Wait, are our keepers drafted first or last? I may be away from the web tomorrow and need to set my autopick settings and need to know when the keepers are going.
2017-2018 NFL Fantasy Football season - Page 2
I remember someone specifically adding Tebow to my team the first year, and I thought this was because everybody thought Espn wouldn't do it properly.
That was crazy--I was sitting in the vendor hall at DragonCon and was at 31% on my phone with no charger when the draft got restarted so I ran to our hotel room for the restart and to charge my phone. I missed my last two picks because I was doing it on my phone and my mom called for a check in. Lol.
The NFL is having a conference call this morning to determine the fate of the Bucs/Dolphins game. Miami is expecting 95 MPH winds thanks to Hurricane Irma at the scheduled game time, so that's going to be a non-starter. Playing Thursday probably isn't an option, mostly for prep time but also because I imagine they don't want eyes being taken away from the big kickoff game on NBC. Friday is out because the police and fire personnel will likely be tied up with high school football games. So it's looking like they'll either play Saturday (The U is on the road this week), play Monday (assuming forecasts have the storm out of the area by then), or, since both teams have a bye in Week 11, move the game to that date. Which means they'd both go 17 games straight without a break.
I honestly did not think Denver would win, much less win in a complete blow-out, capped with a huge pick-six. I am so good at fantasy...
Davante Adams and Devonta Freeman pushed me to a win tonight. Currently scouring the waiver wire for Divantes, Doventes, Davantis and any other variation I can find.
Woo hoo, 3-0 this week. And not a game was close, surprisingly. My Yahoo CHUD team killed it. I was constantly getting pinged with TDs. And in my money league, I actually had benched Crabtree and still one by 20+ FP.
EDIT: Although Jordan Howard almost torpedoed me in two leagues--the CHUD league was close b/c he had a whole .70 FP.
Against the Cardinals right now? Don't say it's impossible...
Arizona could barely contain Indy last week. I don't know how we're going to cover both Beasley and Dez, on top of Witten and Zeke.
It's time for Arizona to start making some changes. If Baltimore can bench Flacco, we can bench Palmer.
I'm surprised Benjamin didn't break his leg/tear his AFP yesterday. I wouldn't be too hard on him. That and Cam is still hurt. He's not making the easy throws.
I scooped him up off waivers because of the matchup and because of how shitty the Seattle O-line looked through 2 weeks.
I also lost Chris Carson that same day. Not to mention, Allen Robinson in week 1. I am the Reaper this year.
Age old question: is it fair and ethical to bench that defense and take the victory formation, or should you play them and risk the outside chance of negative points?
I was curious, and it looks like that sort of thing is a widely-debated subject in the realm of fantasy. Some people think it's unethical and every player you start you should leave active and the strategy ends as soon as your roster is finalized. Others say it's a legit strategy, and many fantasy football guides have it as one of their tips and tricks for success. Some leagues penalize you if you don't set a complete starting line-up and play it to completion.
Seems like it's more for narrow leads though, and you run the risk of a stat correction fucking things up for you in the end. I personally have a 20+ point lead going into tonight*, so I may as well just start the defense and maybe it'll add to my total points - should I need a higher point total on the season at a later date.
*My opponent had Travis Kelce who, until he went out for the second time to get tested for a concussion after a hit, looked like he was going to be trouble. But Tyreek Hill came through for me in the end - especially with that kick return touchdown - and cemented the win by a healthy margin.
By the way, how many of you include kick return yardage for your individual players who play special teams as well as offense? We didn't do it, but I might bring it up to my co-commish next season.
In my league return yards are part of the DST only. I think that's the way it should be, personally.
As for the original question, the reason I think benching is okay is because in most leagues there is some tiebreaker that boils down to overall points. So you could be hurting yourself in the long run, in order to make sure you get a victory this week. In either case it's a slim chance it would make a difference, but it is a trade-off, and your right to make it.
Feh. I lost 2 of my leagues this week because I lost both QBs--Rodgers and Winston. I'm 4-2 in my money league, along with 2 other teams. And I didn't like the hit on Rodgers. I didn't think it was dirty per se, but I thought it was beyond what was necessary. Rodgers wouldn't have won me that league, but Winston might have won me the other. I don't know what it is about that ESPN CHUD league--I just can't seem to put together any wins in that league in the past 3-4 seasons.
Drafting Bell, Fournette, and Hunt 1-2-3 gets most of the credit. Also got Ertz and Crabtree super late and picked up Wentz after week 1 before anyone realized he was going to be this good.
