearly as effective and well-executed as 13 Ghosts was. Also, the make-up FX are not quite as elobarate and excentric in my opinion. The DVD presentation itself is nice. It comes with a gimmicky holgram cover and boasts several behind-the-scenes featurettes ranging from 5 to 15 minutes in length.

After I post this I'll go read the review. I liked it. I liked it alot actually. First off the images that the DVD flashes through when changing menus are pretty disturbing, very cool. I jumped from menu to menu for a few minutes just to see them a couple of times. Wow, that opening sequence is just sweet as hell. It starts off with some great colors, very rich in detail and the singers voice is very serene and relaxing and then that winch started to move and so did my testicles, right up into my body cause I knew what was coming and the fact they did in in slow motion made it all the more excruciating. The images of the people clutching at their lower halves lying next to them and flopping around on the ground will stick with me forever. Aside from that there were some good fright gags even though instead of really getting freaky they stuck with the obvious. I don't think Warner Brothers would have allowed them to let their imaginations run wild at this point in the horror movie timeline. I think they must have had some great ideas but weren't allowed to use them. I say this just because of the sets and the way things were set up for some really mind bending stuff that surely must have crossed their minds. Hollywood is all about being safe and Kubrick wasn't directing to say F you I'm doing it this way so I don't think it's fair to expect many ountlandish things until the suits get their damn priorities straight! The girl could have been scarier, more like the twins in The Shining, but again it's Warner Brothers. Like I said I liked it alot, of course it could have been better but I can say the same thing about The Others which I thought was a great movie but again tempered by the pathetically mundane Hollywood!

I watched this movie this morning, and God help me, I liked it. A lot.

All told, though, I'm pretty easy to please.

It doesn't take much to please me with horror either but I do have some standards! I think it was a genuinely good movie though. It seemed like towards the end they had to cram alot of plot in there because they took their time allowing it to unfold in the beginning but I enjoyed the whole thing pretty much. A really cool moment for me was when the girl took the woman on a tour of the flashbacks. When they showed that opening dance floor scene again the girls expression as she's watching it over again was great! Anybody know what I'm talking about?

[EDIT]

From watching it once I think she was grimacing at her initial facial reaction to the captains head getting sliced in half as she's watching herself and remembering what that moment was like the first time through!

I have gone in knowing exacly what to expect and thouroughly enjoyed all 3 Dark Castle films so far. My only complaint is let-down ending on both Ghost Ship and House on Haunted Hill. Course, hill was the worst ending of the three.

I will be picking this up, and i will keep supporting the castle in all they do. Otherwise they may have to stop doing it.

Remember.... bad horror is better han good anything else!

What a fantastic opening. High tension wires are a wonderful thing.

The rest of the film = ho-hum.
