Nooj...  It's fucking Sage Northcutt.  He makes Leave it To Beaver look exciting and edgy.

Umm... that Northcutt guy might be a brilliant actor (never heard of him before), but he seems to be a lightweight fighter, instead of the Scandinavian tank-viking hybrid they're looking for. And what the hell is that tagline?

if he dies... he dies... AGAIN

hahahah I have no idea who northcutt is

He's a cheesy bubbly mixed martial arts prodigy who is just SUCH a dork.  He might physically have the look and the athleticism, but Drago's son should have a very specific vicious presence to him.  The Russian Terminator of boxers.

To be fair, we don't know what kind of fighter Sly wants for the son of Drago. Are they going vicious? Or are they going more fun? Who knows.

This guy gives me a Tommy Gunn vibe more than anything (he certainly looks like he could be Drago's son) but maybe that's where they're taking it. I doubt he'll try to replicate the whole robotic, steroids, monster that they did with Drago. I bet he's going for the more charming but arrogant route.

If they don't go full cheese with him being trained in some kind of high tech lab and punching harder than what is humanly possible, why even fucking do Drago Jr?

Abusive fathers? Drago Sr. keeps on berating his son Drago Jr. until finally he pushes his son out of the way and fights Adonis himself.

Clearly someone is coming back from the dead.

Ladies and gentlemen place your bets:

a) The movie continues as scheduled.

b) Rocky dies offscreen and another director is quietly drafted in.

c) The movie quietly disappears entirely.

A) for now... if more stories like this come forward then C)

Oh god, not Sly. I hope this turns out to be just another money grabbing, lying scrubber.

D) Recast with Frank

Unfortunately, I don't think so. There's a legit police report from 1986 but she didn't want to press any charges at the time. There would be no reason for it if she made it up.

This sucks. I love the Rocky movies more than any other franchise.

Well, he wasn't arrested or anything. Surely if the cops thought it was really bad they would have pursued it.

The story was she willingly had sex with Sly but got upset when he invited the bodyguard to join. Coupled with the fact that she was 16.

If she really was 16 why didn't the Police arrest them?

Star power?

Sly is also known for being incredibly charming in person (in addition to being an ego-maniac who treats his crews like shit).

Maybe the age of consent in Nevada is 16? And if it isn't now than maybe it was in the '80s. Pretty sure that's what it is in most of the country.

It is 16.

A legal-drama called Just Mercy (that we've never heard of before) is now Jordan's next film. Filming early next year. All but admitting the Creed sequel is delayed.

I assume there isn't too much post work to do on Creed II. They could definitely shoot in the spring/early summer and still make that November release. If they do move, it might be the first "Rocky" movie released in the summer since Rocky III.

Creed started in March and ended right before or after May. I remember this as a friend of mine was an extra in the climax. It was a very quick turnaround time, which is why everyone was caught off guard by the rave reviews.

If Jordan and Sly want to continue their journey, do it. Phenomenal film that’s truly the one that matches the original in quality and one of the best “legacy sequels” of this decade.

That's really cool news.

Fuckin' smart move Stallone!

Great! This is a black man's story now. Wouldn't want it to lose that perspective.

Way to go Sly. Dammit this is great news.
Sly's scandal really blew over huh? Honestly, which transgressions we're collectively willing to let slide and which we're not seems completely random sometimes.

Anyway I agree this sounds like the right way to go. Stallone's a capable enough director, for the level he’s aiming for at least, but Creed obviously benefitted from the shot of youthful energy and change of perspective. It would’ve been a bit weird for him to yank back the reins.

Hard for a piece of paper to gain momentum on its own.

New director announced:

Haven't seen his previous film, but they seem to be trying to duplicate the Coogler "pull someone out of the indie world" approach. Hopefully, he has the same kind of storytelling ability and energy.

I like that they're going with another young, hungry filmmaker.  Do I wish it was more of a "name" director?  Sure, but you've got to start making your name somewhere; this guy's getting his shot.  Hopefully he's up to the challenge.

I like that we've never heard of him before. It's almost as if the Heavyweight champ just chose an opponent out of a book and gave him a one in a million shot at the title.

The character of Adonis Creed reflects this generation and its challenges,” Stallone said. “I believe it’s important for the director to also be a part of this generation like I was in mine, to make the story as relatable as possible. We are extremely lucky to have the talented young filmmaker Steven Caple Jr. step up and accept the role of director. I am confident that he and Michael B. Jordan will hit it out of the park!”

The upcoming installment follows Adonis Creed (Jordan)’s life inside and outside of the ring as he deals with new-found fame, issues with his family, and his continuing quest to become a champion.

Wonder if we will get to see Apollo's other children with Mary Anne. We saw at least two in Rocky II.

Would also love to have a scene between Rocky's son Robert and Adonis. Bring back Milo Ventimiglia! Stallone and him even worked together recently on that TV series This is Us. No way this didn't get brought up.
