hey kids,

anybody remember keith giffen? wrote a whole buncha stuff for dc comics way back when and then went solo to do the image thing with trencher and then dropped off the radar for a while?

i just saw a reprint of justice league america #1 (the funny incarnation with booster gold, guy gardner and other reject dc characters) and it reminded me of how much i liked giffen's work. what other mainstream comic title featured the classic maniacal laughter (bwahaha) so often?

his take on legion of superheroes (now conveniently washed away) was innovative and unique despite stomping quite a bit over those characters. i miss 12 panel pages.

anybody got any info on what he's been doing of late?

Giffen did indeed do Trencher. Check this news bit for the latest Giffen sighting.

thanks for the link, dave. excellent news. i always thought giffen's work was underrated at d.c. i'm glad to see he hasn't completely thrown in the towel after the post-oversaturation vacuum that came in the mid-90s.

Giffen's stuff always did kick ass, and the only other comics that I think are as purely funny (as opposed to deep and funny, like Cerebus) are the Tick and Roachmill.

Anyone here old enough to remember Roachmill?

Dude, I shit you not, I can remember when they were a quarter. Of course, my mother taught me to read with comic books, so I'm not really THAT old. It's just that I've literally been reading comics since I could read.
