Destiny 2 - Page 12

That sucks.

What are milestones?

It's the main thing you'll be doing after you complete the campaign, in order to get better weapons and armor to make your character stronger. They update every Tuesday and are basically things like "Compete in five public events on Titan to get Legendary gear!" or "Win two Crucible matches to get Powerful gear!"

I figured. Why do gaming companies want me to interact with strangers all the time? Are they trying to groom me?

It’s not so bad, really. Unless you are an uber-completists you can always skip it. I know I won’t be doing Leviathan and Nightfall Strikes every week. And I usually hate pvp as well, but I don’t mind the occasional Crucible playthrough. It just helps quicken and sharpen up my game.
Crucible is still optional. I usually play it quite a bit in Iron Banner weeks (where there are extra tokens and armor sets and weapons), but drop in and out in other weeks.

One milestone a week less isn't going to slow you down much if you don't like Crucible.

I quite like the Crucible (Quickplay at least). It's a fun change of pace from the regular PvE fun.

EDIT: Also, Shaxx is just a delight. I go to sleep at night with a loop of "THAT'S A POWER PLAY! YOU TOOK THEM, NOW HOLD THEM!"

Voiced by Lenny James as well which rocks.

Here's some details from the Curse of Osiris stream.

That Infinite Forest on Mercury sounds cool as shit.

I do really love the environments in this game. Along with the weapons, there's always something new to see.

I wish there was some sort of transmog system in the game where I could retain certain looks even I'm not wearing the gear. I found a set of Exotic leg armor which look like mech legs yesterday, which would look awesome paired with some other Exotic gear.

Yeah, I know why they do it like that, for balance reasons and all. But if I could pair my Nezarec's Sin with my Starfire Protocol and those hologram boots I have it would look insane.

One thing I hope they add into the game is Clan social spaces you could decorate with items you have lying around the vault. Give me a rack I can show off my awesome sword collection with!

Agreed on the environments too. Titan (especially the Arcology) and Nessus being my favourites.

Yeah, Nessus is great. I like the moment in (I think) the Strike on that planet where you're zooming through portals and your Ghost says "Oh, look! A Vex waterfall (zooms through another portal)...oh."

I wish we could do more with our ships. It feels like such a wasted opportunity. Wouldn't surprise me if Destiny 3 had ship combat.

Oooh ship combat missions would be the tits. I also wish the exotic ships looked more unique than just slight reskins of the existing models. I was all excited to get one from Tess and didn't like it more than my current one. At least the Christmas event is adding new, awesome looking ships in.

And from what I've seen of D1, they had Sparrow races there! They should totally bring those back!

What's the deal with Xur? Does he move to a new location every Friday and only stay around for the weekend? I bought a pretty nifty helmet from him last week and am looking forward to his next set of items.

Just so. He stays till the Weekly Reset. Thought it was funny seeing him chilling in a tree last weekend.

Now if only the tentacled fuck can give me a Skull of Dire Ahamkara. I like my horny bucket but that one just looks so sweet.

Ah, so he stays around until the Tuesday? That's pretty good.

It's funny, when (I think) Tzu mentioned a few pages back that we'd need Legendary Shards to do certain things, I wondered how the hell I'd ever get enough because the campaign hardly gave me any Legendary weapons to break down. Now? I'm swimming in the damn things.

It's funny, I practically burned through all my glimmer the other night trying to craft mods. Didn't think that could happen!

I keep seeing the main Destiny sub-reddit complain about a lack of content but so far, 3 weeks in I don't see it. I've got Strikes to run, Crucible to play, Milestones to hit, Pub Events to play and I haven't reached the power cap yet. And that's just my Voidlock! Still need to get my Titan to 20 and start a Hunter. By the time I do reach that point the Expansion and all new content will be out. Basically, I'm definitely getting my money's worth here.

I think it's well-documented that Destiny 2 is designed for the more casual players (which is fine with me as I'm as casual as they get). If you're a hardcore gamer who spends eight hours a day leveling your Hunter, it's not surprising that you're quickly going to run out of things to do.

Shit, that's what attracted me to the game so much in the first place. I don't WANT a 1000 hour grind fest like so many MMO's. I don't have time for that.

I got all of next week off work.

Me and my roommate would like to put together some Raid activities, if such a group can be conjured. My Light is 285-ish.

You PC folks are killing me. I'm not saying 8 hours a day but at 2-3 hours a night I'd imagine you should still have two 270+ characters(make sure to vault your highest weapons for 2nd/3rd toons for quick power leveling) with a third halfway through the campaign. But I am attributing the fact that you don't to several things:

1) A plethora of games to play on PC so time is divided

2) No experience with D1 and its 2nd job quality meaning you weren't sucked into the quick grind like some of us were

3) We recommended hitting the Adventures to flesh out story and lore as well as playtime

As for stuff to do:

Crucible is fun and a good diversion from the PvE portion but I wouldn't dismiss it as some have said. Use it to practice for Iron Banner which typically has some of the best looking armor for all classes.

