1)Jessie-He's tough, Patrick Dempsey is a great choice, he looking the part(in Scream3 I hardly recognized him), Mel works, maybe Jason Patrick for the look to at least.....
2)Tulip-Bridget Fonda
3)Cassidy-Tim Roth and maybe James Marster (of Spike/Buffy fame, he's pretty good with the humor/surly bad ass attitude)
4)Herr Starr-Richard O'Brien
5)Saint of Killers-Brion James...but he's fucking dead!! so I'll have to say the gent who played the pilot in Con-Air

based on the recommendations of the fine sewer chewers in this thread, i picked up preacher: gone to texas yesterday. i am impressed. terse, shocking, violent, and damned entertaining writing from garth ennis. i like dillon's art too, kinda reminiscent of bryan talbot's. thanks for the tip, folks. guess i'd better whip out the atm card to buy the rest of the collections and the ongoing series.

grendel... my friend collects cerebus. luckily i can borrow his phone-book collected volumes. and, well, i'm still recovering from the preacher buy-out. funny, i just recently spent about as much on comics as i've done in the past half decade. what's worth reading nowadays? i'm interested in picking up alan moore's league of distinguished gentlemen, but i'm hazy on what else is good that's currently running.

Set in Gotham, irreverent, funny, very western feel to it. The issue with Superman is one of the best one-shot issues in comics history (from about 6-8 months ago).
Hellblazer-
A British 'Magus', John Constantine embodies cool. He is without a doubt, the MAN. Some of the art in the earlier stages of the series is less than stellar, but the story rocks out.

Transmetropolitan-
"The City", a landscape of future America. Spider Jerusalem is a journalist who cannot stop speaking his mind. THIS IS THE BEST COMIC IN TODAY'S MARKET.

Planetary-
Like the X-Files, only more gooder...Three "Sponsored" people(?) look into random wierd-ass events that may have far-reaching global and multi-dimensional impact. Cooler by far than I am making it sound.

The Authority-
Sick of DC/Marvel cardboard cutout superheroes? This is the BEST superhero comic to come out since 'The Watchmen'. I cannot get enough of 'The Midnighter' character. Go to the comics review section on the main CHUD board and read chenzzo's take on the series. It is love.

Alan Moore (duh):
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen-
If you don't know what it is, just go buy it and be surprised. I believe it's only six ish's, and should be wrapping up soon if not already.

Top 10-
Cop book, in a city where everyone has superpowers. Very cool.

Tom Strong-
Never-ending coolness. Like a 40's serial only done in a style that don't get old.

grendel is a walking god among men. With the exception of Hitman (which I've been meaning to read) his picks were exactly the same as mine.

And with all honesty, I can say that anybody who doesn't like THE AUTHORITY is a commie pinko bastard.

And a great older book that you should pick up is the GRENDEL TALES: DEVILS AND DEATHS trade paperback.

One of the best comic stories ever written. And you don't even have to be a GRENDEL fan at all to enjoy it. If you pick it up, be sure to mourn the passing of artist Edvin Biukovic, he will be missed.
