I like Marsden, I think he pulls of Scott fine. Like ya'll said, he's not the most dynamic character in the first place.

As a matter of fact, it seems like playing it stiff was actually GREAT acting by James. If you've seen X-Men 1.5, you know what he really seems like, fun loving and pretty damn funny. So it seems as if he's actually playing Cyke with quite an appropriate amount of restraint.
His performance in Disturbing Behaviour was marvelous.

It's more like "capisce".

Literacy rocks, doesn't it motherhips?

We have a winner, finally. And motherhips, who gives testicles on toast about "capisce" anyway? That's Italian literacy more than English.

Guidos!

I just get out of Italian class, and what do I see? Fucking italian. Damn I hate that language. Fuck universities that require 2 years of a language for graduation. I never really appreciated the beauty of the english language until I took this class. Let's stick to english in here. Capisce?

When you say "The Movie Poop Shoot Review", do you mean a Jeffrey Wells review?

And shouldn't he have posted it four months ago? It doesn't usually take him this long to make up his mind. I mean, hell, if he continues to slide like this he may not be able to review the film before he's seen it anymore.

Bateman, I just read the moviepoopshoot review, and aside from the fact that it's pretty amateurish, I couldn't find much to get upset about. No spoilers, nothing. Not about the ending. They hinted at it a bit, but didn't say it.
I won't bring it up if you didn't notice it. You are lucky.
If there's one compaint i have about this movie it's that there's no BEAST. The X heroes need some personality.

People are talking about how Cyclops is a stiff, but did Storm or Jean really have any charisma? they've never been that exciting character-wise in the comics.

Other than that, the free ticket i got from 1.5 is burning a hole in my pocket. I just saw this kick ass shot of wolvering walking down the xmansion hallway and popping out his claws. Looks perfect.
Wolverine, Magneto, Xavier, Rogue, and probably a fair amount of time for Nightcrawler seems like quite a nice amount of "charismatic" characters. The rest have their nice little moments, and I have a suspicion that they're going to be even better in this film.
There's no Hank McCoy now?
I'll be seeing the movie the night before it comes out for free, then I'll be seeing it again the next day for free with my ticket from X-men 1.5.

Someone the other day on my EQ site mentioned the idea of Christian Bale as Gambit. Now that would be interesting.
Beyond being a boring character Gambit would not fit in an X-Men movie, because Wolverine already fills the roguish tough-guy-outsider role. That would be redundant. Instead they should bring in the mutant we've all been waiting for...Dazzler.
We've got a shit load of spoilerific clips for anyone who wants to watch them.

Just go here <a href="http://said.uc.edu/students/azbellnm/" target="_blank">x-tatic clips</a>

Sweet Jebus!

I've only seen a few of the clips myself, but they are great, this looks to be the best superhero film yet, and we have Bryan singer to thank.
The car thing's pretty funny
.......and i think Brian Cox is going to be great in this movie .
great clips, magneto and pyro clip is my favorite. why do they release all these clips, i cant resist them
post #319 of 741
I really like Gambit and was kind of hoping he'd get a cameo in X2. If anyone would like to PM me with the official word, I'd very much appreciate it.
Holy fuck! Those clips were delicious. I must have more. FEED ME!!!! FEED ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I nominate the line "you know all those dangerous mutants you hear about on the news? I'm the worse one" for the "you know what happens when a toad is struck by lightning? the same thing that happens to everthing else" line of this movie. And I nominate Pyro for the Storm of this movie.
I nominate storm for the storm of this movie. The pyro line isn't nearly as bad as the frog line.
It's pretty bad, especially since Wolverine is a lot worse than little Pyro. Of all the mutants in the two movies Pyro doesn't even rank in the top ten of badness. I never said that line was worse than the toad line, I just said it's probably in the running for worst line in this movie.
Pyro isn't the baddest mutant, but he certainly thinks he is. The line is just youthful arrogance.

I nominate you to be in X-Men 3 as "Captain Kneejerkreaction"

I just saw the X-Men united tv spot. I don't know how they did it but that was asstacular seriously.
I'm actually glad I have a dialup now. Way easier to resist d/ling those clips. It hurts now, but it'll be worth it in the end.

As long as we get any smoking lady with some respect and some chops I'd be happy.

I don't think Bellucci would be right but, hell, it's Bellucci.

