I'd say along with Nicholas Britell, he's one of a few composers doing really interesting work with non-traditional sounds.

I'm actually listening to "Together We Will Live Forever" as I write this.

 

 

Surprised David Wingo's excellent work on Take Shelter hasn't been mentioned yet. I can't tell you how much I've played "At The Beach" from that score. It really captures the magical and foreboding elements of that movie.
