Anybody else pick this one up? Damn, Thompson really moved into the big leagues with this one. The art is amazing, and the story, while very heavy at times (especially since it's autobiographical), is great. I already loved Goodbye Chunky Rice, but this is much, much better. I recommend it to everybody who has 29.95 to spend on 580 pages of graphic novel goodness.

no, this isn't shilling, I'm just truly digging this book.

This is easily the best thing I've read in comics form in a long time. Heartbreaking.

Man I know this is an old thread, but I just recently received this for my birthday.

Got to agree with the sentiment that this is amazing stuff. It's a truly wonderful love story with some beautiful, imaginative artwork and some material in here that really made me remember my childhood with fondness.

There's a dose of religious wonderings that sprout up very early on that I was afraid would turn me off - but it never did.

Highly, highly recommended.
