Oh shit, it is going to be Rex, isn’t it?

Possibly still an upgrade from Gruden.

Rex Ryan is awful, the only choice that would make me miss ThisGuy Magoo. So, ESPN will almost certainly hire him.

Possibly my worst experience this season was the night they had Rex and that new lady in the booth together.

Sho mush talking frew teef.

I almost gave up on pro football, altogether.

I'm in it for the trainwreck factor.  He might start talking about his foot fetish, or the brawl he just left at Applebees.

And maybe even slip Rob Ryan in there once in a while to see if anyone notices.

I'm pulling for the Bills and Vikings in the playoffs, for what it's worth.

I'm pulling for the Vikings and Jaguars.  Maybe the Rams.

Rooting for the Titans but I'm still not sure if they're even good. So weird that they're in the playoffs.

Steelers OC Todd Haley injured his hip during a "fall" on New Year's Eve. Lay off the sauce, Todd.

I forgot about the Titans, Rams, and Jags!  I really don't mind any of them.  Rams have been consistently exciting.

May be easier to say who I'm not pulling for:  Pats, Steelers, Falcons, and Eagles can all go away.  Sadly, I doubt they will.

I don't think the Eagles get very far. Foles isn't the QB Wentz is, and that defense has evaporated.

Too bad Romo didn’t wait another year to retire. He’d be great on Monday Night.

I could totally see Romo becoming Dandy Don 2.0.

Update from a Pittsburgh sports radio guy:

Andrew Fillipponi

I’m hearing the Haley incident occurred at Tequila Cowboy and police were involved.

lol

EDIT:

Now I’m hearing that Haley’s wife, Chrissy Haley, was also involved in the incident.

Carson Palmer just retired. Knew that was coming - he was Bruce Arians' guy, through and through.

I think Fitzgerald plays at least another season, whether in Arizona or somewhere else. He's like 400 yards away from being the #2 receiver of all time. You don't walk away from that when it's that attainable.

Never change Bengals. How in the world does Marvin Lewis get a 2 year extension? I’d be livid if I’m a Bengals fan.

... I seriously thought that was a mistake at first.  Thought he was already gone.

All hail the new Jeff Fisher!

I think I'm more surprised by the people keeping their jobs this year than those who got fired.

Hey, hold on a miniute, Fisher made it to a SB.

I echo the sentiments of all who are happy to see Gruden leave the MNF booth, if he does in fact go to the Raiders.  He was actually kinda fun at first, but his act got really old, really fast.

As for who could replace him. I like McDonaugh but I feel it will be someone shitty. Rex Ryan would be a joke, I'm reading Tim Tebow's name which would also be a joke, which ESPN would probably hire one of those guys.

Maybe Cutler finally stays retired, and lobbies for the job. Why the hell not!

Watching McDonough and Gruden a couple of times this year, they didn't click at all. I remember seeing this moment live - https://sports.yahoo.com/sean-mcdonough-reminds-jon-gruden-025327594.html

Well, shit sorry I missed that. Talk about akward.

Maybe he's glad to see him go.

Back in 2015, Gruden referred to Shane Vereen as one of the "best Black backs in football".

The man is simply not suited for broadcast. Whatever he meant to say, it came out very wrong. And it happened too often. He spends more time with his foot in his mouth than not.

Barry Sanders did

Barry Sanders was a Lion.  So I understand.

I am going to miss Fitzgerald when he finally goes.  Watching him in the years when the Cardinals fielded a competent QB was a thing of awe.  He has always been great, regardless of who was throwing him the ball, but he was transcendent with the right partner.  He should be a consensus first ballot Hall of Fame lock, with zero debate required.  They should be fighting each other to nominate him.

Teams' 2018 opponents have been coming out for the last week or so.

On the one hand, the plan is to visit Boston next season and see a game in Foxborough. Those home opponents will make for some affordable tickets.

On the other hand, come the fuck on, NFL.

Like, what, three competitive games there?  Five if the Bills manage to not fall apart?  That schedule is such a joke.

Oh and we mention the Brown's "Perfect Season" parade is happening?  Because it's happening!  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/the-browns-0-16-parade-is-actually-going-to-happen-and-here-are-all-the-details/

I love that the main sponsors of the Browns parade are Excedrin and Farmers Only.

It's going to have floats! If I lived in the Cleveland area, I would mount a revolving door on a float, and have different guys with QB jerseys just walking around in a circle.

