Destiny 2 - Page 16

Yeah, Curse of Osiris was already in development when the game was released so it probably won't fix the majority of issues people had. I'd expect the Mars Warmind DLC that follows to carry much more big changes.

Season 2 Eververse Stock

Those ships, sparrows and ghost shells? Sexaaaaay...

Not sure if they've reconfigured the reward system, or that I was just super-lucky, or maybe the game recognized I hadn't played since Saturday and wanted to go out of its way to make me feel loved in order to keep me playing, but I just got super-rewarded with loot whilst completing the Public Events milestone. I got four Legendaries, not to mention a shit ton of tokens (at one point getting three lots at once) and soooo many weapons and armor - across four Public Events. That's probably my best haul in quite some time.

I think they did reconfigure the system to be more generous. You're definitely supposed to receive more tokens now.

Couldn't dive in tonight but Osiris is downloaded and I'll go hard tomorrow.

It's so nice to have regular gear dropping again that actually increases my Power level. Only played for maybe twenty minutes and my Power jumped up by 2.

Will probably start the new campaign tomorrow.

Clan folks are saying keys they had are gone. If they instituted a reset for Raid keys on the DLC drop/reset day WITHOUT at least giving a warning then I am fucking out. I did not spend all that time with all those fucking Guided Games fucksticks not knowing what they were doing to lose 15 fucking Raid keys.

Also, if your Raid is such shit that my own clanmates won't even step inside to get keys and/or open chests with keys then fuck you Bungie.

*Looks around at his own PC clan*

So guys, apparently there are keys in this game...

OK, stupid question time. I bought the dlc late this afternoon, after the game had already done the Season 2 patch. Bought it directly from the Blizzard app, email confirmation, all that. But when I enter the game, nothing has changed, other than the little Season 2 stuff sprinkled on the menus, and of course players already running around at level 25. So I'm assuming that I have to finish the main campaign to see the new stuff, right? Can I keep leveling before completing the first campaign?

I may have to stay up late tonight after my weekly multiplayer Divinity bout and finish the damn thing already.

I kinda want to play this game with the PC guys. Sounds like a good time.

-sigh-

Yeah...if we grind it out for a bit we can still do it, I'm 295 so I'm almost there.

Let's get Jacob to join us (seriously dude, it's not gonna take that long) and let's rock those milestones. I'm sure the expansion campaign helps a lot as well.

I just logged in and played for about an hour. Just going around doing the public events I leveled up twice, got 4 legendart engrams (that really didn’t give me shit) and bumped my light up to like 292 or so. Yeah, I should be able to get to 300 pretty quick like. I did get the confused Travola emote, so that’s fun. And I pulled off a glimmer extraction public event completely solo, so that made me feel a little badass.
I almost felt like I was cheating tonight.

I played for two hours, just doing Milestone activities - Flashpoint, Clan, Crucible. In that time I leveled up from 20 to 25 and scored so many engrams my power level bumped from 278 to 297. I was infusing items just to clear inventory space for all the engrams I had left.

The new expansion campaign canonically takes place after Ghaul's attack so, yeah, you have to finish the base campaign first. I really do encourage you to complete it, not only because then you can join us in shooting stuff together, but because the real Destiny is in what comes next. Everything you're doing at the moment is basically preparing you for the weekly milestones, factions, strikes, nightfalls, treasure maps and patrols that come afterward. You don't even have your sparrow (i.e your summonable mount) yet and have yet to experience the pleasure of zooming from one part of a map to another at high speed!

Also: We're desperately in need of Raid members.

I'm really looking forward to jumping back on tonight and increasing my Power further.

Have only opened one Bright Engram so far this season but have already picked up the new Traveller teleportation effect. Unfortunately I made the mistake of using it on my current favorite ship, overwriting the Cabal Arrival Transmat Effect which I'd previously been enjoying. Thought it would be swapped out, so that was annoying.

Yeah, I almost learned the hard way that teleportation effects are like shaders, and replacing one destroys the previous one.

Every Raid has had one or two Exotic Chests and/or Boss Encounters. These chests/bosses had, obviously, an increased chance to drop an Exotic for you. The chests were often hidden along secret paths and difficult to find and/or get to. Vault of Glass had a chest(we used to get the checkpoint every week just so people could open that chest) and the final boss encounter, Crota had a random spawning location chest(you could cheese it to spawn in a safe location) and a boss encounter prior to the final boss and King's Fall had one chest that I remember, maybe two. I never played Wrath of the Machine so not sure what it had. Back when Exotics weren't like pennies these chests/encounters were very lucrative.

