"House of Re-Animator" = old news?

Thread Starter
Does anyone else remember hearing Gordon pitching this as his Re-Animator sequel years ago? I think it was either the movie he wanted to do as the first sequel (by that I mean instead of Bride) and I think he brought it up again in response to the possibility of a third film.

Does anyone else remember reading or hearing this before?

(Some of you may remember me bringing it up in a thread I started a while back about "projects that never were," films which were developed or proposed but never made.)

He's referring to this, by the way. I don't remember it, but The Inspector's better at that sorta thing than I am anyway.

Yeah, that is an old rumor. It was originally Gordon's idea for the third Re-Animator. He wanted to go with "House" to continue the trend started with "Bride" of using the old Universal Frankenstein sequel titles.

At the time I think it would've involved West having to revive Bush Sr. but I think the current administration might be even more ripe for a visit from Herbert West.

Wow, so there is some solidity to this? I just had a feeling that Gordon was pulling my leg for some reason, but if it's something that's been around for a while now, groovy.

In today's current political climate, there's no way in hell a script like this could find funding. It's a helluva cool idea, though, but I would imagine that if it ever gets made, Dubya and Cheney would be rewritten as generic presidential figures. Which is kinda unfortunate. Something about the idea of Dick Cheney's disembodied head going on an evil rampage in the halls of Congress just gives me those warm tinglies...

It is a damn funny idea, more camp than anything else, but Gordon was very specific that it's about the current administration, so I don't think a generic preseidental situation would do. Who knows.

Comedy Central had a short lived sitcom about Bush Jr. "House" could get made, and I'd love to see it happen. I can't wait to see "Beyond" as it is.

I do love the "House of" title. Along with "Bride of" it matches the old Universal titles much better than "Beyond."
