So do the Skrulls kill who they replace? It seems like a wacky twist for the sake of it.

Oh right, Skrulls are a bit like what has already been done with Hydra.

But I can't imagine you introduce the Skrulls in Captain Marvel and not take advantage of their shapeshifting abilities.

Not always. Secret Invasion revealed several characters had been in captivity for years, like Hawkeye's wife Mockingbird who "died" in the '90s but was retconned to have been a Skrull.

Don't the Skrulls have the memories of those they've replaced? Aren't they themselves often sleeper agents, unaware of their true purpose until triggered?

A bit of both! Spider-Woman was very aware she was the Skrull Queen in disguise. But several characters were sleeper agents, and the Queen even tried to confuse the real Tony by telling him he was a sleeper.

Bear in mind this is a story that has been done a few times before. Johnny Storm's wife Alicia Masters turned out to be a Skrull in disguise back in the '90s, and Wolverine turned out to be a Skrull in disguise in the early '00s when it turned out Apocalypse had kidnapped the real one and turned him into Death.

I mean, honestly, I know I bag on Winter Soldier, but I'm sure it will be great. The step up from WS to Cibbil War was fantastic-  though I know others disagree - and I think the Russos are going to deliver something special.

At this point, my metric for judging these movies is "does it show me stuff I haven't seen before?" Which is why I liked Strange, Guardians 2  and Pider-Man Homecoming so much, and why I'm hype for Black Panther. These movies have grown more confident with each new one, and I'm happy to see that develop.

Isn't this kind of a CW retread with even more hero infighting? Evans is going to have to grow an even more insane beard, the disillusionment will be so heavy!

Once the Skrulls reveal themselves they revert to their normal form, but retain the powers of those they copied.

This is all complete fan fiction as of right now. But I have a feeling, considering Feige has said the title of Avengers 4 is a spoiler.

Are you hooked on a feeling, Bart?

I'm high on believing.

The key difference here is that after the Illuminati (Professor X, Black Bolt, Iron Man, Namor, Reed Richards and Dr Strange) confronted the Skrull Emperor and were captured, the Skrulls worked for years on perfecting their infiltration agents, to the point they had 2 levels of agents:

-Normal Skrull agents whose true personality/memories were impervious to telepathy, like Queen Veranke/Spider-Woman, Impostor Hank Pym and Impostor Black Bolt

-Sleeper Skrull agents who were completely implanted with the memories and personalities of their targets and fully believed themselves to be them, only to be triggered into remembering their skrull origins and alliance.

The problem was that some of the Sleeper Skrulls either truly believed themselves to be their targets, and others, after being activated/triggered, sided with humanity because of personal choice or the influence of their implanted memories/personalities, like the fake original Captain Marvel.

The key difference is that the Skrulls before Veranke's rise power could be detected by telepaths and were fully aware they were skrulls.

I seriously hope the 22 movie, decade long, culmination of the franchise isn't an undermining of all the charters we've become so invested in.

What a kick in the nuts that would be.

Secret Invasion was after my comic reading days, so here's what I want to see: all the monkeying around with the Infinity Gauntlet gets the attention of the Beyonder, who observes all the shenanigans, becomes intrigued, whisks everybody away after their victory and puts them on Battleworld, where he's resurrected a team of villains from past films and pits them against each other. AVENGERS: SECRET WARS, not everybody makes it out alive, cue the survivors for taking over Phase 4.

I can see the Skrull thing being more a thing for characters of less consequence, like say Pepper being replaced while she and Tony were separated.
Wow that trailer for this is ridiculously easy to find now..
Multiple uploads of it showed up in my Youtube recommendations late last night (probably because I'm subscribed to Marvel Studios), but Disney's lawyers seem to be catching up with the game of takedown whack-a-mole now.
I thought surely it'd be something fake or fan made. But nope. It was the real deal. That's why I didn't link to it. Figured that might be a bad idea. Although it was not footage that lined up with what I'd heard. Unless I misunderstood which is entirely possible.

Being THE BIG ONE....I expected it to be mucho apocalyptic...and it was that too but it started with one of the most genuinely funny things I've seen in any of these movies. I'm sure it'll still be plenty grim though..
Why is Marvel even keeping a lid on a freakin' trailer. Just the release the thing official as an "internet exclusive" at this point.
In the interest of disclosure, I've seen the video, and it's just a "not ready for prime time" convention sizzle reel. A better-composed and -edited trailer will probably come with the theatrical release of either Thor: Ragnarok in November, or with Black Panther in February, so that it can add buzz to the release dates for those movies instead of stealing their thunder.

Less time for internet fan boys to find something to nitpick and hate on.