Just scanned through your AICN review, Beaks, skimming any paragraph that seemed like it might be spoiler-tastic. Nicely written. Thanks.

Anticipation continues to rise...

Why wouldn't Bellucci be right? She's proven she can be the sexy femme fatale in Brotherhood of the Wolf, she's got the right figure, and why could Psylocke be French? It'd add to the intrigue.

Or something like that. I jsut want to see Bellucci in the Psylocke outfit, that all.

She's Italian, not French.

And isn't Psylocke Asian?

My bad. Her prominence in French films led me to believe otherwise. Sorry.

And as I remember, Psylocke had a hint of Asian, but she was pretty multiethnic in apperence.
Wasn't Psylocke reinvented as the sister of Captain Britain?
Something like that. Or Marvel Girl UK. Or something. I know she's a Brit, anyway.

So Posh Spice then?

I thought Psylocke was originally the sister of Captain Britain. Then the Hand captured her and transferred her brain into the body of a hot ninja assassin, or something like that.

Marvel sure fucked around with the X-Men a lot in the late-'80's, early '90's.

Not nearly as much as they've fucked with everything in the past four years. Continuity went right out the window, and for some odd reason Wolverine looks like Wesley Snipes with claws. I can't figure that one out. Anything after Onslaught in the comics is a total mystery to me.
The last time I read X-Men was the Fatal Attractions crossover. That was a long time ago.

I really don't like that voiceover guy they have for the new TV spot.
They had some weird guy for the TV spots the last time too. I don't get it, they deserve THE guy, this guy makes it sound cheap if that makes any sense at all.

And I liked the "I'm the worst one" line quite a bit. Its certainly not bad, and nowhere near the "Toad struck by lightning" abomination. Funnily enough, Singer actually addresses that line on the commentary and pretty much chalks it up to temporary insanity in letting it in the film.
The Toad line is one of Joss Whedon's two contributions to the X-Men script (the other being Wolverine's "You're a dick"). According to Whedon, it was originally written almost as a Buffy-ish line.

(Cocky "You know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning?"

&lt;Toad gets fried, goes flying offscreen.&gt;

(Sardonic, grinning "Huh. Same thing that happens to everything else."

Granted, it's not MUCH better, even when you imagine the proper delivery, but it's infinitely better than Berry's voodoo goddess delivery ("De SAME t'ing DAT 'appens to eddyTING else!"). It should have been axed from the script, it should have been axed from the shooting, and it should have been axed during the editing. The fact that it survives in the final cut is ridiculous.

That has nothing to do with X2, of course, but I just thought it was mildly interesting when I read it.
Ok....I can't stand it....I must know.

Is The Beast shown in his blue, furry form?
Or is he shown still looking relatively normal?

If that's too spoilerific for anyone, then could I get a PM up in the house? I'm dying to know.

I'll be happy either way, but if he's blue and furry I think my pants will explode. Just want to be prepared.

*lightning*
"It croaks."

I only watched one of those clips--the car one--but it was awesome. I want to BE Hugh Jackman.
Jackman truly is the man. I was watching MI:2 the other day, and nearly cried over the thought that we came THAT close to having Dougray Scott.
The Toad line is truly a strange thing. Joss Whedon was pretty much a little bitch around the time the film came out, complaining about how they scrapped his stuff and how he did so much better. His script supposedly ended with a big fight in a Wal-Mart of all places.

Either way, yeah, I thought "It croaks" would have been miles better. Still a cheesy groaner, but at least it would make some sort of sense. I just can't even wrap my head around the line as it is, and its just so flagrant. Its not offhanded, its given this big buildup and everything. Oh well.

And while I like to give Dougray the benefit of the doubt, Hugh Jackman is the find of a lifetime. You really can't picture anyone else, and I did indulge and watch the car scene. Hilarious.

And yes, its taking all my powers to resist those clips.

Thanks, Slater, but I think I wrenched an ankle stepping around all of those spoilers (and, now, it looks like my trusty talk backers are pissed at the vague nature of my review). It's killing me not being able to discuss the film at length.

BTW, I think Dougray's a solid actor -- he really impressed me in ENIGMA -- but Jackman as Wolverine is lightning in a bottle. Happily, the same can be said of Cumming as Nightcrawler.