The header at brownsparade.com is maybe my favorite memory of the past few years. That or Weeden getting swallowed up by that American flag during their home opener a few years back.

You know that it's formula based, right?

Plus its mostly division, pre-set vs AFC and NFC conference of that year, and THEN the 2 other conference division winners. So really, a "first place schedule" has 12 of the same 14 opponents that a "last place schedule" would. And given the fungibility of the NFL, those last place teams, can oftentimes be tougher games than the first place games.

For example, last year's 3rd place Washington team had the Saints, Rams, and Vikings on their schedule, while the 2nd place Bucs got the Cards, Lions, and Giants.

I'm highly interested in NE being @ Jacksonville in 2018. And if Minnesota keeps the momentum going from this year to the next, plus having Dalvin Cook back, that could also make things difficult for NE. Also, who knew KC would steamroll NE this year? Or that the Rams would win their division? I'm sure there will be some surprises again in 2018.

Meanwhile, playoffs! Who ya got this weekend?

KC vs Tennessee (I'll take KC at home)

Jacksonville vs Buffalo (with no McCoy and the way they had to back into the playoffs, I'll take the Jags)

Carolina vs New Orleans (Can you beat the same team 3x in a season? Pittsburgh did it with Cleveland a while back--but I think Cam will be pissed and there's got to be some kind of upset this weekend, right? I'll go with Carolina)

LA Rams vs Atlanta (Cross country trip will not help Atlanta and that secondary can't hold up vs the deadly Goff/Cupp combo)

Yeah. I guess I just want more accountability out of team owners to put more effort into their product. I mean, you can't extend the season, you can't change the divisions to refresh things.

A lot of the games are scheduled years in advance using the NFL's formula, but it sucks when a team like the Patriots seems to get a cupcake season so often. But that's neither the Patriots' nor the NFL's fault... it's the shitty way those other soft teams are managed, each year. This year has been an outlier because the Bills and Jags have both come out of nowhere to contend. But how often does that sort of shakeup happen in their divisions?

Maybe the NFL should audit a team's performance every few years and really look into what ownership is doing to uphold the appeal and integrity of the game. The continued mess happening in markets like Cleveland, Cincinnati and Indianapolis (owners who seem to care exactly dick about their team's success) shouldn't be rewarded with the ability to continuously put out a shit product and just keep making money off it.

BOOM!

Also, I lost our pick 'ems bet. Next season, every video and Sunday, I have to wear the worst jersey Page can think of. If you guys would, leave a comment on the video or the Twitter to give her ideas. Do your fucking worst.

(No murderers, woman-beaters or animal killers.)

Ugh. I lost my pickems to my wife. We were tied going into the last week, then in the early games I picked the Texans, and that put her up one game. Then we picked the same for all the afternoon games except the Falcons Panthers. I hate the Panthers, but was hoping they would win so I could end my season in a tie. No luck. I think in the 6 or 7 years I've done Pickem against my wife I have still yet to beat her. Last season ended in a tie, but only because I didn't get picks in on time one week and didn't get a Thursday game I would have gotten right. Dammit!

Patriots drama!  Whoop Whoop!  *Drudge Siren*

It would be kinda amazing if Brady and Kraft end up shooting themselves in the foot in a spat with Belichick.

I'm fine with Darth Mumbles not returning to Cleveland, unless it's to replace Haslam as owner. Good Lord Haslam sucks so very much.

That Wickersham story is quite something. So basically, Garoppalo went to SF as a sop to Brady's ego? Am I reading that right?

Don't know, don't care.  I'm just high as a kite over the possibility that the Vikings are actually gonna pull this shit off.

I heard on the radio today from a guy who runs a Vegas sportsbook that Minnesota would be favored over the Patriots if they end up meeting. That surprised me, but I'd like to see it happen.

I don’t get why Kraft would side w/ Brady over Belicheck. Brady is one of the best of all time, but the team was fine withot him in 2008. I think if you pull Brady out and keep Belicheck as coach, I think that team is still a Super Bowl contender. Not sure the opposite is true. Personally, I would have traded Brady and kept Garropolo. But then, all sports owners are pretty dumb

10 years, 100 million for Gruden?

Christmas came late (or really early) this year.  Lloyd Christmas.

They didn't want to. Davis wanted out of Oakland and Vegas ponied up the money to make it happen. Which makes sense. Las Vegas is the Mark Davis haircut of major cities.