Strikes have no specific loot and economizing loot gain is better done through Public Events but I can see where Strikes would be fun for folks who did not play D1

This is true. They did build D2 to appeal to anyone BUT the 1% from D1 and it definitely shows to us. I never imagined the weekly raid group we have would have gone 2-3 weeks now without doing the Raid. That was unthinkable to me when this dropped.

All true (although I'd probably have done the Adventures anyway). I'm new to this Destiny-ing thing so my Voidlock is probably not the most optimized for quick leveling and I'm still learning things as I'm going along. Wait till you find out I often just zoom down to planets to shoot some aliens and do the challenges despite them not being that rewarding!

I'm just having fun with it. I think it has impeccably strong gamplay anchoring some great design. Shooting filthy xenos just FEELS SO GOOD here. And that pulls me in more than any grind ever could.

Just checking. If I'd found out that you were playing on PC and hadn't joined our awesome clan, I'd have started using my angry eyebrows whenever I looked at your avatar.

Don't we already have a console player as a member of our awesome clan?

Yeah, The Dark Shape is playing for both teams.

I'd get a computer and come help y'all but by the time I did and had all three characters ready to Raid y'all would still be behind me.

Decent size patch today. Servers are back up now, gonna try to finish the campaign tonight.

EDIT: ...aaaaaaand I can't log in yet. Guess I'll play one of the other gajillion games I have in rotation right now.

Do we know when the Season 2 balance patch is supposed to drop?

Good to hear Oded Fehr as Osirus there.

Quality of Life adjustments will most likely be peppered in from the DLC drop on the 5th and be released incrementally into the following Season. I doubt they drop a bunch of massive changes all at once.

Season 2 may drop with the DLC since this weekend, I believe, is the Clarion Call or it may drop after the Dawning event which should be a Christmas or early January thing.

I have read a couple places the Season 2 update is happening before Osiris. Just no specific date given.

* Waits patiently for Xur to appear *

ETA: Whilst waiting, I find this pretty amusing.

I wish you didn't have to assemble your own Fireteam for Trials of the Nine.

So starting this afternoon through the weekend in the Clarion Call Event. If you are in a fire team with a clan member you earn double xp. So we should hook up for whatever any time there’s more than one of us on at the same time.

FYI this should apply to Bright Engrams you get even if you are at the cap, from what I understand.

Yes. The Clarion Call is not designed to reach Level caps. It is designed to max Clan rewards and the Staive clans receive for the center but mainly for Eververse items such as Exotic emotes as those will be going away each Season.

Elaborate? The only really bad one is the disappearing invisible asshole on that Ketch.

I'm not about to play a game of "git gud" with people who play this game religiously. I'm playing over a dozen different games right now, and when I get a boss down to 5% and get mauled and have to start from scratch because I'm in a "no respawn" area, I just say fuck it, I have better games to play.

I hope that is about your matchmade fireteam companions and not me. :eek!:

I wasn't suggesting a git gud scenario, I was genuinely interested in which ones because some of the later fight mechanics with the mobs closing in ARE ridiculously overwhelming in boss fights compared to D1.

They made sure to increase some things which make some of the fights damn near impossible and the mention in the Osiris stream the other day about how "you will die often" has some streamers and pundits worried about what they have planned for difficulty, forced or artificial, in coming weeks.

No you don't.

I recommend trying a different weapon if you're having trouble with a boss. Recently I died two or three times to the final boss of an Adventure, because he'd call in reinforcements (those annoying flying suicide droids), just as I was shooting him in his big fat eye with my sniper rifle. I changed the rifle to a grenade launcher and began blowing the crap out of those droids every time he summoned them, and made it through without too much of an issue.

Failing that, if it's a scenario I can help you out with by teaming up with you, I'd be more than happy to.

The boss I'm on is on the ship you infiltrate, after the long tank battle. He's not particularly hard, like I said, I had him down to almost nothing. One power shot and he's dead. But he spawns in snipers and dogs and the big beefy guys with shields and I get surrounded in a small space and get chewed up. And I don't mind that, by itself.  I just hate dying and starting ANY big battle all over again from the top. It just bugs me. Some games make it a fun, lemme at 'im one more time! kinda thing (the Wolfenstein games come to mind), but in D2, it's just a slog of the same shit, different boss.

I think I just want the campaign to be over with already, I feel like I've seen it all.

If it's any consolation, the final boss just also happens to be one of the easier bosses.  And it's like the game knows you are ready for it to be over as well, as it has various areas light up where you can go instantly fill up your light.

You're almost there, Jacob. Don't give up, future raid team-mate! We believe in you!
