Last House on the Left

Watching it for the first time. Thirty minutes into it...Um, weird.

Ahh, Krug...

Memories.

That flick is rotgut, tawdry, and vile. Oh, and genius, too. It's so very harsh-and the years haven't dulled it's edge. Wes Craven admits to being in a bad mental state while making Last House. He said he had a lot of rage inside him-and a bit of a mean streak--and it shows.

Yeah, it was...off-kilter. Was it really based on a true story, or what?

HAM, you up for chat now? I miss the hell out of you, man!

Close, "Re-animator" was the answer we were looking for. Have since changed over to "Alone in the Dark." Much better.

Didja notice that Re-Animator's theme is just the recycled remains of Psycho's theme?

*And the decapitation scene just registered an 80 on the Cool-O-Gram*

The first time I saw Last House on the Left I saw it with a friend and his parents. Eeek. It was funny though, they aren't uptight obviously, and his mom was telling us about when the movie first got released how it was scaring the shit out of people and all. Pretty neat to hear a first hand recount of the public reaction to a movie like Last House when it premiered.

And Herrmann was blatantly ripped by Band. I have the CD soundtrack which also includes Bride's score too, there's a little interview inside and Band's like oh yeah I wanted to pay homage...eh heh heh. That's a little beyond homage IMO.

Wow, Alone in the Dark! I'm impressed. This is one of the greatest, truly weird horror gems ever put to film. Could not love it more. How did you like it, DJEvil?

Martin Landau: "I Want the Hat"

Donald Pleasance: "Mind stopped ... is God."

Liked it a great deal. After Martin Landau said, "I made the lights go out," my friend and I kept talking as the characters:
"I made this window."
"I made this hockey mask."
"I made this ax go in his back."

GREAT ending.

No holodeck scenarios for Barkley made me feel uncomfortable, though.

"Alone in the Dark"?!? I haven't seen that in years. I remember it being very cool, tho. And one scene really sticks in my mind... when that girl is one the bed and the knife keeps coming up though the mattress.
Also, that truly bizarre scene in the diner (I think it was a dream sequence).

Just watched this, damn.. I didn't know what to expect before viewing it, guess I expected more of a supernatural horror than than the real type shit.. the real shit is way way more powerful

I don't think I've ever been so happy when the bad guy died as in this movie

you do realize this thread is almost 2 years old right

Sat down and watched the DVD of this last night and I did enjoy it (wouldn't go so far as to say I LOEVED IT-I loved the making of featurette though, kinda made me aprreciate the movie a bit more) but what I would like to know is how many people did this movie disturb? I mean I liked the flick and all but it didn't have any real sort of "impact" on me aside from the dream scene with weasel and ...ahem...a chiesel (shiver). how many of you out there were able to see the theatrical release and what effect did it have on you? Anyone see it reently and have the same feelings? Are we so numbed in the American society these days or is it just me? (for the record, Se7en disturbed the hell outta me)
and what about the "stories" of people fainting and fights breaking out with people rushing the projection booth? Truth or urban legend?

These are the kinds of threads I miss: we'd talk about the subject very loosely before it broke down into whimsical nonsense between me and HAM. The train was halfway off the tracks from the beginning, if you take my meaning.

Damn, I miss being funny.

Need to watch "Alone in the Dark" again.

It makes me laugh, too, and I don't even know what the hell it means...
