That Pearl Beach. Just wow. I want to go there.

I'd go see the Multidimensional Shopping Mall, too.  I'd bet the movie theaters there kick much ass.

The movie was pretty good overall. It helps that I watched it in two chunks, since the pacing drags ass. I imagine it plays better at home than it did in the theater.

Not on the level of Gods of Egypt, but recommended for cool fans of Jupiter Ascending.

Despite everything, I found the two leads to be likable. Some of the incidental dialogue is baffling. And yet, they manage to sell it.

"Welcome to Big Market, the most convoluted place in the universe!"

The Rihanna sequence brings the movie to a complete. stop. just when the action should be ramping up.

Just watched this this week. It's really all over the fucking place, but I also really liked the inventiveness of it. Was left wishing the new Star Wars movies had stuff as fresh feeling as the multidimensional shopping mall section. Not just what happens with the main characters there either, but those costumes for the people they meet up with, the way the one guy in the group can remote control people and things. It'd be interesting to see a Star Wars movie where the tech weirder than the magic powers we've seen in the movies.

Will cut/paste/paraphrase:

Is she being pushed in our faces? She was in Paper Towns, (which was a fairly small movie) the movie did well, now this year and last she was in two bigger movies...one of which isn't even a Hollywood movie. Seems like the kind of stuff that happens all the time; someone will be in something, you'll see them pop up in stuff for a time when they're a fresh face, then they either fade away or stick around.

Absofuckinglutely.  The people she's connected to had the ability, and the desire, to simply manufacture her fame based on nepotism.

Cara is a beacon of True Good in this awful universe.

I’ve yet to see her act well. But she’s cool.

her shimmy shimmy sham sham in suicide squad (IN COLOR!) was the best part of the movie!

I mean, they digitally slimmed and ... enhanced ... her body, but still looked good!

This movie feels like it should be broken up into chapters like a Tarantino film and maybe it would've played a bit better.

How is three movies in three years being pushed in people's faces?

I'm just not seeing it. She was in a little movie that had buzz around in 2015. She then got a somewhat big role in a big studio movie last year. This year she had a major role in a big European movie. I'm just not seeing how this is a pushed in our faces situation, or at least some kind of artificial kind created out of nepotism. I'd say Jai Courtney from Suicide Squad is being pushed in our face more than Cara Delevingne...seemingly like someone got him mixed up with Sam Worthington and started casting him is stuff.

Her career started in modeling and Kardashian style gossip articles. Her family and family connections is the sole reason this happened.  The movies came later.

What are you not getting here?

Shimmy shimmy sham sham

Is her role in Suicide Squad even all that large? I gave up on that movie during the horribly cut opening with like three different songs.

Yeah, I know she started modeling. I don't see how that changes anything.

I'm sure her being hot and having a distinct look had something to do with her getting into modeling too.

That was roughly .000000000000000001% of it.

Cara's eyebrow game is on point, but Lily Collins is still the queen.

Only slightly different than Cara's dance move, up there.

It was probably a good part of it. Although it isn't like she was all over the place as a model, so I'm not seeing how that feeds into her being pushed into people's faces. She's been in a few movies over a few years, I'm not seeing how she'd being pushed in anyone's face the way you're saying. Break it down for me, in what way is she being pushed in people's face, and how is this any different than any other new face that shows up in a hit movie beforehand? Is this because she also seems to be more than happy to do press for movies she's in?

I'd never heard of her before this movie.

This was ridiculous, silly and over the top...

And I loved it.

It takes so many chances with its insane worldbuilding, by mid-way through I was almost exhausted.  Reminds me of The Fifth Element except even more nuts.  It has a relentless pace, and it's refreshing to see a big blockbuster unafraid of its own weirdness.  This succeeded where Jupiter Ascending failed.

It's not perfect.  It's full of bloat.  The lead girl is a pretty mediocre presence, especially next to the always excellent Deehan.  But it's an amazing idiosyncratic fever dream that was never boring.  Too bad it bombed, because I really would've loved to see the next two films Besson had planned.  I can see why audiences rejected it... you really needed someone huge in the lead (like Willis in the Fifth Element) in order to sell it.

I agree with everything you said. Except Deehan.

He's the worst thing in this. Cara is allright compared to him.

I dont think anybody's doing their best work here, but he's clearly a better actor than she is.  She should've stuck with modeling.

There were times she sounded like she was reading from cue cards.

Besson was smart with Milla in Fifth Element, keeping her mostly childlike and barely able to talk.... the limitations of her acting was solved creatively, so it never became a problem.  He must have lost whatever sense he had, because Cara is pretty terrible and yet shoulders half the movie.

Wonder if Dazed and Confused had somethings to do with that. Her stoner character there doesn't say much either.

I really liked Milla in Wim Wenders' THE MILLION DOLLAR HOTEL.  She had lines but she was playing a young chaotic street kid living in a rundown transient hotel, so she was all flittery most of the time.   The film didn't really go anywhere financially or critically but I really enjoy it.

I liked her in that The Three Musketeers movie from a few years back. Just watched it this year and now I wish I'd of seen it a lot sooner. It's too bad that bombed and W. S. Anderson went back to doing Resident Evil movies. Then again I enjoyed his last RE movie from last year, so I finally liked one of those. She's good in Zoolander too.
She was great in that alien abduction film, and the one where she can't see faces. She's become a pretty good actress, she just needs a chance at some better scripts.
