Because people smoked in the '70s.

Right!?

We should put MichaelM in front of A Clockwork Orange and then do this to him:

Ohohohoho!

Oh wait. He won't get this because he's not seen the movie!

Don't forget The Simpsons is a thing.

Peer pressure has never worked on me.

Speaking of the Simpsons: never watched an entire episode.

The Simpsons is the greatest.

From season 3-7, with allowance for 8-10.

Anyways MM, this can be your bad taste and/or pretentiousness thread.

I already caved once this week. My lesson from that: never cave.

Also: A Clockwork Orange isn't even the biggest gap in my film viewing.

I hope you don't feel uncomfortable for me bringing this up but I have to ask: are you, by any chance, blind?

Nor have I. In fact I've never seen the Blues Brothers all the way through.

Drop everything and watch A Clockwork Orange and Blues Brothers.

Every single time you even think about Power Rangers or the umpteenth Star Wars, remind yourself you should be watching A Clockwork Orange and Blues Brothers.

MichaelM watched Terminator: Genysis a few months ago. He could've been watching A Clockwork Orange.

I've seen The Blues Brothers!

Not good enough!

Next time ACO is on one of the services I'm already paying for, I'll make some time.

Blood Father?

Could've been watching A Clockwork Orange.

Shorter and cheerier. Easy choice.

Whatever you're doing right now?

Could've been watching A Clockwork Orange.

Winding up Bart >>> Watching ACO

I've seen "A Clockwork Orange." And more than one episode of "The Simpsons."

What do I win?

The sweetest prize of all... the adoration and respect of an online movie forum.

My respect!

I've even seen the "Treehouse of Horror" episode where Bart dresses as Alex from ACO.

...I think A Clockwork Orange is Kubrick's weakest film (but it's still great).

I'm the one guy that doesn't care for Full Metal Jacket. It's quotable, but a total slog.
The only reason "Full Metal Jacket" isn't the greatest anti-war/war movie ever made is that Kubrick also made "Paths of Glory".
Confession: I haven't seen Kubrick's "Napoleon."
Confession: I've seen Full Metal Jacket and it's good but I don't like war movies and I don't watch war movies and I'd generally rather watch any fluffy ol' Marvel movie than a war movie (unless it's Infinity War :P). A Clockwork Orange is good though..

I've seen Full Metal Jacket. And 2001.

No Clockwork, and no Strangelove, though.

I'm guessing all copies of "Barry Lyndon" may as well be on the moon then. smile.gif

Because Clockwork Orange was unavailable in the UK until Kubrick died it really suffered from massive weight of expectation for me.

I'd studied the book at school and so finally seeing the film was a let down. Especially the final scene.

...so I don't have to watch it! Problem solved!

P.R. Deltoid slays me in "Clockwork." I love how that guy says, "Yesss?!"
I can't stand watching Malcolm McDowell eat at the end of A Clockwork Orange when he's in the neck brace and being fed. I wanna feed him a fist sandwich..

I think that's the point, yesss?

It is the point. Doesn't make it less annoying.

And The Deer Hunter was a one and done for me. Of all the war/military/anti-war movies ever made....that's the one that comes closest to triggering some seriously real PTSD. I mean...I'm not a 'Nam veteran (obviously) but war is war, and soldiers are soldiers, and that's how you feel about your brothers. It's a raw nerve and it's too real. It's a masterpiece...but I can't watch it ever again. Or don't want to anyway..
I found the wedding sequence very disturbing. No one ever talks about it, although it's like an hour long. That's how upsetting it is.
