Who will be Spiderman?

So far, it seems that Sony wants any version to be based on Cameron's treatment-which places Petey in high school. Rumors say that Sam Raimi is close to signing, and I think it'll fly. The same rumormongers are claiming that three actors are being considered, and one is in talks right now.

Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore)
Jason Biggs (American Pie)
Nicholas Brendon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

The Brendon rumor thrills and saddens me-he's great for the job, but I wrote a script with him in mind and he said that it sounded good but now he'll get all big time actor and cast my script aside...sob..sniff...

Brendan is just about perfect for my visualization of Peter Parker. I hope they snag him because the kid from Rushmore would not float my boat.

Jason Schwartzman is great in Rushmore, but from what we've seen, athletic enough for the role. At least Brendon can be seen in a maskless, tattered Spidey costume nar the finale, throwing a credible punch.

I kinda like the idea of Jude Law. Definitely more so that the other options. I don't know why, but I keep thinking that Giovanni Ribbsi (sp?) would make a kick-ass Spidey. Maybe that is just me.

Of course Ed Norton could pull it off (he pulled off looking like a teenager in Primal Fear) too, and everyone knows that in my book Norton is revered as god.

Hm, I could play spidey. . . .

I don't think Jude Law is good choice. Granted he's a great actor, but 1. I think he's too old. 2. I think he was only chosen because he is H'Wood's flavor of the month. 3. I picture a more all american looking geek boy, to portray our friendly neighborhood web-slinger.

This should be a hard bit of casting, and I can't think of anyone that I would pick if it were my choice.

Have y'all ever seen that show "Now and Again"? The lead is a guy named Eric Close. This guy would make a good Peter Parker, a lot better than a guy named Jude.

HAM I gotta tell you, I used to believe that Sam Raimi was a filmmaking god. I'll never forget my first Fango Convention back in the early nineties when Raimi and Bruce were there to promote AOD. I still consider meeting them one of the high points of my life.

Not anymore. Ever since AOD both have either down played or tried to forget where they came from. And not counting that Herc and Xena crap, neither have done anything like what they used to. Only Disney TV tripe and Sharon Stone westerns.

Maybe they sold out, I don't know. But at can't call myself a fan of any of them anymore, especially Raimi after that Costner baseball movie. Now he's signed on to do Spider-Man. If this was ten years ago I'd be ecstatic. Now I'm worried which Raimi will be behind the camera. Evil Dead Sam or A Simple Plan Sam.

If Nicholas Brendan isn't Peter Parker I'm not going. End of line.

Yeah, I'm sure Spider-Man's gonna be ranked among baseball dramas.

Hey, just hope it's better than Darkman (not that I didn't love Darkman).

jude law's not quite who i picture peter parker to be, he's a little too hollywood/clean cut, while parker's just an ordinary guy who got bit by a radioactive spider. but ed norton could definitely play him (he could play anyone from paste-pot-pete to dr. doom and i'd buy a ticket). nicholas brenden wouldn't be bad, i hope he's the frontrunner of the three candidates h.a.m. mentioned.

I still apreciate Sam. Meeting him at a Fango con in the early '90's is one of the highlights of my life as well. I loved a Simple Plan.

With any luck, the double live gonzo-eye popping Ram-O, Sam-O, and Blam-O-Cam Raimi will be present, as well as the subtle flair for drama Raimi.

And yes, Brendon or DEATH!

Or maybe he'll do my flick-he said it sounded cool...

It has been announced that the part of Spiderman will be played by David Arquette. The studio explained that they were looking for somebody "sticky" to play the part.

See, I gotta digress here (not with you, Blo, Arquette, as we all know, is our lord and savior and capable of playing ANY part...) on Boreanaz and Brendan Fraser. Spidey was a nerd-core Weezer listening type-o-guy, more of a small-framed weenie type of guy. Like Nick Brendan, or Jason Schwartzmann (who is too young for the role), or Joe Momma.