The Leviathan drops Raid Keys from each encounter. Under the main area is a maze and almost each named area has a chest that has a chance for Exotic drops. This underbelly area is a giant pain in the fucking ass. So much so that I had accumulated almost 12 keys because no one gave a shit about this Raid the past month. No slight to them, the Raid is not worthy of the D1 Raids. But to take them without a week's warning? I honestly have no desire to even play the DLC now.

To answer my own question, yes you keep leveling even if you haven't finished the campaign (I just made 21). I'm on the mission where I have to steal a ship to go to another ship, and of course I go through a slog of a fight only to get killed at the last moment by a fucking dog thing from behind as I was finishing off the boss. That's after three previous waves of fighting in the no respawn area. And then the fight starts aaaaaallll oooooverrrrr agaaaaaiiiinnnn.

That's not fun. That's tedium.

I'm gonna finish this thing just out of spite, aren't I?

If you can beat that boss, you'll reach my favorite mission in the entire game.*.

* Unless I'm wrong about where you are in the campaign. But I don't think I am.

Now I'm facing an enormous room of those damn dogs, sleeping. The previous mission or two were actually kinda entertaining, not just the endless <light enemy>, <armor enemy>, <crowd fight>, <mini-boss+crowd>.

Don't wake them!  Just quietly mosey around the whole room.

Did my Flashpoint Milestone last night, then decided to get a start on the DLC campaign. Managed to get up to 304. No Exotics yet though :(

It's fun! I think Mercury, though small, is a great location and the Infinite Forest is cool as hell. And having Morenna Bacarin talking into my ear is...nice.

What weapon choice did you make when you visited Ikora?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Everyone seems to think that Positive Outlook (the Auto rifle) is the best choice, but I'm in need of some good Kinetic weapons so contemplating on taking Living Memory (the Hand Cannon) instead.

I logged out before making the choice, so that I could think about it whilst at work today (although I think I've pretty much made my mind up already).

I took the Scout Rifle (Cause I like Scout Rifles -shrug-) I hadn't been paying attention to the Meta lately but it's good.

Yeah, I'm not paying attention to the Meta either. If you enjoy a weapon, use it! One of my favorite weapons at the moment is this one:

It pulls a little too hard to the right when firing but, other than that, it's got really good range and fantastic stopping power. More importantly, it feels really good to fire. That's an important factor for me. Does it feel fun to use?

Hey, I used Lincoln Green to finish the main campaign! No ragrets.

Although I may infuse that Scout Rifle into my MIDA to make it more powerful because MIDA 4 Lyfe!

I wish there were more Kinetic Exotics. Everything seems to be either an Energy or Power Exotic weapon. I haven't even found the Vigilance Wing yet. Woe is me!

I knew what I was signing up for when I got into this Destiny 2 mess, but still, I have a complaint!

Locking Heroic Strikes behind the expansion is super lame. Yes, I'm gonna buy it soon anyways, but still, lame is lame.

Did you buy Sweet Business from Xur last week? Cause that gun is FUN! Vigilance Wing is also great though.

Sweet Business was one of the first exotics I ever received and I used it for a short period of time. It's a fun weapon but I've found other auto rifles I prefer. Unfortunately it's one of maybe four Kinetic Exotic, as far as I'm aware.

This is a valid complaint and I can already see gaming media picking up on the fact that raising the Power requirement for the existing Prestige Raid and Nightfall has locked people who own only the base game out of both. MMO's (and, yes, I'm going to keep comparing Destiny to one) have been releasing expansions for years but even WOW never locked players out of previously available content because they didn't buy an expansion. I think Bungie might be surprised at some of the stuff they've been able to get away with on consoles but which their new PC players are going to rebel against. It's like how they were surprised when a player started creating spreadsheets to document the XP chokehold. It's what PC gamers do.

I'm still rocking Sturm and Drang. Been using those for a few levels now. I love hand cannons, and the auto reload feature when switching weapons is great.

Sax, I saw progress on my Rat King quest as well, but it was for two out of three patrols. If we're on again just in we should try to knock out the patrol, pub event, and crucible parts. Finishing a Nightfall with five minutes remaining is going to be tough, though. I hadn't tried a Nightfall seriously yet, but the other night I drunkenly tried one alone just to see. Yeah, that was dumb.

Yeah, I was wrong about my Rat King progress. I thought it was 2/4 but it was 2/3, as yours was. I feel sorry for you entering the Crucible with me* but, hey, if you're prepared to take the risk....

* Last night, I helped win two matches and achieved a personal best of 17 kills (with a 5-kill streak) in one match (the best being where I punched one guy to death and the resulting sun spot killed the team-mate beside him)...... and then I came last in a game where I achieved only 6 kills. I felt so sorry for my team-mates although, to be fair, they didn't do much better than me.

I'm game for some Crucible. Need to hit that Milestone anyway...

Don't worry about me.  I play Crucible weekly to hit the milestone and I still suck at it.
