I'll wait till I actually read it to pass final judgement, but Mystique sounds a lot better than Vaughn's other new book Runaways was. Mystique is cool. Book's that knock off or spoof Bond are usually atleast mildly entertaining (ex: Danger Girl, SpyBoy). Who better for espionage than a shapeshifter. Syd Bristow would be jealous of Mystique's disguises. We'll see tomorrow.

The guy who did "Pancakes" did a story for the new Hellboy: Weird Tales. It rocks almost as much as Pancakes.

Mystique turned out to be pretty weak. For those looking for the ruthless assassin, don't expect to find her in this book. Also, Vaughn has an incredibly tough time handling his pop culture refrences in this book. With Mystique refusing to kill and a pretty damn uninteresting story, this is a book that doesn't deserve further attention.

However, Runaways still has potential. Vaughn just needs to watch himself on those pop-culture refreneces.