Apparently people are dying seven days after watching that bootleg trailer, so watch yourselves. Supposedly the Scarlet Witch crawls out of your monitor and beats you to death with Mary-Kate and Ashley dolls. Or maybe it's just two of the same doll. Nobody can tell.

Seven days ago I watched the bootleg trailer and now I have Edward Norton following me around 24/7 just tell me how he was the better Banner.

I woke up from a dream this morning in which I got to see a leaked copy of the whole film.

colorful, grandiose, and fun!

now the actual movie is just going to disappoint even more...

You have way too many film dreams.  It's weird.

they're fun

I had one where I was taking a shower at the gym and then Hemsworth pops in

I ask him, "did you need something?"

he says, "just you"

and then I wake up

I'm not even particularly into Hemsworth!

why wasn't it BEAUTIFUL EWAN???

That's so romantic!!

isn't it???

I post these on facebook when I remember enough to write stuff when I wake up all groggy...

just woke up from a dream in which I spent the night with david lynch in an empty university classroom

he pitched an idea he had for a game show or a board game to me.

and then started doing all sorts of equations across multiple whiteboards that seemed like some kind of algorithm related to connecting various films to each other

just woke up from a dream

I was fortressed up in a palatial mansion/castle with various friends preparing explosives for a massive army headed our way.

ohh my... SO MUCH killing... such confusion...

a game of hot potato with a grenade while waiting for the main explosive charge to go off... TENSION! SUSPENSE!

then a final boss goon arrives in a luxury sedan along with the petite asian woman who loves him...

I would shoot and shoot, and he wouldn't go down... constantly mocking me, even when I had his head rammed to a wall and breaking his wrist...

I think I recorded a video of the explosion...

and then I woke up?

just woke up from a specifically POV dream in which I'm outside walking to my car on a rainy night

and am suddenly knocked down by someone hitting me from the back

In most dreams, I think my brain would switch to a cinematic view of the action overall... but this one stays POV, with my body crumpled in a puddle, rain splashing in my eyes, only barely able to see the legs of my attacker and my hand thoughtlessly holding onto his legs

I'm going "ow ow ow owwww"

Then I hear, "you dumb F--K!!"

and another whack

...

then I gently wake up
look side to side
and think wryly

I should watch where I'm going

Had a dream in which I was dragged to a friend's birthday party which had a portion set at an empty strip mall restaurant that was being used as a venue for a reunion tour performance by the Spice Girls.

It was one of the most depressing things I'd ever dreamed about.

The performance was awful... and then the Girls were so excited to hang out with us... even though we were late for the go-karting portion of the birthday party.

I tried to call them to say that we were going to be late, but the reception kept cutting out.

I think I accidentally canceled the go-karting reservation...

Just had a dream where you and I worked at a big convenience store (quite a fancy one). You were the professional, while I was slacking and joking with customers.

Mena Suvari was a customer and she was really bad at talking to guys to get them to go out with her. I told her, "You just gotta talk to them."

And instead, she creeps up behind some guy she's interested in, BEAR HUGS him and growls, "YOU ARE MIIIINE!" The guy freaks out and angrily leaves the store. Suvari laughs and laughs in despair.

You help another customer look for this cream puff ice cream sandwich with crackers that she likes.

But we don't have any left.

so last night, I have a dream featuring what must've been an otherworlds version of MI2, again starring Cruise and Thandie Newton (but no DOUGRAY?) that suddenly includes me and suggests at a threesome?

I wake up.

"HUH?"

this morning, I have a dream that features a series of random situations.... one in which I'm squeezing a zit on my back (I don't know how)

I see a non-stop stream of YELLOW SQUIGGLE...

'whoa whoa whoa'

...that gradually grows thicker...

'ew ew ew'

...the hole expands...

'wut wut wut'

...and suddenly... instead of pus, I see some approximation of:

Image may contain: one or more people

(but without the fangs)

out of shock, I stop squeezing... and the body horror slips back into my shoulder...

then I woke up

Just woke up from a dream in which I saw Nolan's follow up to TDKR.

Bruce and Selina are back in GOFFUM I guess.

William Devane plays Two-Face for some reason, but is given nothing to do.

The city is on the verge of a natural disaster and the people are going crazy.

Batman saves the day by doing an insanely deep dive into the literal heart of the city by jumping into a port that takes him into a trippy kaleidoscope-like experience where he eventually has to pull out the plug that secures the city's water supply.

Yes, like a big big bathtub... in order to prevent the city from flooding over completely.

Somehow he survives. The city does too, but still in ruins. Martial law has begun.

The movie seemed to end on a cliffhanger in which Michael Rooker and Selina Kyle duke it out as we find out that Bruce now controls the only source of water in the city.

Also Sylvester Stallone was suddenly Batman during the ending.

That's as much as I can barely remember.

Woke up from a nap dream in which I was in New York having a chat with presidential candidate Michael Douglas...

We discussed the politics of Power Rangers.

Oh man, had the best dream about one of those puzzle break rooms, but this was more than a room. More like a puzzle compound full of people running around to different rooms and hallways. Like some mad version of the Mario 64 castle.

Perspective and gravity became nothing as rooms rotated and twisted. Like an Inception experience.

None of the puzzles made any sense and I think Julianne Moore was in it as the Puzzle Queen or something!

So sad I woke up.

Had a dream in which i witnessed (or was a part of) some alternate action finale for Furious 7.

Then the crew and I went to a beach to watch a blu-ray of the movie projected onto the air as onlookers gathered to see how Paul Walker's death would be handled (despite Paul Walker still being alive in the dream).

We get to part where the tribute to Walker is about to start... but then it just goes to credits without it.

Everyone is confused and irritable, especially Vin. He realizes that the tribute was not a part of the film proper and that home video versions have taken it out. He looks around the menu and finds that it's been relegated to a mere special feature. One only accessible when loaded onto a computer with a blu-ray drive. Not even in 1080p. Just at work print quality.

Vin fumes. The onlookers disperse.

Then I wake up.

Here's the Hemsworth dream from November 2014 !

Woke up.

Dream had me taking a ridiculously long shower in a gym while somehow watching a documentary on the troubled production of Ratatouille.

During it, I overhear Chris Hemsworth talking politics with some old man while having a steam. They both sounded quite conservative.

Then my shower door opens and I see Hemsworth look like he's about to come in.

"Did you need something?" I ask.

"Just you."

in terms of non-movie-related dreams, I recently had a dream set back in high school where this girl I haven't seen or thought about since jr high asked me to homecoming and it became major news throughout the school

I wonder what spurred my brain to bring her back up all these years later...

Huh, it's a given that Vision will be in Avengers 4 (even if he "dies" losing his gem in Infinity War, I'm sure that's not the end of him), but apparently Nick Fury won't sure up in either sequel.

http://movieweb.com/avengers-4-paul-bettany-vision-samuel-l-jackson-nick-fury/

He's showing up in the past in Captain Marvel, but is he out of the picture in the present day? Trying to trim down that cast, I guess.

Sam Jackson recently went on a tirade which included him not being actually signed to be in Captain Marvel yet and that was only a rumour so far.

He also said it didn't make sense that he wasn't in Black Panther... because he is black.  Which has no logical weight considering that movie has a cast that is 98% not white.

I think he's got himself into a situation with repeatedly complaining in the media so they are simply not casting him in any movies anymore despite having him locked into a contract.

I wish at this point he'd just bowed out after Winter Soldier. Fury's arc was really done at that point, and it'd be cooler to imagine him off doing clandestine spy stuff.

Instead Age of Ultron sets up an expectation that he'll pop up whenever the Avengers need him...except now he won't because Jackson pissed off Marvel.

Seems like a missed opportunity to not have Fury show up at least somewhere in these next two AVENGERS movies.  If it's really the culmination of this first Marvel era, he really should be there; he's been part of this since IRON MAN, and bringing the Avengers together in the first place was his idea.

Samuel L Jackson is his own brand. He doesn't need Marvel!

I still think Civil War doesn't happen if Fury is there at the beginning to just knock Cap and Tony's heads together Three Stooges style.

Which is exactly why he's not in that movie. Thor, Hulk, and/or Fury would have broken that movie if they'd appeared in it. That bit of refereeing by the people steering Marvel's ship actually stand out a bit more to me that the inclusion of Spider-Man in Civil War does.

Thor and Hulk at least have a diegetic (YASSSSSSSSS) explanation for their absence. Fury is just gone now, and rumor even has it he might not show up in Captain Marvel.

Or he's totally in all of them, and this is promotional theater. Wouldn't be the first time.

Sure, that's totally likely. But I do feel like with the 1989 opening of Ant-Man and the flashbacks in Civil War, the history of SHIELD has been reframed around Peggy Carter and Howard Stark.

I just finished watching DEADPOOL for like the 5th time and it would be amazing if somehow, someway MARVEL could shoehorn a cameo from Wade Wilson offering his commentary on what he thinks of The AVENGERS heading into Space for Battle along with SPIDER-MAN and how he wasn't even invited.. LOL.. I suppose if the commentary was profanity laced, then the MPAA  Rating for the movie becomes R-Rated..

No. That would not be amazing.
